With Pollard getting drafted in the second round who will eventually be the odd man out?

Wesley- FS

Knight -SS

Or will pollard sit the bench forever?

This is a tough call to make. I think Wesley is done.

Both are signed through 2009. Knight is 31, Wesley is 30. Not much wrong with Wesley right now. His fantasy production (read: tackle stats) dipped a little last season after moving to free safety but his coverage stats were as solid as ever - six picks and eight passes defended. Knight was solid across the board but was greatly exposed in coverage at times.

Pollard sits behind them in 2006. I think Wesley is a bit better fit for the Cover-2 scheme if Herm decides to go that route, but Knight is still more than capable in coverage. Pollard could be converted to linebacker as well, although nothing I've read from the Chiefs' brass suggests that he will.

I agree - tough call. I may lean toward Knight as the odd man out, but there's no easy answer here.

Personally, I think the Wesley & Knight tandem will be intact for one more year, then Wesley will get his walking papers. If you the patience to sit on him for a year, I think it would be a good pickup. In additon, the Chiefs secondary is not very deep, so he could see playing time in the nickel package. Hope this helps!

RAPTURE

Wesley is not entrenched. Knight is getting slow, and is not good in coverage anymore ... after this year either could be vulnerable. Pollard seems more likely to cut into SS time than FS time ...

Pollard is Sammy Knight reincarnated. He's a "slower-than-normal" safety whose bread-n-butter is run support. On a side note, I was surprised the Chiefs did not grab Darnell Bing if they were looking for a 220lb+ masher in run-support. Obviously, the NFL knew something I didn't since Bing fell to the 4th-round, but I was a little surprised Pollard was their pick.

BTW, Wesley is only 28 year-old. I seriously don't mean to be nit-picky, but some FF'ers (wrongfully) get terrified when they see the number "30". I would not want somebody to make a deal based on two measily years.
