Who will be on the Clock Next Year (1 Viewer)

Its only week 3... but its looking like there are going to be some decent teams with High draft picks next year. And this Rookie Class is sounding real Good

NOS, STL, ATL, BUF, & MAI are all 0 - 3 and are looking awful.

Besides MAI and maybe BUF; anyone of these teams can easily turn it around next season with a good draft.

Which team do you guys see on the clock next Draft Day?

Not sure about Buffalo being the #1 overall pick, but they better draft one of Brian Brohm, Colt Brennan, Matt Ryan or even John David Booty with one of their first two picks. I personally like Matt Ryan, whose value is increasing each week. A strong QB draft this year, but it's fairly top heavy.

At the moment, I'm thinking BUF. However, NO has simply looked lost. Their defense is a joke and can't stop anyone (and now Jason David has a broken arm or something...but that may be a good thing).I know everyone will say that NO has too many weapons to be as bad as they are showing, but they are struggling getting those "weapons" involved in the offense. The O-line has looked pathetic as well as the game planning. With that loss at home to the Titans, the Saints are officially circling to toilet bowl. There is no excuse for them to lose that game. And VY beat them without having to run!

I think it will be either St. Louis (not sure about that though) or Kansas City (feel better about that one).

If its not a no-brainer Peyton/Carson type quaterback, which I don't think any of those are any team would be silly to draft a QB at #1. It's just far too much money to pay a rookie.

Buffalo has been decimated by injuries & they play the NFL's hardest schedule. I think they're the only team that can challenge Atlanta for the #1 pick.

Miami, St Louis, KC, & NO all have enough healthy talent to get at least 4 wins.

Agreed, plus Buffalo won't throw the ball

St. Louis or Kansas City. Both are downright AWFUL, IMO. KC could use Woodson, but I have no idea who StL would select first overall. I could see an outside chance that Glenn Dorsey could go #1, but he'd have to test out of this world at the combine in addition to being great this season.

I would Love to see Glenn Dorsey in Dallas :lmao: . Although the best WR in the draft would work - lined up on the opposite side of TO! Browns pick still a top 5?

BuffaloInjuries, a lot of young players and perhaps not enough talent.
Injuries have been unreal, so I hate to say it, but it will probably be Buffalo.Look at the injuries to their starting D...FS Out for yearCB Out for yearCB Out ??MLB Out for yearOLB Out#3 DE Out
What's the record for most players on IR? I heard the Bills are now up to 7. :goodposting:

:no:
Please, don't remind me. Thompson was offered it before the Cowboys, but turned it down so he could take Harell. :goodposting:

Why would Buffalo draft a QB? I think Trent Edwards could work out. We'll see how the season progresses.

Kansas City will be OTC first.

I feel better about LJ, the Chiefs D and Arrowhead winning the Chiefs games than an injury decimated Rams offense with no defense and no real home field advantage trying to get it done for the Rams.

There are 5 teams a game behind KC right now. How in the heck is Atlanta or Buffalo even going to win a game? Bad defenses, bad offenses, no identity, injuries......All the Chiefs have going against them is a really, really bad offense and Herm. They are healthy, their D is good and they have one of the best homefield advantages in the league. Aside from a serious string of injuries, they are a 5 or 6 win team. I don't see ATL or BUF winning more than 4.

Yeah. You're probably right. KC' sched should allow them to win more than either Buffalo and Atlanta:KC's sched:

Yeah, Marv and Jauron are very high on Edwards. I don't think they will select a QB anywhere in the first day at least. They need a WR to go opposite of Evans. It's brutal what we have to throw to besides him and the D knows that.They are really into building from the inside out. I can see a DL or a OL with the first pick (or hopefully second).They could obviously use another top CB. McGee is decent but we need a #1 CB and McGee is not that. He is a great #2 though.

this is simple: da bears

the defense is dropping like flies. without a dominant defense to save their ###es, the bears are quite possibly the worst team in the nfl.

I have to think Buffalo will be there at season's end. The season just seems jinxed from the word go - you've got Everett's terrible injury in Week 1 coupled with Denver just squeaking out a win where the Bills played some gutty football all day, the defense is a MASH unit which had already lost Clements and Spikes in the off-season, and their starting QB (who was playing poorly anyway) just got hurt, handing the reigns to a rookie quarterback. There are other worthy contenders for worst record, but things seem to be brewing up a perfect storm for Buffalo to have the #1 pick.

