Will Smith (1 Viewer)

Doesn't Smith line up at RDE most of the time? He looked good in the preseason ... (3 sacks in the 4 games of limited action)

Also ... How has Ugoh looked/done in the preseason?

You've highlighted my favorite "huh" matchup of the week. Smith looked ridiculously good this preseason. Ugoh horribly bad. Conventional wisdom is that Manning gets rid of the ball too quickly to give up many sacks -- the Colts allowed only 15 all last season -- but this would be one of the rare times that I'd run a DE out there against the Colts.

Thanks JeanYup ... under normal cicumstances I would prolly sit him, but this matchup is too intriguing.

Hey Jean did Smith have a sack on Carson called back by a penalty?

Ugoh was shaky at times against the Lions in preseason.
Thanks AB ... I'm too sorry to look thru Gamebook ... Do you know if Manning was sacked in the preseason?
The Lions sacked him on the first play, so at least 1 sack.

Thanks AB ...

Did they beat Ugoh for the sack?

I went back and looked at Gamebook and Manning was sacked twice (Detroit & Chicago)

i'm benching Will Smith vs Manning.

I have DL Schobel starting, so i can use Smith's spot with a DB, in this case, Whitner.

Manning doesn't give up any sacks, so i don't want to play the turnover card.

Benching Will Smith tonight.

Starting DLman agains the Colts seems like a bad percentage play (unless your options are real slim).

That is a bit of an overstatement. I'm in a 16 team start 3 DL league, and Smith is a solid start. All depends upon the perch one sits on when viewing the terrain.

Glad you guys ended up on the right side of this one. Four hurries and an induced holding call won't get you anywhere in the boxscore. I still think this is a matchup to watch, though, but maybe more so with the speed rushers.

I agree ... Manning was the factor. It was a good matchup. And I think your absolutley right with the speed rusher.I have to give credit for my decision to the IDP Matchup Alalyzer  I had Jamaal Anderon as another option and when I seen what Kearney did last year vs the Vikings, I made the switch. Without the IDPMA, I most likely would have started Smith.

Easy to say in hindsight and it may end up as a wash, but I've been pumping Anderson's matchup in the AC forum all week too. I'd have made the same call probably.

Unfortunately, my other choice was Brett Keisel, and I let the IDP forecasts talk me out of it and start Will Smith. My fault entirely. I've been playing this game too long to let one forecast talk me out of something where every other sign pointed to Keisel. On the other hand, my 22nd round draft pick (Bob Sanders) did quite well!
