Personally think hard mode is about as fun as pulling letters out of a hat.

Which gives me an idea for my first guess tomorrow...

I like hard mode because it really makes you think about the word choice for each guess - somewhat building/recalling a larger vocabulary base.

Alright! I was kind of nervous after two guesses because I could think of several possibilities for the 1st/4th letters. Wondered whether I should take a shot at it or guess entirely new words to rule out letters. Got lucky to get it in three.

She has clearly never learned geography at school...so this was fun and useful to do with her.

Don't kids learn basic geography in elementary school? Continents, oceans, main countries, etc? I recall her big brother learning this stuff at the same school when he was there....maybe a COVID casualty.

Hard mode with a word like todays was how I imagine my streak will end.  Total crapshoot.  Thankfully it didn’t have one additional solution or I may have been screwed.  Tricky part was the first two are definitely more common and then it was a coin toss between my last two guesses.

Similar experience here.  I almost certainly got luckier than you did in terms of ruling out some consonants that might have fit that second letter.  I thought my third guess was going to be correct, and then guess #4 was I think 50-50 between two relatively uncommon words, one of which was the solution.  (I do hard mode too, but it's self-imposed -- I've never bothered to actually click the little tab.)
