Pretty straightforward.

Initially, he wasn't taken seriously.  Now the thought that he could end up POTUS is getting people up in arms.  Would we get a record voter turnout to prevent that from happening?

Not if Hillary is the dem nominee.

Clinton-v-Trump would be a bloody, awful, terrible, awesome spectacle in this day an age.  Twitter may explode, facebook may crash, riots may break out, cats living with dogs, etc.  Definitely popcorn and beer worthy.  To answer the question, Yes!

Perhaps.

Hillary is not going to make the left overly anxious to get out and vote but Trump very well could end up scaring them to get to the polls. Assuming a decent conservative runs as third party/independent- it will certainly get the Republicans/conservatives to come out in record numbers to either vote for or against Trump. If that happens- yes.

If no one decent comes along on the right to challenge and Hillary has a comfortable lead (I suspect she will) then it very well could end up being one of the lowest turn outs we have seen.

I think a lot of people (mainly Republicans) disgusted with the candidates stay home.  And the record is pretty high (over 80%) -- stakes still wouldn't be what they were in 1860, for example.

Sounds like a lot of these Trump supporters haven't voted regularly in quite some time. We're seeing the signs in the R primaries.

There might be a record number voting to put him in...don't be so cocky you think Trump is getting waxed in the Finals by double digits.

Trump barely wins the popular vote vs. hillary but the supreme court gives the dems a make up call for 2000 Bush

Actually it's probably the opposite.

Conservatives who can't bring themselves to vote for a clown for President will stay home.

You don't break records with people voting against someone.  Neither Trump nor Hillary are all that well liked.

Except the fear, loathing, contempt that each candidates constituents has for one another is strong enough to get out the vote even if out of spite and anger.  It's going to be the Thrilla-in-Manilla back yard brawl of Presidential elections.  It's gonna be YUUGE!

It doesn't work like that.  Voting numbers don't vary much, with the exception of very popular candidates.

I wasn't expecting much enthusiasm to vote for Hillary and there still isn't, but people will be terrified at the thought of President Trump that they will vote regardless of their feeling about Hillary.

Romney, McCain, Kerry, Gore, Dole, Bush the 1st, Mondale, etc., none were reviled as individuals even if they were disliked for political policy stances.  Heck, even Dubya wasn't hated as a man just thought of as a rube/boob with hired henchman who Were hated.

This works both ways.

(Said this in another thread)...I have never seen such a turn-out in my town like I saw yesterday...reminded me of the Scott Brown/Coakley first election where Brown pulled off one of the bigger upsets in Massachusetts history...I think you will see a record turn-out...I see a lot of people saying there will be a large anti-Trump vote and I don't doubt that...what they maybe forgetting is Hillary will bring out her fair share of haters as well...on the GOP side I think some people just are not grasping how deep the anti-establishment sentiment is...there is pure disdain for the establishment and everything they seem to do recently only makes that feeling stronger...this is an election unlike any I have ever seen...

I've comefull circle since beingable to vote.  Started dem went to GOP then the Libertarians and now back to Dem because of Bernie.  If Bernie is not on the ballot I will cast my vote to best keep HRC out of the OO.

This election has so many angles...the larger than life personalities of Trump and Hillary, the youth enthusiasm for Sanders, the GOP establishment treating Rubio like he's the only girl in the bar after midnight and a pit-bull like Cruz who will take off the gloves...the old-school of thinking is not gonna apply to this election...

I will vote ahead of time on our mail in ballot.  The day of the actual election I will be holding a wake for America. Neither Trump nor Clinton will get my vote.
