WIll Farrell to mock Reagans Dementia (1 Viewer)

Wonder how many of the people who throw a hissy fit about mocking the disease of a public figure who died over a decade ago in a parody are going to then turn around and vote for a man who mocked the disease of a reporter who is still alive in a stump speech.
Who did this? Trump, I assume, but I'm just curious what the ####### did now.

Isn't one of the big talking points for the right how the left are a bunch of sniveling ninnies and too easily offended ?

I'm not attributing this specifically to Pack or anyone else in this thread -- but speaking generically --  the situational ethics and sometimes outrage that boils down to being a honk for one of the political parties is really ####### petty.   The older I get, that trait is quickly becoming a disqualifier for people I want to see, hang out with, or hear from.
OBAMA IS A COMMUNIST MUSLIM TERRORIST!

Wait..what did you say about Reagan?  HOW. DARE. YOU.

 If you were a chick and I ran into you I'd give you a kiss for writing this post.  but only if you were a knockout 8+ on the Offdee

Solid assumption.

Trump mocks disabled reporter

Was several months ago.
Given Johnson's weird bravado over the past few months, and the LP platform, I may sit this one out and not feel bad about it.  Unless I can write in under Cali Law.

eta* BTW, good morning, Tobias. Nice to hear from you. Too bad you're more of an NBA fan than an NHL fan. Would be cool to hear some not-so-hot takes, though that thread is good.

Whenever someone complains about college students and their "safe spaces," I'm just going to link to this thread. A grown ### man is butt hurt about this?

I'm a 43 year old loser and if I became trannygendered I'd probably be an Offdee 2 on my best day.

But c'mere, let's smooch anyway.

Farrell did a nice job in The Campaign.  A solid comedy if not a great one.  Partisan, rude-sometimes, but well handled and funny.  I imagine this will be as well.  He may tweak a few noses, but he is not one to try to break any noses completely out of joint.

It is very obvious the rules of Political Correctness only protect the "Beautiful People" and there are now two sets of rules in this country...doing a documentary or investigative report is one thing and well within reason...mocking someone with a disease is totally different...and totally expected from an entertainment industry that long ago chose a side they support...anyone who thinks this movie gets made if Reagan was a D instead of an R also believes Lizzie Warren is an actual Native-American...that should be his next movie...oh wait,  C. Thomas Howell pretty much already did it...

I don't get offended by much and I'm not offended by this - I love SNL presidential parodies and the like.  However, this idea does seem a little off-color to me.  If the idea is to have a comedy about a fictional character who has dementia and the humorous things that happen to this person then no problem and likewise if it was meant as a serious movie that tells Reagan's story and had humorous anecdotes related to his dementia I would have no problem.  But to me the idea that you would make a movie and center the comedy on a real person having dementia seems wrong to me - and that is assuming that really is what this is.  And I'd feel that way no matter who the person was/is.  Just my 2 cents.

Something about dementia needs to be in a professional comedian's hands. I know Ferrell is strong comedian, and genius and funny; I hope that is enough to make it humorous.

Too bad.  I was looking forward to more panty wadding.
This sounds like a job for Ricky Gervais. (Well, not the panty wadding he attempted in the '80s, but the sacred cow that is now.)

Still, dementia better be done right, or the comedian looks like an insensitive ###.

Similar advice given in Tropic Thunder.

:goodposting: I'm not sure there's a good way to portray dementia/Alzheimers for comedic effect. It just seems like mocking the special needs kid. It's not being PC; it's called being a decent human being.

Ferrell running away from this thing so fast blows my theory.  I thought that the movie he was doing was going to be people's reaction to his doing the movie (meanwhile the Reagan movie would never be made).  The gag would be people getting hysterical over a non-movie.  Seemed "Kaufman-esque" enough to fit Ferrell's personality.

Hilarity ensues as Ben Stiller stars as JFK in this slapstick romp produced and directed by the Farrelly brothers.  Watch Kennedy’s hyper-secret battle with Addison’s disease result in uproarious scenes of embarrassment and humiliation for the handsome young chief executive.  Favorite scenes include the gross-out spectacle of a vicious diarrhea attack while Marilyn Monroe (played by Scarlett Johanson) sings “Happy Birthday, Mr. President” and the spectacle of Kennedy’s 1961 meeting with Khrushchev (smartly caricatured by John Goodman) in which the president’s cocktail of medications leaves him nearly unable to speak.
Someone should have taken the piss out of Camelot a long time ago.
