WR Brandon Aiyuk, SF (5 Viewers)

For now, though... Aiyuk also had a hammy injury in preseason. I'm willing to bet this is mostly about protecting him from himself and also some kind of attitude thing. It's hard to know exactly what's going on behind the scenes but Aiyuk flashed as one of the best young WRs in the league last year. He's not going to end the season behind anyone else on that team.

I in no way targeted Pettis like I did Aiyuk.   Got him as my WR3 in all 3 of my redraft leagues.  Pettis wasn’t even on my radar.  Just one man’s take.  

 
he was drafted about rd 5 in redrafts.  tough to give up on that but this doesn't feel right & with Shanny as the coach a lot of things are unclear.  cripes could have gotten Deebo in the 8th?  it's only one game, it's only one game, it's.................................

 
Well there you go...that does make him borderline droppable and really inflates deebo's value going forward

What a shock to those that drafted him

Deebo is also an amazing WR, he delt with injury issues last year or would have had a huge break out himself.

No for me but IIRC I have good options in the one league I took him

But I was record here saying take him anyone after the Rams WRs both go (roughly DJ Moore, Julio, Thielen territory), quite a few took him as there WR2 and likely dint have great options to slide into WR3/Flex

ok, 2018 he was healthy...only got hurt in 2015, ‘16, ‘17, ‘19, ‘20, & ‘21.

many of those were of the soft tissue variety, including a strained glute just last month

so fun to watch, WR in a RB body. think his ADoT last year was like 2.2 - YAC monster & a good rusher as well

I took him in the 5th as well.  As my WR1. 🙃

Julio, Moore, Higgins, Jeudy, Thielen, Claypool all went around there. Which is funny because my next target was Jeudy but he got snagged right before me.

We’ll see how this pans out.

 
I’m very tempted to buy low given all the noise this week. Has anyone dealt him or dealt for him and what’s the market looking like for him?

Well, I'm set at RB and weak at WR. He was offered to me for Latavius Murray, and I hit accept pretty quickly. I don't know if that reflects the market for him or not. Lots of uncertainty but the potential upside is worth it in my case.

In a 10team 3WR/1flex 1 QB full PPR dynasty, I'm rebuilding and just sent Lockett and Rodgers for Aiyuk and Hurts.  NO ONE wanted Lockett or Rodgers all last season and I can't imagine the value gets any better.  

 
Brandon Aiyuk (hamstring) was a full participant for Wednesday's practice.

The world will be watching Aiyuk's participation alongside/behind Trent Sherfield now that there's no longer an excuse for the former to be limited with a hamstring injury. Sherfield out-snapped Aiyuk 27-26 behind Deebo Samuel (46) Sunday but it was Aiyuk who laid an egg in the box score. Fantasy managers are better off letting him breakout (if he even does so) on their benches in Week 2 to avoid the headaches that would come with any continued timeshare.

You won that trade easily. I’m here thinking of moving a Boyd type for him. For what you gave up that’s a slam dunk.

Wow, you STOLE him. As an Aiyuk owner in PPR dynasty, that is not even close to fair value for me

I agree. Aiyuk was a 1st round pick that was elite at times last year and was successfully utilized on rushing plays as well. He also averaged over 12 targets a game during a 5 game stretch last season. He showed a lot of promise last year through actual production on the field and it seems like Shanny is just making a point now about participation in practice, not necessarily a decline in form.

Yes, value is down. I love the Cincy WRs this year, so yeah I'd go someone like Boyd if nothing else to have a higher floor. 

 
The thing that worries is my is the combination of this benching, the 49ers gameplan and Jimmy G.

If Aiyouk is out for a couple of weeks (or limited) because of coaches can he get anywhere near as productive as last as the season moves on?  That's the only way he has value in redraft

There is still Kittle, RBs, Samuel to feed and they will be in a groove with Jimmy G

 
49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan said WR Brandon Aiyuk "would've got his spot completely back" if not for a hamstring injury before the team's final preseason game. 

Shanahan said the Niners "planned on rotating" Aiyuk with WR Trent Sherfield in Week 1 "and you get a big reaction to that." "It's not personal," he said. "Things are a bigger deal because of fantasy football." At least Shanahan knows his roster decisions are triggering millions of fantasy managers. With a full practice on Wednesday, Aiyuk appears recovered from the hamstring issue he dealt with since the end of August. Aiyuk will be impossible to trust for fantasy purposes unless we get more clarifying reports before the 49ers play the Eagles on Sunday.

Aiyuk is penciled into my flex spot and I think he’s due to bounce back from his zero. How far he bounces? No one nows. Can’t get much worse though. (I’m looking at you Ronald Jones)

 
I was thrilled to add him to my team as an owner in my league just cut him. I feel like I just stole something.

Me too. Especially considering that I lost Jeudy and have some OK-but-not-great replacements for him as my WR3 (Agholor, Patrick) it's nice to have someone with some upside.

He got dropped in a 10 team league of mine and I've got my waiver in for him, dropping Waddle

In my dyansty league, this summer I tried to send D.J. Chark, O.J. Howard, Jordan Fuller, Darius Slayton, and another player for him and never was able to finish the deal. The guy got busy with work and life, has 31 or some odd teams and never got back to me. I haven't been able to consummate that deal yet. I'd still do it.

I’m not a fan of Aiyuk and don’t have him anywhere but if someone dropped him, I would probably come close to putting all my money in a bid for him.

What don’t you like? He was incredible against man coverage as a rookie and finished about 18th at WR on PPG. Run oriented offense and many competing for targets could be a problem. 

 
Showing my age w this comment, but I can't believe the hysterical one-week overreactions.  Doubtful the guy was anyone's WR1/2; let it play out a little while.  

 
One other aspect I really like about Aiyuk's game is they use him on rushing plays. I would not be surprised if he scored on a jet sweep against the Eagles.

I don't.  And I also don't take much away from preseason either, which is why I'm still firing up Deebo in every league I've got him.  But that being said, the sf offense has tons of playmakers and it's possible any of them break out any given week.

For sure but over the course of a season rookie QBs and scrambling QBs almost never support 2 fantasy viable receiving options.

Likely so. It’s just scary when you punt on WR and your WR1 goes into the first game with a zero in the targets department. 

I get it. I was just adding some sarcastic color commentary. 

Luckily my WR2 (and my first 4 picks) hit it big last week. So I’m not panicking.

I am with you. I took a lot of zeroes last week from Aiyuk.

 
Starting him again in a few leagues and benching in a few. Don't have better options in some and simply can't trust him in others.

 
Brandon Aiyuk caught 1-of-2 targets for six yards in the 49ers' Week 1 win over the Eagles.

Aiyuk played 38 snaps versus the Eagles. Trent Sherfield was on the pitch for just 24 plays but he still saw one more target than Aiyuk. The increase in snaps is a step in the right direction but Aiyuk remains behind Deebo Samuel in the pecking order even if he has passed Sherfield. With one foot still in the Kyle Shanahan doghouse, Aiyuk is a risky FLEX play going forward. A high-octane matchup with the Packers gives him a notable ceiling in Week 3 but his floor is essentially zero.
