Oof. That sucks.Welp -- that was three attempts at decent-hitting 1B ... and three whiffs:
Wally Joyner -- rolled a 3 (worst slugging season)
Rafael Palmeiro -- rolled a 2 (246 PA)
Andres Gallaraga -- rolled a 2 (worst slugging season)
The only batters that got a best-season roll were Lou Whitaker and Ruppert Jones. :(
The first time we did dice rolls, I got lucky a bunch. I remember rolling George Foster's 52-HR season, for instance. If we did this format 30 times in a row it would likely smooth out, but there’s an inherent unfairness that is the one prime issue with this format.
Tudor's going to be like a hot knife through butter in this thing.Rolls have been a real mixed bag for me. First two rounds as bad as can be missing on four great seasons. Third I hit the jackpot with Tudor.
Yeah, as noted that whole event left a bad taste in my mouth lol.The first time we did dice rolls, I got lucky a bunch. I remember rolling George Foster's 52-HR season, for instance.
Babe Ruth, 18-19-20 ?rick leach, 86, 87, 90
with a good roll i get a number 1 SP and potentially an A+ CF that can hit 4th.

Nice pick, three workable to decent seasons at the least.
I almost waited another roundPhew! Could not punt catcher one more round.
Sparky doesn't believe in using pitchers as pinch hitters but Caveman's .759 OPS in 1984 (35 PAs) is better than my bench bats.Nice pick, three workable to decent seasons at the least.
It's only taken me about 20 rounds but I have a plan! And I now realize how bad some of my earlier picks were. :(Nice pick, three workable to decent seasons at the least.
I've got a half starter with 2 nice seasons left on what is left of a "list" and thenon the SP gig.
Im sure there's folks I've missed. And it's also round 21.
Everybody has a plan until the dice punch them in the mouth. It's only taken me about 20 rounds but I have a plan! And I now realize how bad some of my earlier picks were. :(
I actually had a plan, and was pretty true to it overall. It's also not THAT different than my general strategy, adjusting for the uncertainty and risk (sometimes well, sometimes... nottasomuch)It's only taken me about 20 rounds but I have a plan! My plan was to build a set-it-and-forget-it team that doesn't require frequent management in the sim.I actually had a plan, and was pretty true to it overall. It's also not THAT different than my general strategy, adjusting for the uncertainty and risk (sometimes well, sometimes... nottasomuch)
Where the fun in that?My plan was to build a set-it-and-forget-it team that doesn't require frequent management in the sim.
Basketball sucks more by far although the fatigue death spiral is something to behold.I always love Eephus and how much he despises the WIS sim.
Which one's worse in your opinion, the baseball sim or the basketball sim?
What means this? (being short on innings in general, or the need to actively manage to avoid. Me being a micromanager as I think that's a big part of the fun with matchups and all that)Basketball sucks more by far although the fatigue death spiral is something to behold.
Fatigue in the basketball sim leads to multi-game injuries which exacerbates the problem for the survivors. I vaguely remember a team going 2-80 with most losses coming by 30+ points. I realize WIS didn't design it for BTTF formats where minutes are an unknown quantity. What means this?
Ahhh, for basketball. Yeah, I do recall that issue. I may have accidentally helped by overplaying all my ####ty players that first game which gave me a little cushion otherwise. Rooting for a 3 here, 1990 could be a nice weapon.
