Who's gonna spend a bag of chips on Lee Evans? (1 Viewer)

Last year Chad Johnson had 3 consecutive bad games:3 catches 37 yds, 0 TDs3 catches 32 yds, 0 TDs4 catches, 53 yds, 0 TDsHe also had a 1 catch for 11 yd game.So I would say yes, sometimes studs do have a few poor games in a row. Is Lee Evans a true #1 fantasy WR? No idea, though it definately doesn't look like it right now. But the assertion that studs don't struggle for more than a game or two isn't completely true IMO.
Wait a sec. You mean to say:5 catches for 29 yards = 10 catches for 122 yardsNeither is going to win you any games, but by a typical scoring system, Chad's production is about 4 times as great.A top WR should never be shut out like Evans has been over the past 3 weeks. One week, okay.. but 3 in a row? He's a low WR2 and falling fast.

As I said earlier, I'm not worried. I've had him on my team before and knew these first 3 games would probably be ugly due to great pass defenses combined with his notorious slow starts.
Maybe you have his high school and college football records on hand, but the dude hasn't been around long enough in the NFL to have any sort of trend. Is his 200 yard games in week 11 a trend? What about week 14? There's no intuition behind why such a "slow start" trend would exist for Evans, let alone one that is statistically significant.
No, I don't have his high school and college football records on hand but I posted his week 1-8 vs 9-17 stats in another Lee Evans thread about a week ago if you want to find it marky mark

I traded Bernard Berrian and Brandon Jackson in a 16 team salary capped league ....... for Lee Evans

If he doesn't get 5-6 catches, 70-80 yards and a score this coming week I'm going to really hate that deal

I got the owner to give me him and Dallas Clark for Branch. Branch was sitting on my bench anyway behind Harrison, Driver, Marshall. Branch always kills me with his disappearing act anyway and I needed another TE.

I have Lee in 2 leagues and will start him. And no i dont expect much but thats who i want to play. They are good team and im sticking with him. Just like i will play LJ and LT in other leagues even if i have guys doing better. I play my best proven players and i win most of the time
:goodposting:

I traded Santana Moss for him this Saturday. Worst case scenario, I lost the same type of unpredictable player. I think Evans will turn it up. He's too talented not too. Granted, the QB situation in Buffalo is UGLY, but eventually he's going to get his catches.

@. Retract your offer of Holmes for Evans. Holmes will OUTPERFORM Eveans this year by a wide margin. Evans is an extremely talented receiver (but so is Holmes). But Evans is in a terrible situation with no QB and no supporting receivers to take the pressure off him. I don't see that changing much this year. He is a 1200 yard receiver in a 300 yard offense.
I won't argue that. However, Evans has Cleveland and New York Giants during the fantasy playoffs. The Bills are the only team who face a bottom 5 pass defense in BOTH week 15 and 16. I'm looking big picture here...the fantasy football playoffs. My team is 3-0 and looking like a lock to roll to the playoffs. If you need Evans to produce NOW...maybe hold off. But I think he is worth it just for those playoff matchups.
IF he does nothing most of the season you think he is going to pop up, because of those match ups, and put up numbers in the playoffs. I'm holding on to him basically, because I don't think I can get anything for him. I'd think long and hard Homes for Evans.

If you can spare the depth, I am willing to wager that Evans is available for your WR3 in most leagues.

If you own Evans (like I do in one league) his value will not get lower so he is not worth trading. Unless you have to play every WR on your roster (and there are some folks who draft very thin at WR and have ot play all the ones on their roster), my advice is to simply demote Evans out of your starting lineup. That's what I plan to do - I shored the spot up in the draft b/c I had no faith in Evans as a WR1 when I drafted him.

Unfoprtunately, I chose the wrong receiver last week and started Engram in place of Evans iunstead of Curtis.

My point? You probably have to hold Evans as you will not get anthing decent back for him - BUT, if someone offers you something like SMoss or you can package him as incentive in a 2 for 1, why would you NOT trade him for starting lineup help?

How do you guys think he'll fare against the NYJ this weekend? Seems like a favorable matchup to me...even w/ T. Edwards at QB.

Point is he had 3 bad games in a row. I don't think anyone would argue Chad's 3 games were poor games. I wasn't comparing Lee Evans' numbers to Chads', merely pointing out that studs sometimes don't perform well. CJ did NOT perform well those weeks.
