Who do you think will have the better year this year Edge or Maurice drew Jones....Both are similar ranked all across the web...

MJD easy.

Edge is still playing in Arizona, and you really can't expect him to produce much on that team. Not even Emmitt Smith could revive his career there. MJD, on the other hand, has similar talent and plays on a team with an exceptionally good O-line. You simply can't ignore his performance last year as a fluke: it was consistent all year.

I did hear that Edge is in better shape , they do have the ex pit cordinator that promises to give him the rock and improved line play should earn him some good resulte perhaps 1300 yards and 8-9 tds

Maurice shares the rock and last year may of been a fluke

Tough call. I would think Drew is better in PPR but who knows. I do know if he's a fluke I'm dead meat because he's my #2 RB. :headbang:

Remember that Emmitt was about 48 when he went to Arizona and would have had trouble running behind the hogs of the 80s. I am drinking the Edge Kool-Aid this year, for better or worse, and will take him as my # 2 RB behind Gore (my keeper).

2006:

Edge ~1370 total yards, 6 total TDs

MJD ~1370 total yards, 15 total TDs

MJD did it with roughly half the touches! and there's NO doubt he'll get more touches this year

why is this a serious discussion again?

Ive been tossing this back in forth as I am mocking for my upcoming draft. I have seen Edge available to 3.04 in most drafts. MJD is usually gone by mid 2nd rnd.

I tend to hesitate because MJD is in RBBC. I've heard that Fred is in good shape and is looking to take the majority of carries. But we also heard that last year. Has JDR said what the split will be between the two? I haven't seen any Jax pre-season games yet. How has MJD looked?

The new coaching regime in AZ looks promising for Edge. The oline looks to be a little improved, although the injuries to the line is concerning. I expect AZ's offense to be more ground oriented with Edge this year.

I rank both close to each other, but I'm comfortable going into the season with Edge as my RB2. I can't say I feel that comfortable with MJD as my RB2, unless I make sure to grab Taylor in the later rounds.

If you think that they will have similar stats but you have to grab MJD in round 2 or Edge in round 3 - that's the kind of value I'm looking for. Some of the top WR's are available where you have to draft MJD. For me, that seals the deal

I don't understand what the issue is - MJD is going as a first rounder, whereas Edge can be had as a 2nd/3rd rounder (absolutely great value). If they are comparable in stats, Edge is CLEARLY the outperformer vs. ADP.

Edge is done. Seriously. Unless he gets our of ARZ he is done.

MJD and this isn't even close (and I'm not even a big proponent of MJD).

keep an eye out for ronnie brown. you may get him late due to the chatman buzz. i got him after edge and joes-drew were already taken.

MJD for many years to come

not as many TD's as last year, but still solid numbers. in keeper leagues he is a great pick

Why is there NO DOUBT that he'll get more touches this year?
Jags want to win.........
In the 12 games Fred Taylor was healthy MJD averaged 8 carries a game. Taylor is now getting $5 million a year after signing a new deal. From what I've seen, Taylor universally is being tabbed as the starter and MJD as the backup by anyone affiliated with the team. (Taylor's health is always a potential issue.)People can conclude whatever they want from that information.

wrong..Emmitt couldn't revive his career, because his career was over before he ever left Dallas..Emmitt played in a system that was filled with subpar talent in Az,from the coaching staff on down to the o-line, QB, etc..this new coaching staff has the O-line whipped into shape, Boldin looks unstoppable, and Fitz/Johnson offer a solid 1/2 punch....even JJ Arrington has avg'd over 4.0 per clip in preseason so far.that bodes well for Edge.Leinart has looked ALL WORLD , completing well over 70% of his passes in preseason.this is going to be a breakout year for the Cards team, they could be this year's surprise team just like the Saints were last season.MJD is good, sure, but he's splitting with Fred Taylor, and has serious QB issues ....I don't buy MJD repeating his 16 tds from last season, he'll be lucky to get 1/2 that in 2007.

MJD won't be getting the Rodney Dangerfield treatment after this year. 2006 was NOT a fluke. He has been a TD gettin' stud RB for a long time. Anybody watching him week in and week out at UCLA can attest to that..

Thank you very much to the person that invented the acronym "RBBC". So easy to scare off fantasy footballers from RBs. Not sure why the same people scared about MJD are not scared off by Reggie Bush.
