Why is Chris Johnson the consensus #1? (1 Viewer)

One hit wonder? I saw a dropoff coming and opted for Peterson as the safer pick in my 2 new dynasty leagues that I was lucky enought to land the #1 pick in back in July. However, I think CJ will represent some serious value in next year's drafts IF the Titans land a QB. Without a QB threat he may never be a top 10 back again with teams loading the box on him.
Even with all the struggles this year, Johnson is still RB#10 in standard ppr performance scoring. Just 12 pts. behind Charles who is #5. Dont think he slips out of the first round next year. Lets see what he does in the fantasy playoffs. Earlier in the year people were writing off MJD also.

I think the situation that CJ has found himself in right now in Nashville is significantly worse than anyone could have forseen coming into this season. Unbelievable how badly this team has laid down over the last month. :hot:
This. There are a lot people patting themselves on the back about this, but the fact is that virtually everyone predicited that CJ wouldn't come close to repeating last year. It's just that even 70% of his 2009 production was enough to project him #1. It looked like his situation was the best and most stable of the first round RBs. That analysis was wrong, so cue all of the people that show up in these threads to tell you how brilliant they are since no one is keeping track of all the other predictions they were dead wrong on.
Turner is 4 points behind Johnson in standard scoring, MJD is about 13 up, AD is about 50 up. What I never understood is why so many people turned their backs on Adrian Peterson? Was he or wasn't he THE ABSOLUTE #1 pick in 99.9999999999% of all drafts in 2009? Then he fumbles a bit in the playoffs and people jump onto the Chris Johnson bandwagon like mad.

The reality is that Johnson's 2009 season is much like Brady's 2007 or Peyton's 2004. Anomalies. You take a very talented person and put him into a situation where all the stars align, and he explodes.

There were people arguing in this thread and others that Johnson was just as talented as guys like OJ and Barry Sanders and that he was still going to outperform everybody. As it stands, he's at the same level as Rashard Mendenhall in standard and Matt Forte in PPR, behind a decidedly better offensive line. You want to see a laughable offensive line? Look at the Steelers. Patchwork bunch of gimps. 3rd string LT, 3rd string RT, 3rd string RG, rookie OC, no fullback. Look at the Bears. Pitiful.

The issue I had all along was the massive criticism and derision I received because I didn't "go with the flow".
