WR Amari Cooper, Free Agent (1 Viewer)

Thursday game, vs best pass defense in NFL, likely has Sauce on him, low scoring game, injured, and coming off a massive game with big expectations.

This all feels really not good. Don't think I have the balls to bench him but he could be the bust of the week.
Thought I read that Sauce doesn't follow receivers

Someone up thread posted #1WR numbers vs the NYJ this year
I suppose. But the Jets allow the least number of fantasy points to WR's this year of any team in the league.

I can't speak to who covered whom in these games, but the Jets allowed:

Lamb 11-143-0
Waddle 8-142-0
Brown 7-131-0
Waddle 8-114-0
Diggs 10-102-1
Hill 9-102-1
Adams 6-86-0
Allen 8-77-0

Again, they've allowed the FEWEST fantasy points to WR's this season.

I think I am going to put DJ Moore in over Cooper. No injury designation, more rest and a better matchup. This is a standard league and while the Falcons have given up the 2nd fewest WR fantasy points, the gap between them and the Jets is almost 70 points. That’s big enough for me to give Moore the nod considering he also ranked higher on Fantasy Pros.

Since Flacco took over at QB, he's passed for 119 more yards than the #2 QB in that time. Cooper has been the #1 fantasy WR, scoring 20 more points than the #2 WR. If fantasy teams have other top WR options that are viable options, it makes it a lot easier to pivot to someone else. In my case, my other options are Achane or London, neither of which have done much the past couple of weeks.

Now I have to decide between McLaurin or diontae at flex

I was gonna drop Cooper but he deserves a ring for his performance last week so I'll roster him still

Tillman even worth a desperation play now?
Yes but I can't do it.
He had eight targets a couple games ago but his "coming around" development has been like 2 or 3 catches.
It's reasonable but I can't...no way I can lose n sit all off-season on a whim replacement

Whether Cooper plays or not, I can see this being a big Njoku game. The run game isn't overly reliable, so I can see a lot of short passes to Ford/Hunt. The Sauce/Reed duo may very well neutralize Cooper and Moore (revenge game alert), and Njoku will probably roam the middle of the field. I'll probably be wrong, but just a gut feel.
If only I could manage my own team like this.

Ugh... too late. He's in for me. Wish me luck.
Good luck the rest of the way.
It still seems a reasonable prediction to me

Sorry man

now... sit him again this week (obviously) and have him 100% for the PLAYOFFS
The Browns could still get the 1 seed if things break right. MIA would have to beat BAL, BUF would have to beat MIA, and PIT would need to beat BAL. Sitting him would make sense if the Ravens beat the Dolphins this week.

Ya, I'm already expecting that to happen (the BAL win). In which case, rest EVERYONE.

Pretty sick. Could you tell me to start Lawrence over browning? Lol

Browns creamed them- think the coach knew they would without Amari too. Jets are sunk

Go with Browning :scared:

Me either and really makes sense.

Mini-camp is not grueling and I don't care how much money you make just throwing away $100K should be taken to lightly but players have sustained injuries at mini-camp When you got a $20m contract with zero guarantees left on it that's reason enough to not risk it and add in wanting an extension I think the $100K is ultimately a small price to pay to avoid the risk.

The new CBA has almost effectively wiped out holdouts. We get some hold-in's, Chris Jones was a rare exception for not reporting, but I honestly can't think of a player who held out of an NFL game since the new CBA went into place. The most this would escalate to IMO is Amari holding-in for a chunk of camp. Not ideal with a new OC, but we are far from that and resting his older legs won't be the worse thing in the world. Plus him and Watson are a little tight and I'm sure they'll talk and work out some together on their own.

Hard to believe he’s only 30 in about a week. I am sure he’s looking at the ridiculous money thrown out to guys like Ridley or an unproven Jeudy on the same team and wanting a new contract.

What's this guys value in dyno? Mid secondish?
It would take a late 1st for me to even consider it on a contender. On a rebuild, you could be right.
Probably a case where the owner values him more than a potential suitor does so it likely has the "trade gap" and therefore can't easily get a deal done. Seems like the kind of player that will be mid season targets of contenders and selling for rebuilders to max value.

Not the highest of highs, but still consistently good. No black ink, and only 5 gray ink in 27 triple crown counting stats.

Full PPR by season:
  • LV 2015 WR21 PB
  • LV 2016 WR15 PB
  • LV 2017 WR35
  • LV-DAL 2018 WR18 PB
  • DAL 2019 WR10 PB
  • DAL 2020 WR15
  • DAL 2021 WR 27
  • CLE 2022 WR10
  • CLE 2023 WR 21 PB

    WR1 - 2, WR2 - 5, WR3 - 2

TBH probably didn't deserve some of those PB selections, but can't bag on him too much - 7 1K seasons out of 9, has only missed 7 games. 2017 (ankle) was his only down year.

The concern here is that Amari relied on Watson at QB for most of his good games.

Several medical experts aren't overly optimistic about Watson's recovery.

Yep, he's been really good but I understand why in real football and most of all fantasy he's been a little under appreciated.

I did a startup in 2016, year he came out and took him 11th overall. If he never does another thing he's been worth what I paid but I expected more upside, I'm sure a lot did. I know a lot of people have revisionist history but I'll say he was my highest ranked incoming rookie WR from the time he came out till Marvin. Combo of floor/upside. Part of that was a good call, the upside just never hit as much I thought it would.

Add to that his penchant, which may not be his fault at all, for disappearing for long stretches and what strikes the observer as possible low levels of passion for the game at times are some of the other reasons he's probably never been as well received as his production.
