My best friend is a die hard Giants fan. He is also a extreme, obnoxious blow hard. I used to like the Patriots, but all this talk of how great they are and how they come off just rubs me the wrong way.

Either way, I will have to hear about this for the next 30+ years. If the Pats win, I have to hear about how they are the greatest thing to walk Earth, and if the Giants win, I have to hear from my friend how his team beat the alleged greatest team ever.

I have chosen to root for the Patriots. What about you?

The Patriots.

I'm so sick of having to listen to ex-Dolphins and their fans everytime a team starts 6-0.

Plus, if the Giants win, I don't think Archie Manning will ever shut up.

Just want to see a good game. I'm done rooting against the Patriots but yet if they don't win that's OK too. Just going into the game with the mind set of taking it all in and possibly witnessing the greatest season in sports history.

If you're not a real Giants fan and are rooting for the Giants just because you don't want to see the Patriots win, I have some advice........don't do it. Just go into the game and just enjoy the last game of this season.

I hope for a game where there's some interest in who actually wins the game in the 2nd half. I will be very disappointed if the game is basically over at halftime.

And you think they Patriots are going to be hush hush about the undefeated season if they win?

No, but at least it will take a while to get to my annoyance level with the Dolphins. I also think that anything that keeps Archie's mouth shut is worth it in the long run.

Giants

I hate the cheating Pats and would love to see them have the lead the whole game and lose on the last play of the year.... :goodposting:

JUSTICE SERVED

I will root for the Patriots.

Occasionally I have to travel to Boston for work and I do get tired of the cabbies saying

" Twom Brady is the greaytest qwuarterback evaah" in their heavy boston accent and with a smug sense of superiority(though by now they may be right).

However. When separated from their fan base the team has many merits. They do business the right way, they don't talk a lot of trash and they are generally (other than wilfork and harrison) good clean players. The team concept is alive and well in New England and in today's ME-ME world that is refreshing. I'd like to see that rewarded.

I will also LOVE to see Mercury Morris' face if the Patriots win. I'm so sick of that ridiculous ego-freak that I hope Miami's perfect season is never mentioned again. I could watch footage of the 72 Dolphins holding each other and sobbing for hours and hours.

If the Patriots were playing the Packers I would have to give it more thought. That would have been one heck of a story line. Even though Jeremy Shockey won't be playing I don't want him to have a super bowl ring and I'm not terribly fond of Brandon Jacobs either. I'm just not very interested in the Giants. It would be a nice slap in the face to Tiki though..........

I can live with M. Morris, I can't live with listening to Harrison, Moss, Bruschi, Wilfork and the POS BB.... :

They can only MATCH what the Dolphins did. Just saying.

I'll be rooting for the Patriots. I grew up there  and love watching the way they play the game.

And seeing 19-0 would be extraordinary.

Tuck the Patriots!

Come on G-Men!!!!!

But I'm not bitter.
I know it stings you guys but I will always remember where I was when I saw that play/game. I don't want to compare it to historic tragedies from the past because it's only a game, but I will never forget it.

Now you sound like Mercury Morris. They can actually exceed what the Dolphins did as the Dolphins only played 14 games in the regular season. 19-0 in the salary cap era is better than 17-0 in 1972, in my opinion.

While MM is a tool, you can't punish the Dolphins for only having 17 total games to play. IMHO undefeated in the salary cap era is less impressive then prior to the salary cap era. I am by no means suggesting that the 72 Dolphins are the greatest team ever or even that they could beat the current Pats.

Yeah, Morris isn't going anywhere. Now that the Pats are in the "neighborhood", if they win, they will just be neighbors to the 72 bunch...and MM will be peeing on your lawn :thumbup:GO Giants !(for reasons Godsbrother stated)

I view the undefeated in the salary cap era as more impressive, not less. Back in the day, you could build a superpower team with virtually no restrictions. It should have been easier to accumulate enough talent to go undefeated. The salary cap era was brought about to remove the ability to build dynasties and level the playing field. To be able to build a team capable of winning every game played with the limitations placed on the rosters today is unbelievable. To be fair, one huge thing that has to happen for a team to excel to this level is the team must stay healthy. While you are often able to build a great team under the cap, it is frequently done at the expense of depth. If you can stay healthy, you don't expose your depth, which is a huge part of the Pats success this year.

I'm a jets fan, so this is pretty much my worst nightmare. I voted I hate them both, but i guess i have to root for the giants. My grandfather was a big fan. I wouldn't root for the Pats if they were playing Al-Queda.

Intersting...

Of the 10 posts that come down to rooting for the Giants:

1 - Giants fan

1 - $ on Giants

8 - hate the pats or the pats fans.

(assuming the pats win.. which is not a foregone conclusion...)The dolphins went 19-0 while rewriting the record books as the most prolific offense in NFL history? :lmao:

 07 Patriots >>>>>> 72 dolphins and it's not even that close. Hell.. look at the schedule difficulty :lmao:

I'll be rooting for an entertaining game, and a Giants W. I just really don't like Belichick. He's got the personality of a Steak-um

It's unfortunate that such greatness is creating such resentment within it's own fans.

Enjoy the history you are privileged to be witnessing, and thank my beloved Patriots for providing it.

So stay away from Canton over the next couple of years or so. :lmao:
Who will be in Canton on 2010?
I'll be there. Making first trip with a couple of buddy's of mine.We plan on going there alot over the next 20 years. Thanks for asking.
You don't think you'd like GB? he seems like nice guy to me. :goodposting:

For all the Patriot "haters", how do they stomach the Mannings? Peyton actually isn't a bad dude from what I can tell, but Eli started his career on a bad note when he refused to play in San Diego (for Marty) and he hasn't ever truly redeemed himself. Archie comes off like a jack### IMO. Tom Brady seems like a nice enough guy, given his start in the NFL, he's one of my favorite players. Just for his story.

In many ways, this is "evil vs. evil", but I'll side with the boy from Big Blue.

i keep asking myself why there are so many pats haters and i realized it comes down to one word

Jealousy

First off, an entertainling game is desired... New England is certainly the superior NFL team this season. I want them rewarded with a championship ring.

I wouldn't call it jealousy.....lots of people like rooting for the underdog. I am rooting for the Giants.....and if they lose I am not going to be miserable on Monday, outside a hangover. I want to see a Good Superbowl.....I don't want to see a blowout. I don't have any money on the game but that 13 point spread does look tempting.

:kicksrock: The Giants are big underdogs, and I think the NY - GB games was one of the best games I seen in a long time. I was on the edge of my seat at the end of the game and I'm not a fan of either team. I always root for the underdog if my team's not involved. Plus I don't want to have to listen to all the Pats fans afterword, although I think the Pats will win and we'll have to hear it anyway.

Because I am a Steelers :kicksrock: ...

Because I like to root for the underdog against the Patriots :boxing: ...

Because I am tired of the "Patriots Dynasty" :yucky: ...

But mainly, BECAUSE I CAN!!!
