Who is Chris Redman? (1 Viewer)

Any sense of what kind of QB he is? Game manager? Gunslinger?

What do his abilities/style of play mean for Roddy White? For Gonzalez?

I don't really know Redman's style, but Roddy White first emerged a few years ago when Redman was QB (as well as Joey Harrington and Byron Leftwich)

I think Redman in there will still be good for Roddy and Gonzo since these guys are top-notch receivers that can produce with any QB.

He stunk it up when he was in Baltimore, but came on very strong at the end of 2007 for Atlanta. He looked good last week, he won't be much of a downgrade from Ryan IMO.

Obviously in hidsight I'm wrong, but I thought the Falcons should have gone with Redman and draft someone besides Ryan two years ago. Ryan exceeded my expectations, but I think Redman can be a good QB in this league.

He is a hold-over from Petrino, who had him at Louisville. Smith kept him, so can't be that bad. He helped the team have some fantasy relevance second half of the 2007 season before Ryan came in.

I was not impressed with his 15 incompletions in the 4th, and he doesn't seem have much of an arm. He seemed to be throwing exclusively at Gonzo, and I was suprised to see the TD to Roddy.

Sorry for bumping such an old thread, but I couldn't bring myself to start a new Chris Redman thread.

What I simply want to know is, what kind of value would Redman have should Ryan not be able to play for an extended stretch?

Would it be all Turner, all the time, or would they let him air it out a bit?

I'm an Atlanta fan.

If Ryan went down, Redman would be serviceable and would continue to take some shots to White/Jones/Douglas. However, he would throw considerably more picks. Turner/Snelling and Gonzalez would all get bumps if Redman was playing as he would more often take the safer play.

That being said, I can't really see a situation where I was playing Redman in fantasy. If Ryan goes down, you need a better backup on your fantasy roster than Chris Redman.

Thanks. Not looking at him as a "backup" in the true sense of the word.

Was just wondering if I should pick him up as more of a, you know... lottery ticket, as Atlanta has so many weapons.

In that case, if you had a very deep bench it may not be a terrible idea. However, Ryan isn't that injury prone and even if he went down, you probably have a better QB to play than Redman even with the ATL receivers.
