Why don't we discuss Aaron Hernandez here? (1 Viewer)

I'm picturing the scene in Shawshank when they arrested Hadley...

"I wasn't there to see it, but I hear Byron Hadley was sobbing like a little girl when they took him away."

You could see reality set in as they described his exact locations. They have him on surveillance with a gun saying he's upset he can't trust anybody anymore and then leaving his house to pick up victim. I missed whether there was video of them with guns afterwards.

Yup - walking through his house with the gun to turn off his surveillance system

Yes, video afterwards showing Hernandez walking into his house with a gun that would match the caliber of the bullets. He and the guys walk down into his basement, and then they turn off the surveillance cameras.

Jesus.

They did...came back with guns in hand in house when going to turn off surveillance vid

I haven't been following this at all. Reading the posts here, there seems to be a strong consensus that he is guilty. Is there anyone here who doubts this?

Hah! They turned off the surveillance cameras? Brilliant! Now the police have nothing!

No. His rental car tires placed at the scene. Him holding guns on video. shell casings found at the scene and in his rental car

Did he really think, until 10min ago, he was going to get away with driving half a mile down the road, shooting some guy in the head and driving home? It's just unbelievable stupidity layered on top of the insanity needed to commit murder.

So guns before, "I can't trust anybody", tracked to victims house, sister saw victim get into Hernandez rental car, tracked to other locations where body was basically, video with guns afterwards, and evidence going to destroy video. Shortest trial ever?

But it's only circumstantial evidence. /cop shows

It's too bad that someone is dead but...

This is a riot...they turned off the security cameras AFTER they murdered someone? :lmao:

As they showed the security footage, did they do it to the sounds of the theme from Benny Hill?

Defense calls prosecution case weak. I am all about advocating for your client, but I am surprised the courtroom didn't erupt with laughter.

What an unbelievably stupid arrogant person. If he did do it, I sincerely wish he spends the rest of his life in prison. What a wasted life.

Ray Lewis has shown him the way- rat on your friends, pay the family and every time you are on television praise the Lord.

 Wow...I wonder if his attorney was aware of this before the hearing?
Probably not.

The truth is that this is an overwhelming amount of evidence.

Also, the prosecution didn't "need" to lay out this much, and every syllable of the case that the prosecution uttered puts his neck farther out by committing them to certain "facts" which the defense can attack. The point is that they wouldn't cite any evidence in this sort of hearing without having a lot of confidence in its ability to stand up to scrutiny, and especially in a high profile case.

I'm sure the defense will nitpick certain details here and there - you always can - but this really sounds like they got him dead to rights.

And again, the monumental stupidity of walking through your house holding a gun to turn off the surveillance system is simply laughable.

Listened to as much as I could. There is a lot of circumstancial evidence. Held without bail is harsh. I doubt they win that on appeal either.

I have no idea about the murder charge, but listening to the charges and the evidence referenced at the arraignment, he is definately going to jail for awhile. The gun possession charges alone are going to see him inside for several years because even if they go through evidence or someone else confesses, or whatever happens to make the state pull the murder charge, they aren't going to let him go away clean after this. I'm betting right now he's inside for at least those 2 years without blinking.

Unreal.

I would say it's pretty safe to assume the prosecution has one of the accomplices or so talking to them.
In all fairness, I would really like to hear the defense's case. So far all we have heard is the prosecution's timeline and that's a long, long way from being a fair trial.

that said, the way the Patriots wasted no time in releasing him and then getting rid of all his jerseys in the Pro Shop... basically trying to erase any association they have with him.... doesn't help the guy look "more not guilty."

Roger Cossack, ESPN's legal analyst, just tried to claim the same thing.

Whats not fair about the timeline?

He is going to take a plea deal. He has no other choice.
The only thing in it would be to avoid the death penalty.

He's the one dude in the car with the motive, and he's got the most direct relationship with the victim apparently. He's got a gun in his hand and he's involved in covering up the evidence. In short, he's screwed. Maybe he can convince someone that one of his other buddies actually pulled the trigger, but I'm skeptical.

We don't know all the facts that will ultimately come out (and I'm sure more will, including some negative ones about the victim), but I agree that Hernandez is looking into the abyss right about now.

It is fairly circumstantial - at least for the murder charge. The possession charges though are slam dunk. I think it's 2-2.5 years a pop for the weapons charges, (as I said above) so he's in for those at least = 5-6 years easy? Probably.

Based on what I read in the Boston Marathon thread, No death pen in MA.

His buddies are going to sing like a canary.
