Who is your favorite football player? (1 Viewer)

Either Steve Gerrard or Fernando Torres, can't decide. :goodposting:
Neither are fit to even clean Rooney or Ronaldo's boots. As a Niner fan I love what Frank Gore brings to the table each week, but my favourite non-Niner has to be Bob Sanders. That dude hits so hard he could play Aussie Rules.I also have a Cutler man crush. Kid could throw a football over 'dem mountains.

#1 - Ray Lewis

Runner Ups: Ed Reed, Clinton Portis, Reggie Wayne, Edgerrin James, Willis McGahee, Frank Gore, Andre Johnson, Santana Moss, Sinorice Moss, Roscoe Parrish, Kellen Winslow, Jeremey Shockey, Greg Olsen, Bubba Franks, Devin Hester, Jon Beason, Jonathan Vilma, DJ Williams, Rocky McIntosh, Antrel Rolle, Kenny Phillips, Vince Wilfork, Nate Webster, Jeff Feagles, Baraka Atkins, Calais Campbell, Leon Williams, Tavares Gooden, Bryant McKinnie, Eric Winston, Chris Myers, Brandon Meriweather, Kelly Jennings, Phillip Buchanon, Brock Berlin, Rashad Butler, Ken Dorsey, Orien Harris, Buck Ortega, Brett Romberg, Santonio Thomas, Williams Joseph, Vernon Carey, Damione Lewis, Darrell McClover, Jerome McDougle

Thats the difference between Real and Fantasy......

I'll start with mine. I'm a Steeler fan, but I would love this guy even if I wasn't, in the same way I loved Junior Seau in the 90's. Troy Polamalu gives 100% effort on every play, and he is a phenomenal safety. That interception he had yesterday in the 1st quarter was one of the greatest plays I have ever seen. Plus, he seems like a generally nice guy. 1st runner up: Marion Barber.
Barber here. I like Polamalu, but he's a bit hypocritical when he says the league is a pansy league then cries about his pom pom hair getting pulled, so he's out.

I can't believe it took 'till post #40 to say All Day!?

Kid seems very nice, sincere & humble but is the most exciting guy I have seen with the ball in his hands since Bo.

Other side of the ball, I'll go with Polomalu, but it would have been Dawkins a couple years ago. Love a little guy that'll buck ya.

In todays NFL.............MBIII and Calvin

Favorites of All Time..............Bo Jackson and Jerry Rice..............MAN they were GOOD.

I'm a Colts fan, so obviously biased, but I've always had a lot of respect for Reggie Wayne. He's not flashy or have killer speed and for years he was in Harrison's shadow and didn't get the Pro Bowl invites he deserved. Now that he is the #1 guy he quietly continues to produce and is one of the most consistent players in the league. There are many others on either side of the ball, but his was the first that came to mind.

I think ADP and Megatron are probably the most exciting though.

Troy P

Brees, for what he went through as a young player and his foundation

Jerod Mayo, went to my HS.

Another one for Polamalu - just so much fun to watch him fly around.

On offense, it may be blaspemous as a Jets fan, but I will still say Chad Pennington. Just a class act through and through, and he handled his release after the Favre trade with grace.

It's not easy to watch him with the hated Dolphins, but I'm actually glad he's doing well. I just hope not too well in the end, of course, especially considering the impending end-of-season matchup with the Jets.

Hines Ward--he's the offensive version of Polamalu, giving every ounce of energy on every play, plus his love for the game is evident the way he smiles whether he's the hitter or the hittee.

Runner-up--Fitzgerald, based on his class. Hand the ball to the ref and line up for the next play.

Cowboys fan.

1a. Jason Witten- One tough SOB, with nuthin but class.

1b. MB3- Another tough SOB. if watchin him run doesnt get you fired up, you need to watch another sport.

Cowboys fan as well (as many know).

Terence Newman, with Tony Romo a close second.

Outside of Dallas, it would have to be Jay Cutler.

I used to hate Kurt Warner, but now I realize how rare it is for a NFL QB to understand the game as well as he does.

