i'm a little surprised Obama is winning this. I guess the younger FBG's never got to experience the full suckiness of Jimmy Carter.

Both will be historically bad but Obama wins this one. I actually bought into the "Hope and Change" mantra. Never heard that saying again after the inauguration. Carter was just Carter.

Carter gave us Volcker, ramped up the military in his last year and went 4 years without war or bombing anybody.

tommy, when you compare two things, it's "worse". you're welcome.
no they are competing for "Worst" so pick one
Or maybe the President that talked so damn long in his opening speech that he got pneumonia and died?
You mean William Henry Harrison? Egad, he was sick his entire presidency and couldn't do anything. I'm willing to give the guy an Incomplete for a grade.
That's the chap. Two hour inaugural address with no coat on.
F###er deserved it. Seriously, who gives a two hour inaugural address?
Answer: the worst president ever, obviously.

How can you call him the worst? He wasn't POTUS long enough to do anything other than lie in bed.

Look at every statistic that starts being impacted negatively around 1980 (worker wages vs productivity, cost of higher education, massive change in wealth distribution to the rich/income inequality etc) and the only answer can be the patron saint of revisionist history, Ronald Reagan. His entire popularity now is manufactured, he was not nearly as popular with republicans when he was in office or soon after he left office.

How about the worst Congress in history? It's either:

1. 2011-12

2. 2013- 14

3. 2015-

These are the 3 Congresses dominated by the Tea Party. For most of his term this is what Obama has been forced to work with. They have been incompetent and beyond awful.

the worst president ever is always one of the last 2-3 presidents from whichever political party you do not associate yourself with

duh

But that is not the pole.

Hard to take this seriously given Obamacare. If you look at what his original proposal was and what he was able to get pushed passed his own party, it's pretty clear his acumen for "working with others" is pretty bad even within his own party.

HW Bush wasn't a bad President. And W wouldn't have been bad had he not invaded Iraq.

Obamacare was passed during the first two years.

But you're right, Obama is pretty awful at working with Congress (though the TPP was a major success.) Even so, I can't ever recall a Congress more unwilling to work with a President. The example of Obamacare that you brought up is a good one. Many of it's ideas, including single payer, were originated by conservatives. Back in the 90s Jack Kemp had promoted a similar plan, and it was part of the Dole campaign in 1996. Yet Obama could not get a single vote from the Republican side. His own hubris was only a minor reason for this- the major one was that Republicans believed they had more to gain politically by simply opposing Obama on every issue no matter what it was.

Don't mistake my post. I'm not letting the doofuses in the GOP off the hook. Their actions are pretty ridiculous. I do believe that they ramped it up though for THIS particular president because of the tone he set early on. There was no question they wouldn't work with him after he started off as he did. I was just pointing out that his own party didn't work with him either. He got through his own party what he could have gotten through a rational GOP from several years ago. That's embarrassing and a reflection on Obama more than anyone.

Didn't know the Tea Party was formal party affiliation and especially that they "dominated" Congress. Please enlighten me on these number. Thanks.
