Willie Parker vs Phi (1 Viewer)

I won't post my options so that this doesn't turn into a WDIS thread. But would everyone consider FWP a bad start against Phi? Barber went for 100+total and 2 TDs against them, and the Pit offense can obviously get it done as well. Of course, this is IN philly, which makes a difference, and most sites have him ranked with a below average day.

So, assuming you have an option on your bench that's not a total reach, do you recommend sitting Parker this week after two straight 100 yard games?

I was high on FWP before the season started, and I thought he had top 10 potential then. I'm now thinking top 6 or 7. That said, i typically subscribe to the "never bench your studs" theory. FWP is playing like a stud and he's healthy, both of which seem to be a rarity anymore in today's NFL. So all this to say that I'm starting him with confidence in week 3 despite the solid Philly D.

I think pitt's OLine is better than last year and obviously FWP is the goalline back once again. :lmao:

He has 3 straight difficult matchups before their week 6 bye. Hard to sit him though.. Not very many more consistent options in the league right now.

If it helps, Im benching him this week for ADP, Turner, and CJ3.. but i still expect him to put up 80 total yards with a coin flip on a score.

Philly in #1 in the NFL right now for rushing yards allowed. Unless Ben throws his way, I dont think his chances for a good game are very high.

The Eagles are pretty good against the run. Just last season they were ranked in the top 10 in rushing yards and in yards per rush. Those D-Tackles Mike Patterson and Broderick Bunkley are no joke. Patterson had over 100 tackles last year.

Unless you have other studs to replace him you can't bench Willie Parker but it's tough to expect him to have a great game against the Eagles. You never know. He could still rush for over 100 yards and get a TD or two. He's obviously worth the risk.

The Steelers saw last week the Eagles offense is pretty potent and the best way to keep them off the field is to run the ball. Parker is the undisputed starter on a team that has not been RBBC this season so he is going to get a lot of carries.

Of course it remains to be sen if he'll be effective but it won't be from lack of touches. Unless your lineup is very strong at RB I don't see how you can bench him.

Willie is playing great right now , and unless you have a better option with a great matchup , I go with FWP.

I think the Steelers play the Eagles in a great spot to beat them , short week coming off a tough lose against a division rival.... Eagles might be a little victim of the MNF loser hangover.

If the Steelers are to win .. which I think is very likely, Parker will grind out the yards and score.

The million dollar question is what Eagle team we are going to see. It will be a big effort for them to come back and play with the same intensity as they did vs. the Cowboys on a short week. But, if they do, I think they will maul Willie early and often. They were puttin' the pain to Barber for most of the game until the 4th quarter, in which Marion's sheer will took over (very impressed by that). They will have to mix it up well vs. the Eagles D, but I think it will be more through the air then on the ground this week.

He hasn't been part of the passing attack at all this year, and that's how Barber got a lot of his yards. They did a good job of stuffing Barber in the 1st half, and he eventually wore them down, but FWP isn't really a wear you down kinda back. He has 0 catches this year, and that's what has me a bit concerned about the start this week, along with most sites projecting a low score for him.

:football: I think this is spot on. what I said above still holds true, but would expect Pitt to try to pass as much as possible. It's how will FWP do with the carries he gets. If the passing game is clicking, it wouldn't surprise me if he's prette effective, even against a solid D.

The fact that they played the Rams and won by 50 has that skewed a bit. They aren't that good against the run.
I disagree. They have solid DT's at stopping the run and the rest of the team is built around speed and pusuit to the ball. Yes, the Ram game is an over statement and with the small sample size it's hard to guess at yards they are likely to give up. However, this group is good against the run....imo.

I must admit I didn't think it was a good matchup with Philly but I thought he may crack 40- 50 yards. I have watched the Eagles for some time now and I must admit that this is the best run D I have seen from them in a long time. They didn't exactly shut Marion Barber down but they made it very tough to run with what has to be one of the top offensive lines in the league so that says something.

Also contributing was that the PIT O-Line looked like they did last year. The Eagles D-Line just dominated them, and they had no answer for the constant blitzes. Playcalling was questionable also -- lots of passes even though the passing game wasn't working.

Bal, @ Jax coming up. I wonder how hurt Ben is.

Hard to argue with the number of carries Willie gets in the offense, but I am just not excited about his upside. No catches...like ever.
