WIS MMXIII Back to the Future 3 - MLB107075 (3 Viewers)

At this rate, I'll have plenty of pitching to deal and gaping holes at 3B/SS, C, and possibly CF. 3B/SS is dependent on how courageous I'm feeling when it comes to Scutaro since he's only played 2B, but that's Kipnis territory.

So is the roster transaction deadline we have during the sim an optional thing or is it something that is standard with these leagues? Because I'm gunna have a crapload of partial seasons.

I probably have enough pitching to easily fill 8 starting rotation spots AND still have a full bullpen.

If you're going to need SP and you have lineup help, I'm your huckleberry.

The deadline to swap players between active rosters and AAA is fixed. You need to play your PAs & IPs accordingly.

I thought there was a way to set it to game 159. Whether we want to or not is a different question.

FIller

Mitchell Boggs crapped the bed. Freddy Garcia and Rich Hill can eat some innings.

I have 4 starters but will need to pick up a 5th.

My pen has 4 good arms.

Offense should be ok, nothing special.

I am short on PA's at catcher.

Have plenty of extra PA's in the OF to trade and also at 1B.

Could move Nick Franklin also if someone needs a MI.

somehow i have catching to spare......

i can likely deal either jason castro or carlos santana; however, i am gonna need 3 guys back to field a team. will answer yours.

:hot:

Breaking down my draft from the end of round 1 turn position:

1 . 24 [ 24 ] Arsenal. . . .. SP Cliff Lee
2 . 1 [ 25 ] Arsenal. . . .. SP Zack Greinke

Can't really complain here. Lee has been his usual innings eating self and if not for Carlos Quentin costing him some innings Greinke would be right there with him in the race to front the rotation.

3 . 24 [ 72 ] Arsenal. . . .. 3B Pablo Sandoval
4 . 1 [ 73 ] Arsenal. . . .. SP Tim Lincecum

Fat Panda has actually been reasonably healthy but underperforming most of the year. Has been on fire of late so he seems likely to be at least average at 3B, but not what I was hoping for. Lincecum has pretty good secondary numbers but is more in the 4/5 starter mix.

5 . 24 [ 120 ] Arsenal. . . .. OF Dexter Fowler
6 . 1 [ 121 ] Arsenal. . . .. SP CJ Wilson

Fowler continues to be a huge tease. Has done okay abut has sub par defensive metrics for a CF and while he above league average with the bat doesn't stand out in any area but OBP. Doesn't have enough ABs to be a regular lead off hitter so I'll have to rotate him around. Wilson is a strong #3.

7 . 24 [ 168 ] Arsenal. . . .. C Brian McCann
8 . 1 [ 169 ] Arsenal. . . .. 1B Brandon Belt

Really solid turn here. Aside from the month lost at the beginning of the season McCann has middle of the order numbers. Belt is quietly putting together a very strong season, aside from lower HR totals than ideal.

9 . 24 [ 216 ] Arsenal. . . .. SS Stephen Drew
10 . 1 [ 217 ] Arsenal. . . .. OF Denard Span

Not bad here. .774 OPS at SS is nice for Drew and he'll be pretty close to average defensively. after a very slow start Span is actually getting close to the point were I'd feel okay with him leading off - 333 OBP and climbing. Also should be an A/A+ or better fielder.

11 . 24 [ 264 ] Arsenal. . . .. OF Matt Joyce
12 . 1 [ 265 ] Arsenal. . . .. SP Ubaldo Jimenez

Another turn I feel pretty good about. Missing out on Michael Cuddyer by 2 picks is the main thing that hurts here. Ubaldo will be comfortably in the 4/5, LR mix.

13 . 24 [ 312 ] Arsenal. . . .. RP Greg Holland
14 . 1 [ 313 ] Arsenal. . . .. RP David Robertson

Will combine for around 120 innings of sub 1 WHIP, sub 2 ERA. Great Closer/Set-up Combo

15 . 24 [ 360 ] Arsenal. . . .. RP Jonny Venters
16 . 1 [ 361 ] Arsenal. . . .. OF Nolan Reimold

Totally wasted turn. First two bad picks back to back.

17 . 24 [ 408 ] Arsenal. . . .. UTIL Chris Nelson
18 . 1 [ 409 ] Arsenal. . . .. SP Gerrit Cole

Nelson makes it 3 straight wasted picks, but Cole is going to end up providing 100+ strong innings for LR or Spot Starts if needed.

