Who is this year's Jones-Drew? (1 Viewer)

Not necessarily a RB, but which rookie will be a productive fantasy starter available at the end of the 1st round in rookie drafts?

My pick is Gonzalez in Indy. I don't know whether he'll be able to adjust immediately, but it's a gut feeling I have. He could shine matching up against each teams nickel back on a weekly basis.

As for RB, I think Garrett Wolfe could surprise because I don't think Benson can stay healthy for 16 games.

I thought about that, and as I don't follow the Bears closely I may be wrong here, but hasn't Peterson had a couple of shots to be the #1 guy due to injuries over the years?

Depending on how quickly he catches on and where he is used at the line of scrimmage, I could see D. Jarrett having a very solid rookie season in Carolina.

Very true. When an injury occurs in Chicago, it is very likely that a Minnesota player will be the one to benefit!

Not sure if this is or ignorance. But, AP1 is the backup in Chicago. AP2 is in Minnesota.

I could see this. Manning is leading that Colts offense as efficiently as ever. The awful defense last year masked how well Manning, Harrison and Wayne really played. If they had a legit WR3, he could be a very solid home starter for FF purposes.

Well, yes this is likely true. What I'm asking is which rookie will surprise and put up numbers which make him a viable fantasy starter.It's all guesswork at this point, but fun to discuss in my opinion.Off to look more into Wright and Bradshaw.

Perhaps I misunderstood the question. I was thinking of a rookie who comes in with people expecting a very narrow set of responsibilities. With MJD, it was "return kicks...change of pace runner" and he proved to be so much more then that. In Bush's case, I'm thinking that he may be pigeonholed as "big goalline back" since people haven't seen him play in a while and don't know the status of his leg.

That's fair. Actually there are other similarities, too. In Jones-Drew's case, it wasn't just about finding PT in place of Fred Taylor, but a belief that Greg Jones and Alvin Pearman were legit barriers to playing time. Boy were they [couch that, I should say WE] wrong. In Bush's case, he's got Jordan and Rhodes to contend with, and that presumes Fargas and Crockett are goners.

I see and understand your point. But let me clarify. When I say Bush is my pick to be this year's MJD, I am not saying he will have anywhere near his stats, or even that they're similiar players. What I am saying though, is that he's in a very similiar situation. He's drafted in pretty much the same slot, and is stuck behind 1) a vet with IMO only average skills and 2) Lamont Jordan, coming off an injured/disappointing season. So it's plausible that he'll get on the field sometime this year in a committee situation, and possibly become like the post originator says..."a productive fantasy starter".

Chris Perry is not expected to be ready for the start of training camp because of the serious ankle-fibula fracture suffered in Week 12.
