Who has the cojones to start Plummer this week (1 Viewer)

He killed me last week in a 2QB league and I am seriously considering starting Alex Smith over him. Anyone out there think he will rebound or will it be more of the same?

last week does seem like an anamoly, and benching people based on last week, especially week 1, is hardly ever a good idea. Then again, KC didn't have much of a problem making Palmer an also-ran and seemed unable to stop the run.

You must be in the same boat as me, didn't take a QB before round 8?? On almost all my teams, I've got variations of Plummer, Bledsoe, Delhomme, Green, and even Brooks. I now have Alex Smith added as a QB3 to almost all of them, and am considering starting him in several leagues. With that being said, I think I'm giving Plummer one more shot this weekend before I hit the panic button.

one word: Bootleg

Plummer may get 50 yards rushing as KC NEVER has defended the Denver QB bootleg. Kubiak took it to HOU and Carr ran for a bunch against KC this preseason.

Plummer may throw 2-3 INTs but I bet he gets 1-2 TDs and 40-60 rushing yards as well.

I don't have any better options (Brooks) but I'm not really worried about Plummer. He's got a long enough history in Denver to be able to reasonably expect 3400 passing yards, 20 td's and another couple td's rushing. With Walker in Denver, I wouldn't be suprised to see his numbers increase. One game hasn't changed my thoughts on him. Most teams with Plummer at QB are just looking for average weeks from their QB's...Plummer should be able to fill this need.

I play in a VERY competitve 12 team league, and, somewhat suprisingly, he got dropped for Pennington. Seems to me to be a overreaction, and I may try to grab him, though I already have McNabb and Big Ben.

Snake is my No. 1 with Kitna my No. 2. (Waited very late to draft a QB getting lots of value at RB and WR) Plummer vs. KC or Kitna vs. the Bears D.

I'll take my chances with Plummer rebounding this week.

i traded him away today straight up for terry glenn.

my qb going forward is now phillip rivers. i'd rather take a consistent 10-15 pts from rivers than the -3 i got from plummer last week.

one more game like this and jake the snake will be warming cutler's bench.

I'm starting Plummer this week and feel pretty comfortable that he will rebound. I actually think he has better weapons to throw to now than what he has had before in Denver. I am not going to panick after 1 bad game.

Benched him for Vick
Same decision, still thinking. Vick at home is pretty reliable but Jake at home is usually pretty good as well. I think Denver-KC will be a runfest so I might go with vick
I just did the same.
Historically, Tampa has frustrated Vick. I'm banking on him making smarter decisions in the passing game (this is a scary thought, I know) and having more success running against an aging, less speedy Tampa defense. Really this decision comes down to: Who scares me less? Right now it's Vick.

i need to decided on PLUMMER vs VICK. Vick vs Tampa is never good, but maybe this isnt the same Tampa. Plummer looked awful. I dunno what to do. waaaaaaaaaah!

I'm starting him. Not gonna freak out after one game. Although if Steve Smith plays, I'll probably start Delhomme instead.

I like Vick this year. (I have him as my #1 in one league) But, I'd go with Plummer. He's the safer pick. One bad week doesn't mean much to a vet like Plummer. Like he said... He's bounced back from much worse games.

The Chiefs allowed 116 yards, but at only 3.4 yards per carry. If you're going to come at me with the, "they knew the run was coming which explains the low ypc number", then you have no grounds to point out the total yards, either, because obviously there were a ton of runs.

I don't think the Chiefs were "unable to stop the run".

Of the 30 carries Rudi Johnson and Kenny Watson combined for, 22 of them were for less than 4 yards. There were 2 runs that the Chiefs were, to some degree, unable to stop: a 22-yarder and a 16-yarder, both by Johnson. The remaining 6 carries went for: 4, 5, 5, 4, 8 and 9 yards.

Chad Johnson had 2 reverses that accounted for 14 yards.

Derrick Johnson also had one 5-yard tackle for loss wiped out by a penalty that had no effect on the play (12 men on the field; the 12th man being a lazy lineman who was 5 yards too slow).

This all being said, I think the Broncos will run on the Chiefs. (I just think that last week's performance was hardly troubling.) However, I see this only helping Plummer. Do I think he, Plummer, is a good play? Yes. I wouldn't start him needing 25 points, if I could help it, but I don't see him throwing more than a lone interception, and 200 yards/2 touchdowns would be my guess as to his positive effect on the game.

The one rule I've learned with Plummer over the years to only start him at home and always bench him for road games. Last week was a road game. This week is at home. I think he's a safe start.

I doubt the 2-3 INTs part, but the bootleg part is seriously :goodposting: . Denver's passing offense is based entirely on getting Jake out of the pocket. Last week, Jake spent most of the game in the pocket. Kansas City has an extremely aggressive young defense, and Denver always positively TORCHES them once they get the bootleg going. I don't expect him to rush for 50, but I don't think he'll have any problem passing for 250/2 against a defense playing the entire game out of position.

KC's pass defense looked good week 1. Maybe having Law and Surtain back there will make an impact. Plummer should still be decent because they should be able to run all over KC (although they ran all over St. Louis FWIW), and run some good play action off it.

not like he is playing bal or some other quality defense..he is at home..it is the chiefs...he will crush it...
According to Football Outsiders, KC had the 12th ranked defense last year (although it was much stronger against the run than against the pass). They were also 5th in weighted DVOA (i.e. they finished the season extremely strong), and they are also projected to have the 4th best defense in the league this season. Just FWIW. I do agree that Denver has KC's number, though.

4th best?!!! I'll eat my hat if that happens.

Last year Vick got 306yds; 2 TDs and zero ints at home vs TBI would take that again. I have him starting over Plummer

Plummer vs KC (Home)

NAME POS YR CMP ATT PYD Y/A FD PTD INT RSH RSHYD YD/RSH FD RSHTD FANT PT

Jake Plummer qb 2003 20 29 238 8.21 15 1 0 2 11 5.50 2 0 17.00

Jake Plummer qb 2004 18 29 230 7.93 11 2 2 8 23 2.88 3 0 19.80

Jake Plummer qb 2005 13 18 152 8.44 9 1 0 5 9 1.80 2 1 18.50

Another thing to keep in mind is KC will be starting Huard at QB. Broncos should start out with better field position on average thus more red zone opportunities. However, the odds of it becoming a high scoring affair with Damon Huard as QB for the Chiefs will be pretty slim. I see less passing yards for Jake but hopefully an increased chance to score more tds will make up for it.

Haha, that wasn't even the most "out there" prediction. Guess who the formula predicted would be #3 this season? The Oakland Raiders. Seriously.

I'm benching him for Brunell. Bruno looks like a safer play. While Plum has more upside this week, I want to make sure I get positive points out of my QB.

I also think that Dallas has a much softer defense than they get credit for.

Since coming to DEN, his rushing totals vs KC have been:3-22-03-10-08-23-03-26-05-9-11-8-0In 3 other games with ARI against KC:1-8-03-20-00-0-0I'd be shocked if he had 40-60 yards and a TD running the ball, but stranger things have happened.

I think Plummer bounces back this week. I think Denver will run up the score against a gimped out Chiefs team to show the home crowd they are still good.
