It would be hard to be worse than Griese was over his last 2 starts. If Garcia sucks it up, but he looked good against a tough Panthers D.
I somewhat agree. Griese is a better passer, but Garcia is better at making plays with his feet. Neither of the guys are elite QBs, and it's kind of a coin toss imo. Garcia is probably better against teams with a better pass rush, but rise is more lkely to pick apart a D if he has time. The good news is that we have 2 capable guys, and you often need more than that in this league. The Bucs NEED Griese. I am a huge Garcia fan, but after watching many, many times his inability to get the ball down the field when necessary, Griese is the Bucs' only legitimate shot at going deep into the playoffs. The Bucs play a style of football that sees them in some tight games on a semi-regular basis. They need a QB that can lead them down the field on a 2-min drill. Garcia just can't do that, despite being a gritty, good QB in many other respects.
I don't agree with the bolded statement at all. The way Tampa's defense is playing the guy behind center needs to be able to manage a game. To me, that's Garcia. The game he played on Sunday is exactly what the Bucs need to consistently win games.Brian Griese was giving the opponent points with turnovers. That's unacceptable when the opposing team's offense can't score.I somewhat agree. Griese is a better passer, but Garcia is better at making plays with his feet. Just been charged with assault. Not likely anyone is going to go after him.I don't agree with the bolded statement at all. Tampa's offensive line looks strong and they ran the ball well on Sunday. Add that to the defense and Garcia's ability to manage the game and you saw the scoreboard.
I would really like to see Tampa go hard after a player like Larry Johnson. They have the capspace to take on his contract, and with the way the offensive line is playing he could excel in Tampa. What do they want for him? Two firsts? Larry would make the Bucs a very serious contender in the NFC if they aren't already.
Well, I hadn't seen that yet. He'd fit in nice in Tampa with Jerramy Stevens and Antonio Bryant and now he'd be cheaper. Sounds win/win to me.Just been charged with assault. True. and before that gets carried too far, he's just been charged for simple assault. Sounds pretty silly. He supposedly pushed a girls head. Happened back in Feb. and they just now brought charges.Well, I hadn't seen that yet. He'd fit in nice in Tampa with Jerramy Stevens and Antonio Bryant and now he'd be cheaper. Unlike the game Sunday, Griese never really had too many opportunities to manage games. IIRC, we were playing from behind in a few, which doesn't allow for that conservative of play. We had such a dominant performance on Sunday that they didn't have to break the game plan, or call any audibles.I really don't get the LJ to Tampa talk either. Somebody mentioned that in another thread, and I really don't see why we would add an expensive RB when we have 2 capable guys right now. Did you see Dunn the other day? What about Graham in the first few games? You really think they have been that bad to warrant a drastic upgrade? Besides, he wouldn't be able to pick up JGs O for a while anyways. Sure he would be able to run, but he probably wouldn't be able to learn the terminology quick enough to be effective when he needs to block.I don't agree with the bolded statement at all. The defense is great and the running game is good. However, I've seen too many games where we've needed Garcia to actually throw the ball downfield where we lost because he couldn't do it to believe that all he needs to be able to do is manage the game. There will be situations where we will need to be able to throw the ball downfield. Maybe not every game, but whenever we hit those situations I don't like my chances with Garcia under center.I don't agree with the bolded statement at all. Griese just about gave away the game against GB (15-30 for 149 yards 1 TD and 3 INT's). The defense was pretty dominant in that game as well. Part of the reason we had to come from behind against the Bears was a direct result of Griese's 3 interceptions. It's difficult to come out and manage a game when you dig your team a hole by turning the ball over. The reason I brought up LJ is not because I think Warrick or Earnest are playing poorly or because he's on my fantasy team. It's just the opposite really. Think about how well we're running the ball with those two guys and then think about how well we could be running the ball with a gamebreaker in the backfield. That's the point. He ran for 198 and 2 TD's against a team (Denver) that just got done shutting our offense down. LJ makes this team much more explosive on offense, but I doubt it happens anyway.Unlike the game Sunday, Griese never really had too many opportunities to manage games. Not to mention it's still too early to write off Bennet / Caddy.
If the Bucs made a trade it would be for a WR, or a passing threat like Tony G.
I think the people suggesting LJ to TB are guys that own him in fantasy football.
I forgot about GB I think my preference on QB changes weekly. It's usually whomever isn't starting that I think is the better option. lolGriese just about gave away the game against GB (15-30 for 149 yards 1 TD and 3 INT's). I don't think Caddy is really a factor, but I hope I'm wrong.
