Was a decent 4/5 starter for me last year. His numbers after the AS game last year were good and he finished with a 2.something ERA in September. I think he'll be very respectable over 200 innings again this year.

i found that hardcore Rangers fan hate Uehara. i don't get it. he should have been on the post-season roster. would have been nice to see him pitching in the late innings of game 6.plus, i bet Texas still trades him.

case in point... this is a blog post by local media from yesterday, talking about Uehara no longer being on the trade market:
Uehara pitched 18 regular season innings for Texas. He had a WHIP of 0.78, with 23 strikeouts and only 1 walk. Yes, he gave up 5 homers, a rate more than double his career average.In the post-season, he had 3 appearances, with a total of 35 pitches. Yes, he gave up a HR in each of those 3 appearances, but talk about small sample sizes.

Hopefully, he does great though. I don't know the kid that well, but we need someone to actually produce down there for more than a month at a time. We have guys flame out constantly out there. A lot of those flame outs were trade acquisitions or big prospects that were highly regarded when we got them. It probably means nothing, but middle relief has been a wasteland for 2 decades despite a constant focus in that area by the GMs.
ETA: Thanks for making me relive horrific memories of Rael Cormier, Mike Lincoln, Ryan Wagner, Gary Majewski, Eddie Guardado, and many more being brought in to save our bullpen problems.
