Sure I'll give you that. But that isn't the case for the vast overwhelming percentage of the prison population.

The whole issue of gang involvement brings a new level of complexity to it, too. As long as they're regarded as "in" the gang, I think rehab is pretty much impossible. And if they are genuinely "out" of the gang after they are in, then you need to have a physically separate housing area or an entirely different jail for former gang members because they're going to be walking targets otherwise.

Ummm. doubtful. In order to be out of the gang, they have to "flip" and basically rat out every gang member they possibly can. The only reason they'll do this is if they're going to be killed anyhow because they didn't fall in line in some way. not like they suddenly saw the light while a gang member and just decided it would be better not to be a member. That's just not reality.

Rehab doesn't work on sociopaths.
Besides, what are you going to do, retrain Aaron Hernandez so he can earn an honest wage and doesn't have to resort to crime to drug trafficking to support himself?

Belichick has been incredibly candid and forthcoming in his press conference. Granted, the whole thing was prepared, but he is doing exactly what he should do.

Again everyone isn't a sociopath. And if you read down further I agreed that not everyone could be rehabbed. However we aren't really trying with anyone. Then when they get out and can't support themselves because job training programs largely don't exist any more we get to be all high horse about recidivism that we essentially baked right into the system.Rehab doesn't work on sociopaths.

Agree. Credit where credit is due- of all the NFL head coaches whose teams have employed mass murderers, Belichick definitely handled it with the most grace and eloquence.

Browns running back Dion Lewis isn’t the only one who thinks Carlos Ortiz is a snitch.
Kevin Manahan of USA Today takes at close look at Ortiz’s neighborhood in Bristol, Connecticut, and the man known locally as “Charlie” or “Charlie Boy” may not want to go back, if/when he ever gets out of jail.
“Everybody knows that Charlie told,” Ortiz’s cousin, Jose “Ito” Torres said. “He’s been labeled a rat. He’s done. He’s done. You’re going to have another breaking news [story] on TV.”
The thinking in the neighborhood is that Ortiz should not have cooperated with police.
“That’s Aaron Hernandez,” local resident Amber Schryer said. “You tell the police you don’t know anything.”
“That’s my cousin and I love him,” Torres said. ”But he got caught up with the wrong people and they used him. If he thinks you’re his friend, he’s going to go all out for you. He has a good heart, but he’s not very smart.”
Ortiz isn’t smart, for many reasons. And now he has a major problem. He has told police the whole story regarding the murder of Odin Lloyd. If Ortiz refuses to cooperate moving forward, he’s probably already said enough to allow prosecutors to secure a conviction that will put him away for the rest of his life.

Problem is, even if he is acquitted on the murder charges, the 5 gun charges are going to stick and in MA, that's no laughing matter, either, and will be good for some jail time. Though, by the time the verdict comes in, he might have enough time served on those charges.
