WR Engram Out Indefinitely

Associated Press, ESPN - [Full Article]

Seahawks WR Bobby Engram will miss Sunday's NFC West battle at St. Louis with a thyroid condition and will remain out indefinitely. HC Mike Holmgren said tests revealed the 11-year veteran has a thyroid condition that is causing an accelerated heart rate and fatigue. Engram, 33, is due to have more tests in about a week. WR Darrell Jackson is likely to get much of Engram's role at inside, slot receiver in three- and four-wide formations. WR Deion Branch will make his second Seahawks start at split end.

TE Stevens To See Around 30 Plays

José Miguel Romero, Seattle Times - [Full Article]

Seahawks TE Jerramy Stevens practiced this week and his surgically repaired left knee appears well enough to allow him to get in for about 30 plays, which is about 10 or 15 less than would be typical for him. "The week went OK," Stevens said. "We stuck to the plan we had, kind of taking it day by day. It's getting there."

This is really bad news.

If it says what I think it says, Engrams season is basically done, no? And also after umpteen years, that might just be a career.

My prayers go out to him and his family. I'm sure this is something that can be controled with drugs, but i think they may be on the banned list (anyone know the family of drugs he is getting into with thyroid treatment?).

Regardless. I just hope he gets healthy as quickly as possible.

Peace-

I think he biggest problem will be the fatigue. I don't see him starting ahead of Branch or Jackson but if he can keep in shape he should be able to play the #3 WR role or at least 3rd downs.I think Seattle knew something was up when they gave up a #1 for Branch.

Jackson, Branch AND Burleson. With Engram in a contract year, I think the writing is on the wall. And I agree, I think Seattle saw this coming.

(KFFL) The Seattle Seahawks have declared WR Bobby Engram, DL Craig Terrill, OG Floyd Womack, TE Jerramy Stevens, DL Joe Tafoya, OT Ray Willis, RB Shaun Alexander inactive for Week 6.

Thyroid problems can be easliy controlled with drugs, I believe. I'm just curious about the symptoms. It seems the accelerated heart rate would point to hyperthyroidism while the fatigue would point to hypothyroidism.

Bobby Engram, WR SEA

News: Seattle WR Bobby Engram's thyroid condition is probably viral in nature and the team expects him back for its Oct. 29 game at Kansas City.

This is from the CBS Sportsline news center - still seems like a little speculation, but at least its positive.
