Here's what I wrote in another thread regarding Harrison V. Gonzales from a dynasty perspective:

This is the first major injury whatsoever that Harrison has had in his entire career. Anyone who has followed him knows that he has never taken a big hit. I often describe him as the "anti-Ed Mac" due to his ability to avoid big hits. With the modern technology and training that these guys have, I see no reason why he cannot bounce back from this injury. He has shown no signs of wanting to retire that I have heard about, and his team is still highly competitive. I picture him in the mold of Jerry Rice, as I have always heard of him being very regimented in his training and focus on football. I see Isaac Bruce in a similar light. These are veterans that know what to do and how to do it to succeed in the NFL, and I have not seen a significant enough drop-off in their skill-sets to drop them off my radar. The stricter rules on DBs will also help WR career longevity. So, as of now I would take Harrison over Gonzales.

On the other hand I could be wrong about my assumption that Harrison still has the desire to play, and he could up and retire tomorrow-a la Jimmy Smith-but that is a risk I am willing to take for a guy who could very well play a large part in winning championships for years to come.

:lmao:IMHO he is coming back for at least one more season; I just can't see a player with Harrison's credentials retire on such a sour note. There's a better chance of him giving it one more shot, and going out next year with Dungy. But personally, i think he's the type of player to have a loooong career.

He stands a chance of catching some of Rice's records and going down in history as one of the best, say, top 3 statistical WRs of all-time. No way he leaves this year (or next, or the one after that). Hes fully capable of playing until his late 30s barring severe injury.

eh there was a similair thread about hines ward this season when he was injured early in the year

then he came back and caught 60 balls for 600 yards and 6 tds over the last 10 games of the season

harrison will be back

I couldn't bring myself to vote either way at this point. I don't wanna think he'll retire, but I don't think we know everything there is to know about his knee either. I've seen alot of parallels between him and Terry Glenn this season, though I'm not sure if you can medically compare their injuries. We just don't know at this point.

What we do know is that they both missed significant time and tried like hell to get back on the field by the end of the season, but had very little if any success. Harrison's one of my favorite players in the whole league and would love to see him get back to 100% and get some of those records he's so close to. I don't think the Colts have been completely candor about the extent of his injury for whatever reason. I'm waiting to see if he's going to need some kind of surgical procedure this offseason and go from there.

Again, like Terry Glenn, I don't think he "wants" to retire. It all comes down to the condition of his knee and if it will enable him to continue.

I think He will. No reason for Him to keep playing. So yes He retires soon.
What constitutes no reason to keep playing?
Not sure?1. Won Super Bowl.2. Lock for HOF.3. Enough money to not have too.4. First injury, why get hurt again.Other than that, yep He's coming back. :hot:
Maybe he enjoys his profession?Maybe he wants more money, more rings more reason to prove he should be in HOF and possibly wants to prove that one injury can't kill him.He has lots to play for.

According to that logic, Jerry Rice should have retired in 1997 at the latest.
He didn't. :lmao: How many other WR, are has good has Rice, besides Moss.I'll give you some time.

Now 312, last year 10 or so. Whats your point? He's done.

Jerry Rice was a complete anomaly. When speculating how long a player can play at an effective level his name shouldn't even be brought up since he was one in a billion as far as longevity and worked 100x's as hard as Harrison (and pretty much any other player) in the off season.

How many WR's (besides Rice) have played at a high level into their late 30's? There has been some who had one big year or so but i can't remember any being consistently good from 36-40.

Also it was reported Harrison was thinking of retiring last offseason but Dungy talking him into returning for another run at a Superbowl.

I'd put it at about 50/50 whether he plays this coming season, and at about 10% he plays beyond 08'.

You have a weak argument. Your entire basis is that he will retire because he has no reason to play any longer. For which you supply no valid premises. My argument is that he will continue to play because: -This is the first time he has ever had a substantial injury.-His team is still highly competetive and could win the Super Bowl.-There is no reason he has personally given, that I have heard of, that he will retire any time soon.-He is very regimented in his training and work ethic toward football.-The stricter rules on DBs will allow WR to have longer careers.I'll stick with my argument.

So your going to play the odds, and say Harrison won't retire.Whats are you laying? 7-1,2-1?Name your price. I'll than tell you why He will. But I want the money, I mean the bet first.

Harrison is going to be 36 years old, he's done it all like a previous poster said. The question is how long does he wanna play, I really dont think he has the passion for the game like Rice. Its hard to tell alot of times if Harrison is enjoying himself or not, with Rice it was obviously he had a love for the game.

So your saying, He may retire because He doesn't like to play the game has much as Rice. You could be correct.