19 . 24 [ 456 ] Arsenal. . . .. SS Rafael Furcal
20 . 1 [ 457 ] Arsenal. . . .. RP Rex Brothers

Furcal went down for good with elbow shortly after this. Brothers will be a solid LH relief option, though his secondary numbers not as good as his ERA suggests.

21 . 24 [ 504 ] Arsenal. . . .. SP Drew Pomeranz
22 . 1 [ 505 ] Arsenal. . . .. UTIL Steve Lombardozzi

Meh. Pomeranz bombed completely out. Lombardozzi has some value as a bad utility guy.

23 . 24 [ 552 ] Arsenal. . . .. OF Vernon Wells
24 . 1 [ 553 ] Arsenal. . . .. UTIL DJ LeMahieu

Wells will probably be my roster for occasional outfield mop-up duty and pinch hitting. LeMahieu will get most of the work at 2B with his empty BA and decent SB numbers.

25 . 24 [ 600 ] Arsenal. . . .. C Gerald Laird
26 . 1 [ 601 ] Arsenal. . . .. RP Brandon Lyon

Laird has pretty decent back-up catcher numbers, Lyon will probably be on the roster as a RH Specialist.

27 . 24 [ 648 ] Arsenal. . . .. 1B Matt Adams
28 . 1 [ 649 ] Arsenal. . . .. RP Tim Collins

Adams cooled off after a really great start but still has decent power numbers for a back 1B and LHPH.

29 . 24 [ 696 ] Arsenal. . . .. RP Brian Duensing
30 . 1 [ 697 ] Arsenal. . . .. 2B Brock Bond

Duensing is a decent middle innings RP, Bond was a wasted pick.

31 . 24 [ 744 ] Arsenal. . . .. P Chris Volstad
32 . 1 [ 745 ] Arsenal. . . .. C Evan Gattis

Volstad was a wasted pick, Gattis will get a lot ABs against LHP in both the OF and C.

33 . 24 [ 792 ] Arsenal. . . .. C Matt Pagnozzi
34 . 1 [ 793 ] Arsenal. . . .. OF Eric Hinske

Yuck.

35 . 24 [ 840 ] Arsenal. . . .. SS Jose Iglesias
36 . 1 [ 841 ] Arsenal. . . .. C Christian Bethancourt

Iglesias will be a nice back up SS and 3B as he'll ride out his ridiculous high BABIP number from the early season to a decent AVG/OBP finish.

37 . 24 [ 888 ] Arsenal. . . .. OF Bobby Abreu
38 . 1 [ 889 ] Arsenal. . . .. P Felipe Paulino

Double yuck.

39 . 24 [ 936 ] Arsenal. . . .. SS Jason Bartlett
40 . 1 [ 937 ] Arsenal. . . .. P Danny Rosenbaum

Ugh.

41 . 24 [ 984 ] Arsenal. . . .. C Yotvit Torrealba
42 . 1 [ 985 ] Arsenal. . . .. util Matt McBride

You see the trend.

43 . 24 [ 1032 ] Arsenal. . . .. P Christian Friedrich
44 . 1 [ 1033 ] Arsenal. . . .. OF Kyle Parker

Yeah. Nothing to see here.

45 . 24 [ 1080 ] Arsenal. . . .. P Edwar Cabrera

And mercifully it ends.

We sure did draft a lot of injured guys. Lilly, Scott Baker, Mike Olt never made it to the bigs, Burnett, etc. Gonna need a CF of some sort and some more innigs although I guess Arietta/Harang would be a 5th starter in a pinch.

Brayan Pena could be a trade chip for someone needing a good catcher. 63 games of 311/330/415. Could trade that for similar OF at bats if someone is interested.

My 45th rounder Hector Ambriz finally got DFAed yesterday by the worst team in baseball but he'll provide 36 1/3 innings of worthless mop-up.

I'm gunna have lots of mediocre SP innings and 1B PA's able to trade.

I'm gunna need IF PA's for sure, and possibly OF, C, and RP help as well. I have so many 1/2 or 2/3 seasons from my guys.

Looks like I have Victor Martinez and his full year at 1B available. As well as 1 relievers from the really nice crowd of Matusz (3.04 DICE), Breslow (3.69), Janssen (2.96), K Rod (3.55), Tazawa crowd. Or 2 lesser relievers available in Wright and Valdes.

