I was screaming at the screen NOT to kick the eventual winner

Thought we were handing Favre too good Field position

Plus the fact that NO KICKER has EVER kicked a 40 yarder or more in Lambeau Field scared me

glad i am not the Coach

I thought kick it all the way. You have to take the shot to win. Plus it'snice to see the guy redeem himself. He'll need that confidence in two weeks.

Plus, Tynes is better farther away, I think.

I have to admit that I would have gone for the 1st down and was surprised he went for the kick after Tynes missed the other 2, but it was a definite option and no other answer was a no brainer. this is a great example of a coach making a move that got his team in the SB, BUT if Tynes would have missed it Coughlin would have been unfairly crucified.

Told the wife on 3rd down.. Well this is 4 down territory. There is now way hell they try to kick from here..

Kicker comes out wife says. "No F'n way he makes this" Said, "yea, now the Pack will get the ball at the 37 good for Favre to redeem himself".

Few seconds later..

:goodposting:

That should read no opposing kick has ever kicked one over 40 yards in the postseason...that was a surprising stat they flashed after Tynes 1st or 2nd miss

I'm definately with you there. I thought there was no way that he tries a 47 yard FG with the weather, the high snap at the end of the 4th quarter and the miss from 43 yards earlier. If you didn't question the decision then you haven't been following the Giants. The coach had so little confidence in Tynes that earlier in the season, the Giants decided to go for a touchdown and leave 90 seconds on the clock rather than run the clock down and kick a 25 yard FG. Coughlin would have been ostracized in NY if Tynes misses the FG and the Packers win on the next drive.
