WIS XVII - The Cartereaganbush League: Scoobus beats Sammy in the Wis Series (6 Viewers)

Oooh ... that would've been a good twist.
I thought about that while picking Sandberg... he’d still probably be the best 2B available now (the 40-HR 1990 season was tough to turn down even with C- range) and would likely even get a 3rd set of years drafted late.

Outfield Yount would also be a high pick. I didn’t look real close at the stud 3B because I knew I wasn’t getting one but I’m guessing they’d all get picked many times.

1.20 Ron Guidry, P  ... 81, 77 and oh, I guess 78 too
Was neck and neck between he and Mike Scott... FWIW, even that one risky season, imo, will produce solid if not spectacular results (and in this format, depending upon other variables, probably good to very good).  Upside is obviously Cy Young.

I don’t think I knew Richard or Simmons either when we started doing these drafts.

1986 was the beginning of my learning of baseball. I had the strat-o-matic cards for that year, and RBI baseball was my first video game (86 and 87 playoff and all-star teams).

This first dice roll is pretty terrifying. Really don’t want a 1 to come up and let all these elite pitching seasons in there.

I just read the rules, I thought we were doing one big dice roll sh!tshow at the end, this is way less chaotic.

X is "buried" can anyone take over his squad? He won't be around at all, to busy.
I can do 2 as a last case scenario, if we can't find anyone to jump in and take it over as their own team.

Everyone check your years in the spreadsheet make sure they are ordered correctly.
I just put them all in the correct WIS salary order. Or at least I tried to. Everyone should probably still double check.

Maybe we can do away with the strict order by total salary.  It seems like another potential point of failure.

As long as drafters don't try to game the system too much by intentional contrarianism, we can just let people sequence their possible years as they please.

Wait so we can order them however we want and hope to get lucky on the rolls?
Pretty sure this is the case. Plus, adds to some more randomness so it's not "everyone's best roll" each time.

The "money" way to do this, but probably too much pain for the commish, is to hold off on all rolls until the end of the draft.  Then you do roles for EACH round, not just one role... in real life, if you have a player with peaks and valleys year to year, you don't know which you get until that season. Here, we can adjust with a later pick.

BUT, we can talk about that for when the second wave of Corona comes to take the rest of us.

I'd vote for order them as you want. Just no ####in' shenenigans people.

So then we’re not listing them as best season #1, second best #2, third best #3?

Seems like that’s not what we were trying to do but w/e everyone wants.

Seasons should still be ranked in rough order of best to worst but forcing strict sequence of the three by WIS salary seems like an unnecessary complication

Does it make a difference? No matter how we order them ... we still have a one-in-three shot at their best season

I'm in favor of sticking with WIS salary. I don't trust any of these nerds not to game the system. Especially not myself - if I thought we could order them however want, I would've taken Guidry over Sandberg and stuck 78 in the 3 slot.