I need a Catcher, a # 4 starter, and some maybe 300 middle infield innings.

I have two 1B/OF types in Brandon Moss and Mark Trumbo. Of the two, I'd rather deal Trumbo, but I'd be open to either if I can fill a position of need. I'm counting on the one I keep being a COF.

TRADE

Brady Marino sends:

1B/OF Mark Trumbo

boubucarow sends:

SS Brandon Crawford

A 7th rounder for a 15th rounder. Way to go, Brady. :selfpatontheback:

My team is fairly set unless someone wants a Eric Young, Paul Konerko, Travis Hafner, Fernando Salas, Brad Brach, or Jason Marquis. I wouldn't be looking for anything other than a good pitch hitter.

LINEUP :X

3B Luis Valbuena/Alberto Callaspo - 242/335/376 (combined with a estimated split of PA's)

LF Leonys Martin/Josh Willingham - 247/329/383

RF Giancarlo Stanton/Willingham - 235/359/443

1B Mark Trumbo - 244/299/471

CF Alejandro De Aza - 263/320/405

SS Andrelton Simmons - 248/294/385

C Miguel Montero/Tyler Flowers - 222/294/351

2B Darwin Barney/Alberto Callaspo - 220/280/324

My infield defense should be solid with Simmons and Barney an above average combo flanked by average corners. The outfield defense is shaky with a borderline CF and an error prone group. My catchers are solid.

My staff has 1513 innings when adding the 10% boost with the following staff numbers.

3.39 era

3.39 dice

1.21 whip

8.36 k/9

3.02 bb/9

0.77 hr/9

Not bad but it won't matter much. At least I have a 24 man roster that fulfills all my PA and IP needs.

Lineup (vs righty/lefty if noted):

1. CF Angel Pagan (.278/.331/.392)/Craig Gentry (.254/.355/.363, 14 SB, #### WIS if they think Gentry sucks at CF)

2. 2B Jason Kipnis (.280/.364/.458, 26 SB...may actually lead off, but more ideal #2, IMO.)

3. 1B Paul Goldschmidt (.291/.395/.530. I  him)

4. RF 2/3rds of Bryce Harper (.273/.377/.504)/Shane Robinson (.274/.388/.363 probably not batting 4th, though)

5. 3B Marco Scutaro (.297/.354/.368)

6. LF Brandon Moss (.251/.333/.496)/TBD (Moss should get me most of a season, though)

7. SS Brandon Crawford (.258/.317/.380)

8. C Kurt Suzuki/Ryan Lavarnway/Kelly Shoppach (Lavarnway is the only good one, but he'll only get me about 90 AB :( )

Notes: Platoons may very, but the lineup against righties is correct. Catchers are terrible and injuries to Pagan and Harper suck, otherwise I'd be fairly content with this lineup in spite of blights at C and SS (at least Crawford is full season and can field).

Bench:

2B/SS Ronny Cedeno

Two OF platoons

C?/1B/3B Jordan Pacheco

INF Justin Turner

OF Jason Bay :bag:

Notes: Uninspiring crap (although Turner's not terrible and Cedeno is semi-functional). Pacheco gaining a D rating at C could help, but it'll probably be poo.

Rotation:

1. Julio Teheran (surprise)

2. Homer Bailey

3. Gio Gonzalez

4. R.A. Dickey

5. Ryan Dempster

Also have: Joe Kelly, Charlie Morton, David Phelps, and Jennry Mejia in partial quantities.

Notes: Gio falling off turned my rotation good to meh. I'd love to trade Dempster or Dickey for catching and maybe OF help. I can cobble enough from Kelly, Morton, and Mejia to get a good 5th starter and maybe even two starters if you include Bruce Chen.

Bullpen:

Closer: RHP Santiago Casilla/Huston Street (combined make a pretty beastly fullseason closer)

LOOGYs: LHP Randy Choate, Bruce Chen

Others: RHPs Seth Maness, Adam Ottavino, Cory Gearrin

Notes: Eric O'Flaherty coming up just short on IP hurts as he was doing well. Bullpen should be decent and I can fill with my spot starter types.

Trade block: Ryan Dempster (or R.A. Dickey, but rather deal Dempster) for catcher and maybe a partial OF.

