Report: Fast Willie Parker has torn labrum

NFL.com's Adam Schefter reports that Willie Parker has a torn labrum in his shoulder and will likely need offseason surgery to fix it.

Parker's injury could also be more than just a one-week deal, although indications out of Pittsburgh are that Fast Willie is likely to return in Week 11. Still, Parker owners need to hang tight onto Mewelde Moore. Also, Parker's tendency to get injured could hurt his chances of being the Steelers' long-term feature back, especially with Rashard Mendenhall due back in 2009. Nov. 9 - 11:11 am et

Yes.

The labrum is a ring of soft fibrous tissue that surrounds the glenoid (the end of the shoulder blade) and helps stabilize the shoulder joint. Ligaments and tendons can attach to the labrum and when the labrum is torn, the shoulder becomes painful. A torn piece of labrum in the shoulder will cause much pain.