The Bills are a team that will need to trade down to add picks. That isn't entirely because of injuries this year but exactly for the reasons you state. They have so many needs. DT, CB, WR2, TE. And that doesn't include the need for a RG, additional backup OLineman, back up WR's, back up LB's, Backup DLineman, Backup DB's.....the list is too long.If they are able to pull off a deal similar to what the Chargers got from the Giants for Eli Manning, that would be an extremely good start.

Jusin Harrell will be a game changer. Coery Williams will be gone after this year so we dont have another Cledius Hunt on the team.I think the Bills or Chieds will have the 1st pick.

Agreed. Except TE would be the least of my concern. I'd go with CB, WR2, OL, DT, & a coach with some balls to take a chance in that order.

As long as SF doesn't end up with a top 10 pick I will be happy.

Definitely don't want NE picking that high.

The problem with the Saints getting a high draft pick is they may not have the cap room for it. It would be very interesting to see what they did if that happened.

No doubt StL is taking either the best Lineman or Corner that comes out of this draft.....

Which pick does the Pats lose???? Their own or the highest one.

Anyone who says the Chiefs will pick first at this point is mildly ######ed. They're in first place in the AFC West with 6 of their next 8 games at Arrowhead, the most difficult place to play in the NFL. I think it could be St Louis, they are looking pretty bad.

i'd put the bears on the clock.without a great defense, i can't think of a team that's worse than the bears.
To go from Super Bowl participant to #1 overall pick would be unprecedented.But it is possible.Didn't the Bears also go 13-3 and then 3-13 in back-to-back years a couple years back?

I'd say the Jets. There's already rumblings of the team starting to turn on Mangini and I just don't see anything great going on with that defense, especially the front 7.

IMHO we should only consider teams with 0 or 1 wins at this point.

YEAR - NFL (W-L, 2nd Win)

---------------------------------

1997 - IND (3-13, Game #14)

1998 - PHI (3-13, Game # 9)

1999 - CLE (2-14, Game #10)

2000 - SDC (1-15, Game #NA)

2001 - CAR (1-15, Game #NA)

2002 - CIN (2-14, Game #15)

2003 - SDC (4-12, Game # 9)

2004 - SFO (2-14, Game #13)

2005 - HOU (2-14, Game #14)

2006 - OAK (2-14, Game # 8)

2007 - ??? (?-??, Game #8+?)

Since 1997 (last 10 seasons), the teams who finished last overall have all gone at least 1-6, or 0-7 to start the season. Oakland last year has the earliest 2nd win of the season, coming in Week #8. I might check this out for 1996 and earlier when/if I get a chance.

Total No. of Wins:

1 Wins = 2 teams

2 Wins = 5 teams

3 Wins = 2 teams

4 Wins = 1 teams

5 Wins = 0 teams

Current Win Totals

0 = St. Louis Rams

0 = Miami Dolphins

0 = New Orleans Saints

1 = Buffalo Bills

1 = Atlanta Falcons

1 = New York Jets

1 = Minnesota Vikings

1 = Philadelphia Eagles

1 = Chicago Bears

1 = San Diego Chargers

1 = Cincinnati Bengals

------------------------ <-- SuperJohn96 Cutoff line

2 = Cleveland Browns

2 = Baltimore Ravens

2 = Jacksonville Jaguars

2 = Tennessee Titans

2 = Houston Texans

2 = Oakland Raiders

2 = Denver Broncos

2 = Kansas City Chiefs

2 = Washington Redskins

2 = New York Giants

2 = Carolina Panthers

2 = San Francisco 49ers

2 = Arizona Cardinals

3 = Pittsburgh Steelers

3 = Detroit Lions

3 = Tampa Bay Buccaneers

3 = Seattle Seahawks

4 = New England Patriots

4 = Indianapolis Colts

4 = Dallas Cowboys

4 = Green Bay Packers
I think Cincy, San Diego, Chicago, Philly, Minny and the Jets are better than their records indicate, so I would consider all three 0 win teams, plus the Bills and Falcons with a strong case for finishing last overall.

Fixed.They WILL NOT win that division. But they will end the season with a respectable record. I figure 7-9 or 8-8. The o-line is still atrocious.

You mean the Lions won't be able to select a WR with a high pick again this year?

I vote for StL
