WR Amari Cooper, Free Agent (3 Viewers)

Showed he got hurt on that 3&4 play at the end. Anyone know what happened?
He went up high for a ball, landed hard, and maybe hit his head on the turf. He got up and walked off the field under his own power. He looked okay. His bell got rung but looked fine. I suppose it could be a concussion but he looked alright to me.

If he's healthy, he'll be good.

12 targets today.

Watson's an absolute disaster. But he's doing enough to support Cooper most week.

I hope some other team trades for him, he's too good, he just needs a QB to throw catchable balls. KC better pick up the phone and get him

He had an 80-yard touchdown called back for holding, a cheap holding call on the backup center. That was a huge swing and cost the Browns the game. He would have had a huge game had that touchdown held up. I would need to look again at it, but it did not look like holding.

He had an 80-yard touchdown called back for holding, which was really kind of a cheap holding call on the backup center. That was a huge swing and cost the Browns the game. He would have had a huge game had that touchdown held up. I thought it the call was pretty bad call. I would need to look again at it but it did not look like holding to me.
The refs seem to be calling offensive holding more than usual. I've seen a few weak one against the MIA TE, Julian Hill. The teams with the most accepted OH penalties are GB, CLE, DAL. I think Tunsil alone has more overall penalties than some teams.

No idea. The targets are still there. But we've seen 3 dudes and 1 crazy good game. He feels hard to trust for FF.

Hard to read this morning as a Watson SuperFlex starter in a tight matchup.

You think this is fun, just wait until he starts missing games with minor injuries. :excited:

Adam Schefter mentioned a possibility of Cooper to KC on NFL Network. Not reporting anything is happening, but I feel like its noteworthy if Schefter mentions it.
Glad you posted that. Someone I follow tweeted it out and I didn't have the energy to verify haha. A little more motivation to maybe try to buy low.

The other thing: At some point, Cleveland is going to have to pull the Watson plug. Similar to Dalton coming in and saving the Carolina offense, Jameis would be a rising tide for the entire Cleveland offense. With the insane contract Watson has, maybe they're resistant to do it.

Believe it or not, Watson actually had his best game as a Brown this week. His INT wasn't his fault, and he should have had 3 TDs if not for drops/shaky penalties. Of course, the Raiders are also a week removed from making Andy Dalton look like prime Drew Brees, so its probably much more about matchups than anything else.

That interesting because I don't think Cleveland would do that without another trade to bring back a receiver. I say that because unless they are waving the white flag, and I don't think they are, hard to see how they wanted to seemingly upgrade from Cooper to Aiyuk to just being ok losing Cooper. So I feel like if Browns got to the point of trading Cooper it would set off a little chain reaction and the most glaring candidate that makes sense on multiple levels for Cleveland would be obtaining Hopkins.

But I for sure think knowing the Browns would have traded him if Aiyuk gave the ok is messing with Cooper's mentals and I feel like he could really use a change of scenery and like I'm saying I think the Browns are up for it, but only if they can bring in another WR.

No worries. I’ve got two really mediocre QBs waiting in the wings to start behind him.

Maybe they can try another reclamation project in Skyy Moore like they are trying to do with Jeudy.

Juedy IMO has performed well in the past at various times, full on broke out in 2022, and dealt with a mountain of obstacles in Denver. He's not what some of us thought he'd be but he's I think he's a good WR and has played well this year and might even be worth the contract the Browns gave him.

Skyy Moore blows. Almost forgot he's still on the team. If you want a reclamation project on par with him that might be Elijah Moore, but even he showed more then Skyy did. But man give you Juedy more respect to then putting him on same level as Skyy.

Agree about Skyy Moore - talk about a guy that didn't even meet low expectations. Just threw his name out in case they wanted some warm body back at WR. Jeudy has played well for sure, we just have to realize he's not going to be that guy who was drafted at #12 overall. Not sure what happened to the other Moore in Elijah. Had a really good rookie year and looked like a guy with a big future. Then the Jets drafted Garrett Wilson, he had a bad attitude and that was it for him.

Alas, this thread is about Cooper. His mind doesn't seem to be in it, as he's always had a great pair of mitts and is making uncharacteristic drops. And can't attribute to age because he still seems to be getting open. Maybe a change of scenery is what both parties need, but easier said than done.

Maybe a change of scenery i
Mentioned that earlier and just now thinking that Amari petered out with the Raiders. Got traded to Dallas. Rebounded. Petered out. Traded to Cleveland and rebounds. Looks like he petered out again.

I've been of the opinion his mental state was in a bad spot knowing they tried to trade him and he's in a lame duck contract status but maybe he just needs a change of scenery every few years? He's a little bit of a different dude.

Good point - maybe he’s like a leased car when you want to trade him in before the lease expires

I think it's pretty obvious some damage was done with Aiyuk talk. Nobody likes feeling unwanted and he's kind of playing like it.

If he gets traded to the Chiefs, it SHOULD be a return to WR1 numbers. Elite QB and the motivation to play well.

An aside, but mentioned in the discussion above, I don't think Hopkins is going anywhere this year. JMHO, but I think that outside of the coaching, film study, etc. , he's the most critical piece involved in the development of Will Levis. Between Hopkins and Rudolph they have 2 seasoned veteran on-field voices whispering to him outside of the formal classroom stuff, and I personally think that's too valuable of a big-picture dynamic to disrupt, in this critical phase of Levis' career arc.

What kind of draft capital would it take to acquire Amari from the Browns. It makes too much sense. He is cheap and can still produce.

Mike Clay
An absurd 45% of passes directed at Amari Cooper have qualified as "off target" this season.

We haven't seen an off-target rate that high for a player with 40+ targets since at least prior to 2011.

Depends on when.

If we are talking now I'd think he'd be very expensive unless Cleveland was getting another WR back because I think they are still a bit away from throwing in the towel on the season and trading him away without bringing in another WR would do that. As is they are 1.5 games out of a playoff spot.

I believe the Browns are the team that submitted the rule change to have the trade deadline pushed back. Might come in handy for them this year but long story short I think he's expensive now because they are not selling, will be cheaper if it's a near deadline type deal and they don't like where they stand.

But even then he still might be more expensive to acquire then people are considering because of his contract. I'm thinking as a trade deadline guy it does not make much sense for Cleveland to trade him for less then a third and I think they could get it. If he's actually producing like he was last year I think they could get more. More then Diggs and maybe Davante will draw, because his contract creates a much larger market.

I am very comfortable speculating the Browns braintrust has thrown in the towel on this season. Mentally, anyway. Washington was this season's inflection point and this team collectively **** the bed. We just won't see it in action until they return home next week as this just happened to be a conveniently timed road trip.

Thanks for your input and opinion but I just as firmly stand on notion they are pretty far from throwing in the towel.

Sounds good in theory, and while NFL trades happen more frequently than in the past, they are still pretty rare. Just be prepared to watch him languish the rest of the year with Watson.

Amari Cooper traded to the Bills

Funny it happens same day as Adams trade
It looks like Buffalo has no ability to move the ball downfield, none of the current Wide Receivers are really making an impact and I saw some terrible routes last night
Josh Allen deserves better and they are going to bring him some reinforcements, Cooper will fit in well with Allen and will be happy to work with him catching passes

Amari Cooper traded to the Bills

Lol
I love when I’m wrong, especially since I have him in my main league.
All good, just funny they were b2b posts.

A few posts up I said the Browns were not sellers. I was actually just about to quote myself and say they might be now but to late so like you I'm wrong. Give enough opinions out, it happens.