I know he fumbles too much but the guy can put a ball where it is needed to be. Just fun to watch.

Just watching ....

Randy Moss .... Offense (Unreal talent)

Charles Woodson .... Defense (on of the best DBs that I am glad is overcoming injuries to star once again)

Who I have met and liked ....

Clinton Portis, hung out with him a few times in AC .. genuine , funny dude.

Edge james, laid back and funny ..

1) Peyton Manning - Love the way he approaches the game, and seems to be a good guy overall

2) Bob Sanders - I like Sanders a lot. However, because of the way he throws his body around coupled with his size, he's always hurt. That bothers me.

You have to like Dunn and Thomas Jones, people keep countng them out/over the hill/small/not good enough and they keep proving people wrong, plus from all acounts I hear they are both great people.

Clinton portis not because of his running, but I love seeing his pass block. He does it so well and never complains about being hurt.

D. Ware

Nothing pisses me off more then when the refs screw him over. He's so fast, he gets called for offsides because the refs can't believe he actually got off the ball as quick as he does.

I'm gonna tell Steve Smith all you guys picked someone else. Nice knowing you all :lmao: Garts your hospital stay should be a brief one, you were smart enough to at least put him on your list. :P
Watching Steve Smith is always VERY fun. Just watch how he scores. He Makes moves, most dynamic WR out there

I have 2:

MJD...just love the fact that he's smaller than me and hits like a champ. I could watch him lay out Meriman all day.

Cutler...history of diabetes in my family puts him on my list. could be a star for a long time here.
I first watched MJD in high school. It was a famous game- Long Beach Poly vs. Concord De La Salle. Poly was ranked #1 in the nation and featured such stars as Marcedes Lewis, Darnell Bing, Herschel Dennis, and Winston Justice. De La Salle was a much smaller school, but had not lost a game in five years! But they featured MJD, this dynamic little back with strong legs who ran all over the field. He literally won that game all by himself.
There was a ton of talent on that field that day. Manuel Wright was also on that Poly team, and De La Salle had Derek Landri (now with the Jags), and Matt Gutierrez (Patriots), among dozens of other D-1 talent.I will never forget when he ran over Darnell Bing to score one of his 4 (?) TDs that day. It was an incredible performance.
here are the highlights:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8lfItNsKUEU...=1&index=79

It's interesting to me that no one so far listed Brett Favre. I guess the whole offseason thing took away a big chunk of his popularity. If I had started this thread a year ago, I'm pretty sure Favre would be a popular choice.
I've always liked him because he seems to play football for the love of the game. Like Jake Delhomme for that same passion. Polamalu seems to be the same.

Jason Witten.....plays football the way you are supposed to.

Close second is Terrance Newman.

Favs from another teams....Bob Sanders/Anquan Boldin/Pat Willis

My homer pick is Matt Hasselbeck.

If i wasn't a seahawk fan, it would be easy. Clinton Portis. Luv his warrior mentality.

My favorite Portis Quote: "First thing I do when I get out of bed in the morning is put my chip on my shoulder!"

For me it is Peyton Manning -- the only time I have ever rooted against the guy is in the playoffs against KC and he beat 'em both times.

My homer offensive pick would be Gonzalez - can be a little jerk-ish at times, and I don't see him staying in KC after he retires, but is a great guy and a HOFer.

Defensively, not much on the Chiefs lol, but Tamba Hali is a great story and easy to root for. League-wide, I would have to say Champ Bailey -- the guy is so good at what he does.

Cowboys fan, so I have to give a nod to Marion Barber. The guy just runs so damn hard, and though the other team knows he's getting the ball there isn't a lot they can do to stop him.

I also love Adrian Peterson. Folks, we're seeing someone who is potentially going to be up there with the all-timers, in the infancy of his career.

Defensively, I love Antoine Winfield ... guy hits like a ton of bricks yet isn't any taller than I am. Can cover, too, and is just now starting to get the pub he's deserved for years. Watch any Vikings game on a national stage and listen to how much the announcers talk about the guy. He's the definition of football player.
