WIS XVII - The Cartereaganbush League: Scoobus beats Sammy in the Wis Series (3 Viewers)

Well, there goes that writeup, lol

Declan Tank/Tre2:  Tom Kelly, MN Twins

Tom Kelly had a cup of coffee with the Twins in 1975, rocking a 506 OPS and clubbing one ball out of the park.  However, as manager in '87 and again in '91 he managed the Twins to World Series Championships.  He loved scrappy (####ty) bench players way too much; perhaps because of his 13 years in the minors.  He brought a young, ragtag group from worst to first in '87.  They went from woeful to very good for a number of years under his leadership.  He's been a Twins guy all his life, for better or worse, and my son loves the Twins

Manager pick: Tom Kelly

The Blackened Voodoo are entered into the league. Six teams remain to be entered.

TRE:  **** Williams -- Won two WS with the A's prior to the 77 season, but also turned around an Expos franchise that hadn't had a winning season (ever) under Gene Mauch.  Went on to manage the Padres and won the pennant in '84.  Played in 13 years as a pro with Brooklyn, Baltimore, Cleveland, KC and Boston and had a .260 average.

TRE2/Declan Tank: Lou Pinella

Pinella won the 90 WS as manager of the Reds in his first year with them after being jettisoned by the Steinbrenner.  He's like 16th in wins all time as a manager today.

As a player, was the '69 ROY and made the '72 AS game.   He was a career .291 hitter.

I'll take Rene Lachemann as my manager.  Loved his meltdowns as Mariners skipper and he is a true baseball man.

53 years in the game

For the first time in 53 years, Rene Lachemann will be at home when Spring Training camps open.
Lachemann has worked as a player, coach or manager every year since beginning his pro career by playing in the Kansas City A's organization at the age of 19.
Lachemann began his post-playing career by managing in the Minor Leagues with the A's. He later joined the expansion Seattle Mariners, with whom he eventually made his big league managerial debut, replacing Maury Wills in May 1981.
Lachemann also managed the Milwaukee Brewers for one season, and he was the first skipper of the expansion Florida Marlins. A Minor League roommate of Tony La Russa, Lachemann coached for La Russa with both the A's and Cardinals. He also was on the staff of his former Minor League manager, John McNamara, with the Red Sox.
Lachemann also served as a big league coach with the Cubs, Mariners and, most recently, the Rockies.

Don't forget to try the promo code FREESIM1 just in case

It appears to have a strange memory of who is new and not new, so you might be surprised.

I had to get a brand new account because I have no idea what email I used for my WIS account.

So I signed up for the free league with a new account and now it wants me to pay.  To be honest, I'm not having this today.  I'm done trying.

Wanted TK obvs.

MGR - Red Schoendienst.  Cardinals manager from 1965-1976. But, in order to get eligible for this, managed 37 games in 1980. And, to be eligible for the next one, came back again to manage 24 games in 1990.

I'll take George "Sparky" Anderson as my Manager.

“If I ever find a pitcher who has heat, a good curve, and a slider, I might seriously consider marrying him, or at least proposing.”

“I cannot get rid of the hurt from losing, but after the last out of every loss, I must accept that there will be a tomorrow. In fact, it’s more than there’ll be a tomorrow, it’s that I want there to be a tomorrow. That’s the big difference, I want tomorrow to come.”

He should fit in well with the degenerates on my team.

Five teams still need to join.

I never noticed this little pearl on the league page

Violations of theme league rules may result in a $500,000 fine per violation and/or game forfeiture.

You guys think MLB will be back before we start this sim?
It usually takes longer.  We're doing great here (in these challenging times) (and we're doing it together)

Relax nerds.
