I'm pretty sure everything you just described falls under the heading of marketing.i dont think its good marketing. i think its because most people are just too stupid to take more than 5 seconds to realize that there's more to eat for lunch than the place with the flashing neon lights and plastic food. these are the same people who buy reeboks instead of nike's and drive pontiacs. who actually wakes up one morning and says 'hey! i'm gonna go buy a pontiac car today!"good marketing always has and always will trump quality

Funny, we don't have Chipotle near us. So we settle for Mexican food out of a trailer in a small town. and it's AWESOMEI'm pretty sure everything you just described falls under the heading of marketing.i dont think its good marketing. i think its because most people are just too stupid to take more than 5 seconds to realize that there's more to eat for lunch than the place with the flashing neon lights and plastic food. these are the same people who buy reeboks instead of nike's and drive pontiacs. who actually wakes up one morning and says 'hey! i'm gonna go buy a pontiac car today!"good marketing always has and always will trump quality
You realize that most people rarely make choices based on quality right?
Be glad you have the authentic place two doors down.. i'd do business there as well but I don't have that type of place near me... so I have to use the Chipotle.
Ain't this the truth. This is Iowa. The nearest "real taqueria," assuming that means what I think it does, is two time zones away.
Time is money. I'm not standing in like for some extra bits of meat.I'm not an emaciated clarinet player type, and I like to get maximum value out of any transaction, so I do.I'm not a fatty, so I don't need the extra.Crazy talk.Always order online.Cuz they're idiots.
Order that #### online and walk to the front.
"Welcome to Chipotle. What can I get ya?"
"A steak burrito, my good man!"
"There ya go. What else you want on there?"
"Tarry a moment, friend! Would you be so kind as to roughly quadruple the amount of steak on there?"
"Uh...yeah, sure."
"Superlative! Now, let's get a fresh tub of guac out here. We're going to be loading up..."

There are people for whom this sentiment actually means something. Those people are having Michelin-starred chefs personally deliver and then hand-feed them Wagyu burritos as they stride confidently on their penthouse treadmills, buying Anacott Steel.Time is money. For the rest of us, there is still value in a burrito so overstuffed it develops its own weather systems.![]()
You know what type of people speak in absolutes?not really. there are some things out there that are objectively worse than their alternatives. take subway sandwiches for example. you're never going to convince anyone that a subway sandwich is better than a sandwich at a real deli, yet lo and behold right across the street from where i work, there's a subway next door to an an awesome italian deli which btw is also cheaper, and guess which one has the longer line. people in general are stupid, plain and simple. Some people have different preferences than you. Don't get all worked up about it.

Even if this was your point, which is still wrong, Chipotle is a horrible example.Scoresman said:its not about my preferences. there are plenty of other examples of stuff where there is more than one acceptable option that may not match with my preferences, but you're not gonna convince a sane poerson that subway or chipotle is better than the real thing, especially when the real thing is right next door, cheaper, and has a shorter line. people need to look up from their electronic gizmos and look around once in a while.Mister Martie said:Scoresman said:not really. there are some things out there that are objectively worse than their alternatives. take subway sandwiches for example. you're never going to convince anyone that a subway sandwich is better than a sandwich at a real deli, yet lo and behold right across the street from where i work, there's a subway next door to an an awesome italian deli which btw is also cheaper, and guess which one has the longer line. people in general are stupid, plain and simple.Mister Martie said:Some people have different preferences than you. I have both where I work. i work and live in one of the best culinary areas of the world, which is why i shake my head when people stand in line for chipotle and subway.Bob Sacamano said:Why would you work right across the street from a Subway when you could work right across the street from a real taqueria with real mexican food and no line?Scoresman said:yet lo and behold right across the street from where i work, there's a subway next door to an an awesome italian deli which btw is also cheaper,Mister Martie said:Some people have different preferences than you. Do tell. There is always a line because they ask you a lot of questions. I went there just wanting a burrito and once I paid I felt like I had just played jeopardy. Just put whatever you're supposed to put on it and the line would move fast. I prefer other options.
out of desperation, yes. chipotle is at least edible. Subway on the other hand is horrible. one thin layer of meat, plastic cheese, etc. I'd rather eat my own #### to be honestHave you ever had Chipotle or Subway?I have both where I work. i work and live in one of the best culinary areas of the world, which is why i shake my head when people stand in line for chipotle and subway.Bob Sacamano said:Why would you work right across the street from a Subway when you could work right across the street from a real taqueria with real mexican food and no line?Scoresman said:yet lo and behold right across the street from where i work, there's a subway next door to an an awesome italian deli which btw is also cheaper,Mister Martie said:Some people have different preferences than you. Do you want this or that? This or that? Do you want that? What kind of this? This? Did you also want this? How about that? That costs extra, do you want it? Some of this? not really angry. just don't understand some people. So the OP is upset that a place he fancies doesn't have longer lines? Yeah, everyone else is stupid.
I feel that way any time I see somebody enter an office building.not really angry. just don't understand some people. So the OP is upset that a place he fancies doesn't have longer lines? Yeah, everyone else is stupid.
haven't you ever been in a situation that makes you want to shake your head and grin to yourself as you pass by the mindless sheep assuming their roles as good, unquestioning consumers?
this.Chipolte is awesome.

Right. They're at exact opposite ends of the spectrum in terms of food quality. Subway uses crappy factory-farmed meat, highly processed and loaded with fillers.TheWalkmen said:Chipotle is high-quality. Subway not so much.
People like processed garbage.Scoresman said:when there is a real taqueria two doors over with real mexican food and it has no line?
Great advise.Speaking of which..... If you ask them to mix it, you can enjoy your burrito with each bite rather then one bite of lettuce, one bite of rice, one bite of chicken.
I'm a huge Chipotle fan. I think the carnitas are great and the chicken very good. Carne asada - meh.UniAlias said:Chipotle is delicious.![]()