Where is Koji's 2013 season going to line up with some of the all-time great WIS seasons?
His Walk and HR rates aren't quite Eckerslesque.

.129 OAV is pretty ridiculous though.
A .188 BABIP will do that for you.

There are a number of really stellar relief seasons going on right now. Before today's 3 batters faced, 3 K performance Greg Holland had the following numbers:

59 IP - 1.37 ERA, 1.37 FIP, 13.73 K/9, 2.14 BB/9, .46 HR/9, .171 OBA, .85 WHIP

Closest WIS comps appear to be 2007 JJ Putz and 2010 Joaquin Benoit. Uehara is better than them. If he doesn't have a bad outing in the next three weeks, his WIS $/IP should be well in excess of the $50K uber elite level.

Looking at the ####### range factors for my guys <_< , I'd like to just say again how much I hate how WIS does their fielding ratings.

Looking at the ####### range factors for my guys <_< , I'd like to just say again how much I hate how WIS does their fielding ratings.
I understand why they do it for the old timers but there's so much more data available for modern day players. I don't think it would change competitive balance in historical leagues. WIS could always factor the fielding changes into salary values.

Fox sure hasn't pumped much money into WIS. I guess they could have ruined it or made it more expensive but there haven't been a lot of features added (at least to SimLeague) in the decade we've been playing it.

Alright I got the SP here:

Jose Fernandez

Matt Harvey

Mike Minor

Ricky Nolasco

Scott Kazmir

Marco Estrada

Hitters:

I can probably deal

SS- Asdrubal Cabrera (if I pick up a SS in a pitcher deal)

3B- Nolan Arenado, Placido Polanco

OF- Jonny Gomes, Andres Torres

Looking for C, 2B, SS, OF, RP. Need some power hitters.

Round 2 - took Starlin Castro. Considered, but did not take: Adam Wainwright.

Round 4 - took Brett Anderson. Considered, but did not take: Anibal Sanchez

Round 6 - took Ryan Vogelsong. Considered, but did not take, AJ Burnett.

But in fairness to myself,

Round 1 - took Robinson Cano. Considered, but did not take: Ryan Braun.

1.6- OF Bryce Harper, Washington Nattys

My WIS BTTF life is not complete without a young phenom OF.
If he hadn't gotten injured, this wouldn't have been such a terrible pick.

But now, he has the FRAGILE label, and therefore, this pick sucked. :bag: Should have definitely went Cano here.

Dickey in the 2nd was also bad. Gio in the 3rd was fine. Then, there was Kipnis and Goldy.

BEST VALUE

18th Round - Scott Feldman - 3.54/3.80 ERA/DICE 1.13 WHIP 6.48/2.52 K9/BB9 0.86 HR9 168 IP

AND NOT SO MUCH

1st Round - Giancarlo Stanton - Third straight year I get a injury riddled season from my 1st pick (Posey & Longoria)

3rd Round - Miguel Montero

5th Round - Paul Konerko

I also should probably do something about having both Loney/Freeman.

Here's my outlook, fairly well set at this point. I think I could probably trade either Ubaldo or Lincecum since one of the two will end up primarily in a relief role. Would be looking for a RHB, preferably in the OF and a right handed relief pitcher back in return. Since I'm not trying to close a major gap, it would have to be the right deal not just making a deal for the sake of making one. I'd also like to flip either Collins, Brothers, or Duensing for a similar right-hander, so if you need LHP let me know.

Most of these picks looked fine at the time, but Acer much have a curse on him or something.

When I got back, it only gets marginally better, but a lot of these guys will end up starting over JJohnson, Moustakas, Morse, Hughes, GJones and Barmes, who likely all end up on my bench.

(in order drafted)

Michael Saunders

Casey Kelly

Axford

Liriano

Soto

Grilli

Forsythe

... then a bunch of scrubs and Lyle Overbay in round 45, presumably because that's when he went to the Yankees (I also have Derrick Lee, I was determined to lock down that sopt).

I have 1B at-bats, Nick Franklin, OF at-bats available. Looking for a catcher and a SP. Willing to add a RP in the right deal.

Available for trade.

400+ PA Seth Smith (OF), .702 OPS

611+ PA Victor Martinez (1B), .767 OPS

321+ PA Lucas Duda (OF/1B), .776 OPS

Things I would be looking for 1/2 season catcher (RH bat), utility IF, #4 starter, OF (RH bat)
