Who Puts Up Better Numbers From Here On Out? (1 Viewer)

Pennington - Has looked sharp through 2 weeks. Will Pennington & Coles continue to put up some solid numbers? Chad looks like the Chad of old. As usual......Pennington runs the risk of breaking his leg getting out of the shower.....can he stay healthy and be a top 10 fantasy QB?

Grossman - Who is this guy? Many believed that Griese would take over by week 3 after watching Rex stumble through a horrid preseason. Grossman looked like P.Manning this week against the Lions. Is Grossman for real?

P.Rivers - Hasn't needed to pass with Tomlinson & Turner facing off against the Raiders & Titans. Rivers has looked solid....will he start putting up some big numbers when the Chargers face off against better teams or will this be Marty Ball & Tomlinson all year?

Who puts up the best fantasy stats by season end?

GROSSMAN

cake schedule, defense and special teams will give the bears good field position and ample opportunity to score every game; defenses are playing the run and they will continue to with that great run game

pick him up in all your leagues!

:homer:

I'm thinking of sticking Bulger on the bench for Pennington, long term.

I want to stick with Marc because of the hookup with Holt, but at 0-2, I can't wait any longer.

The only thing about Grossman is that as good as he looks now, he'll be playing in some crappy weather come FF playoff time.

EDITED TO ADD: And with that defense he might be looked upon more not to win games but to not lose them. On the other hand, Pennington could be involved in a shootout every week.

Grossman's been impressive but he makes Pennington look like a paragon of durability. In either case, if you have them, ride them while they're vertical.

Rivers will be asked to feed Gates and Tomlinson and otherwise stand on the sidelines watching the D rip people apart.

Of the three, CP>Rex>>Rivers performance wise, Rivers>>>>CP>REx durability wise.

Pennington will probably have the advantage of playing from behind more often than Grossman or Rivers. All three QBs look good. I'd be looking to trade for any of them right now (or pick Grossman up off waivers if he's still there in any leagues).

I'd probably rank them Pennington, Rivers, Grossman right now. But I like all three.

Let's not forget, too, that The Chad has already proven that he's a stud when healthy. In his first season starting, he had a near-70% completion percentage (I believe it's a record for a first-time starter), a 3.5:1 TD:Int ratio, and 7.8 yards per attempt. It was perhaps the best first season I've ever seen from any QB (he beat Marino's first-season marks in all three categories, although Penny had the advantage in that he wasn't really a rookie). Most importantly, The Chad did it with an awful running game (22nd in yards, 23rd in ypa). His defense wasn't very good that season, either (14th in points, 24th in yards).

Of the three, I vote for The Chad, without question. He's simply the most proven of the bunch. It doesn't surprise me in the slightest that he's producing like he is when he's healthy... the only surprising thing is that he's healthy again after those shoulder surgeries. Still, it's pretty clear that he's healthy, so he's really just picking up where he left off.

I'm gonna go with Rivers. He's played great and you've gotta imagine he's only going to get more work from here.

I have not heard anyone say anything about the ground game for either one of these teams. I think Grossman will eventually cool off, b/c they have Thomas Jones and Cedric. Rivers has LT. BUT!!! Who does Chad have in his running game? Answer.. Nobody.. Barlow and Blaylock are not getting the job done, so Chad has to air it out to put points on the board. The Jets defense also gives up a lot of points. Pennington I think has more potential to put up bigger numbers as long as he is healthy.

He says he is struggling with the new system, but will get better.

Chad is certainly the best NFL QB of this bunch, and by a pretty wide margin. However, let's not get carried away. I think the best first-time starters from an NFL perspective were Roethlisberger and Marino, the two guys who took their team to a Superbowl as rookies. From an FF perspective, the best first-time QB starter was probably Daunte Culpepper in 2000, who was 297 for 424, 3937 yards, 33 TDs to 16 INTs and a 98.0 QB rating. Oh yeah, he also ran for 470 yards and 7 TDs. I love the Chad, but Culpepper clearly ahd the better season. But back to the question. I say Pennington for the following reasons:1. Best WR corps now that COles seems to be unhindered by his toe injury and Cotcherry has developed into a reliable option on the other side. The Jets 4th WR is Tim Dwight, and Brad Smith plays behind him. That's exellent depth behind the starters as well.2. The running game for the Jets may improve, but it will not be reliable. The Jets will use the pass to set up the run all season. The same cannot be said of the Bears or Chargers, both of whom have strong running games.3. Pennington ahs the experience edge. It's like in baseball -a hitter comes up from the minor leagues, and b/c noody has a book on him yet, he's succesful. But once pitchers figure him out, he becomes ordinary again. Grossman and Rivers may eventually be excellent NFL QBs, but right now they are winning in part b/c the defense is not designed to stop them. Pennington has already proven that he is a great QB, so as long as he stays healthy and the running game sags, he will put up numbers.
