WIS XV: Alphabet Soup with a side of Salary- Draft & Season Thread (1 Viewer)

Is there still a place over on the WIS website that we can download the ENTIRE batter/pitcher dataset? There used to be, but I lost the link a while ago.
Here you go. It says 2009 but it really is up to date through 2011http://whatifsports.com/knowledgebase/KB_Article_Details.aspx?kbid=588

I'll just get things started. I've changed my mind about 50 times but I'm just going roll with it...

suggestion: consider combining two other letters into one, and adding another wildcard round. going to essentially run out of a letter

Why not combine q, I, and z and say we have to pick 2 out of the 3?That should solve all the problems...
that doesn't solve anything...the whole purpose of this draft is managing a roster with a scarity of resources. Even with the current construct, no one will have a problem constructing a competitive team.

I agree... I'm just not sure how we can justify combining some and not others...I'd have been fine with no wildcard round... There are almost enough at every letter that are usable...

Interesting...that's who I thought was #1 also
I'm not sure there was anything resembling a clear #1, but he's in both a position and letter pool that are pretty top heavy. Also one of the more well rounded offensive seasons available for a RH, middle order bat.

I didn't have Piazza in my top 10. This draft will have some interesting valuations, that's for sure.

I think we should leave the letters as they are. Yes, we'll come close to running out, but we won't run out of anything this way, and the wild card gives people a second chance to fill a hole if they screw things up too badly.

The member the moops cannot receive any new messages

---hopefully someone already PM'd him and that's why his box is full

Also, trading of draft slots is allowed.

Piazza is who I would have taken at #1. Gotta love a catcher that not only can cover just about every single game behind the plate, but also mash and not play completely crappy defense. I had Piazza in an earlier sim and he freaking dominated.

It might have been fun if you were required to pick a stadium that matched the letter of your 1st round pick, or your WC pick had to match your stadium letter, but I think that's getting a little crazy.

I know I'm a couple picks away, but is it ok that I pick now? I'm sure that the next two guys won't take the guy I want...

Why don't you stop picking on Cardinal heroes of the past and start picking stadium, Gramps...

Don't go trying to pull a Koya here, I've seen this trick before.PM'ing TU to let him know he's on the clock for the stadium draft.
