WR Calvin Ridley, TEN (4 Viewers)

Double digit TD's is a lock in this offense.
A lock? Wow. Feels more like his ceiling.

But I have Ridley rostered along with Tee Higgins as my top 2 WR's. Feeling a little thin there so I REALLY hope you are right.
I got his ceiling at triple digit TD's, but that's just me.

I joke I joke. Thinking he is floor level WR2/top 24 WR this year. Got him at 92/1140/10

I was going to post this in the thread where everyone is posting draft results, but seemed more appropriate here.

Underdog has this guy at 23. I've just completed 2 very large buy in drafts, and he hasn't made it past 30. If you consider the upside, and really even the floor given his competition for targets on the team - to me he's right there with AJ Brown/Olave rather than the beginning of the next tier in the Tee Higgins territory. If you are drafting ESPN/Yahoo/Sleeper (non-intelligent rankings) Ridley is the easiest 3 rd pick ever.

Christian Kirk, and Zay Jones got a lot of targets last year because that's all Jax had. Ridley is him.

My brother in law is a season ticket holder and one of Shad Khan's financial advisors. Very plugged in with the team and is at many practices. Says it's actually alarming how much better Ridley is than anyone in that WR room in every way. T-Law has fallen in love with him all camp, and pre-season showed the same. Lawrence is projected to take a big jump and has looked great all off-season and camp. All I am saying is I hope you guys don't overthink this one!

Idk about y’all l, but Ridley seems like a sure fire lock as a WR1 this year. Lots of hype about him. Lawrence already loves him. He’s outshining everyone. Im thinking somewhere around top 5. If him and Lawrence both stay healthy and he doesn’t finish top 10 I’ll retire from fantasy football forever

Lots of hype for a guy who hasn't played in a real football game in 22 months, seems like alot of people forget 2021.
I hope the best for him and I added him for nothing a year ago in two leagues and traded him in both for firsts so I'm happy but out.

I snapped him up in the 3rd without hesitation, and had already drafted two WRs with my first 3 picks. Couldn’t find a RB in the 3rd that presented that same value you see here.

So lots to be seen how it plays out, but I agree with your theory.

Ridley looked great in the preseason game versus Miami. But Kirk, Zay Jones, and Engram, plus the RBs are all good targets. I don't think Lawrence will force it to Ridley, limiting his upside. Top 10 is more realistic.

Engram has one good season(last year). He’s been injured almost every year. Zay and Kirk are not elite which is why they got Ridley. Ridley makes all of them look like they are moving in slow motion

How many elite years has Ridley had, maybe 1. He's their best receiver, but Jones, Kirk, Engram, Hasty, and Etienne are average to good experienced receivers, that Trevor will elevate, along with Ridley.

Isn't that the guy that was pimping Mason from San Fran before they traded for CMC?

I wish he acknowledged that Kirk finished WR12 last year, what are we all missing?
Kirk is one of the top 5 Slot-WRs in the NFL, he's very good at what he does, catching the football.
Kirk gets paid $18M a year, got a $20M signing bonus from Jacksonville, he doesn't move like he's in slow motion

Yeah Mason’s 6 yards a carry were terrible huh? I liked him because of his talent and he had injury prone backs in front of him. Apparently the 9ers staff didn’t like those backs either which is why they traded for CMC

Kirk is very good at what he does, but they are saying Ridley stands out from everyone including Kirk
Yup.

As I was telling MOP that he would months ago yet I see he is still talking about Kirk being a top 5 slot receiver.

Let me try this again and see if it can penetrate that dark helmet.

If we only let all WR be slot WRs Kirk would maybe be in the top 50 not top 5. Ridley and other WR can do what Kirk does better than Kirk does. Its just that other WR can do more than what Kirk does so they are not limited to being called slot WR.

I like Christian Kirk and how well he performed last season with Lawrence is just evidence of how good this QB is more than anything else. Ridley is much better than Kirk so put the 2 together. If Kirk was a top 12 WR with Lawrence last year how good will Ridley be? Better than Kirk for sure.

We only joke with those we tend to like or make us laugh, relax
We also like those that laugh at themselves

This . I think he will finish in the top 10 as well. Drafted him in both leagues and a bunch of best ball

Kirk will still be a decent WR #2 in fantasy because the Jags throw a lot, and will probably finish top 3 in passing volume this year

Engram and Jones will fall off some though, and will be much more inconsistent

Talent always wins out, and Ridley is an elite talent who landed in the perfect spot.

He will be as Diggs was for Josh Allen and Lawrence is the best QB he has ever had

We might be underselling Kirk. He caught 8 TDs inside the 10 last year, playoffs included. He's more than a deep threat. Can JAX support 2 top 20 WRs? Also, Engram ended on a high note, 2 hundred games in the last 5 games, and a 3 TD game 17.

Plus the concern about the long time off after injury and suspension. Like, who knows what he's been up to in that time? No idea what condition he would come back in.
I do a keeper league where you give up whatever round pick you used if you want to keep a guy. So last year, I took Ridley late, maybe 12th round, and held. I thought it was a longshot, because of the time off.

It has been all good from camp this summer, and if he IS focused and good to go, from a talent standpoint those other players are just nice pieces you fit beside a stud. He just had one elite year? Everyone else there is NOT elite, we already know this. Ridley has shown elite, and he's not old. If Lawrence is the really deal, tough to see how Ridley wouldn't kill it this year.

Ridley was elite in 2020. But not in 2021 before leaving the team. Maybe his head wasn't in it, maybe it was the decline of Ryan. As I mentioned earlier, the other receivers are average to good, and Kirk is being underrated. Plus, Pedersen likes to use his TEs in the passing game. And Etienne was a great receiver in college. This is not BUF where they're still trying to find a complement to Diggs. Or, maybe Lawrence is better at ball distribution than Allem.

This Ridley thread mentions too much Kirk in my opinion. Kirk is a very solid small twitchy slot receiver, there are many of those on teams with actual elite WR's. They can both be good. Philly and Cincy both have 2 receivers in the top 12! I think the Jags will pass just as much as them. I seriously doubt Kirk will be top 12 again, but I could see him in the top 20. I firmly believe Zay Jones and Evan Ingram are just good NFL players, and nothing more.

If Lawrence takes the step that by all accounts everyone involved are seeing him take, and expect that to continue....there is so much room in this offense for both to flourish. This offense is going to be really good. Elite talent on a very good offense always goes well - Ridley is the only elite receiver in that room. You can be skeptical and wonder if he's in shape, if his head is right..etc. And those are fair points. But by all accounts all camp, and what we have seen in pre-season - he's killing everybody and in great shape. Give me an easy road to top 10, and great shot at top 5 all day in the third round.

I've got Ridley on a bunch of teams this year. In early drafts he was a no-brainer in the 5th/6th, WR 20-25 range. I took him a few nights ago in round 3 as my WR 1 (WR12 overall) in my big money league and in retrospect think it was a huge mistake that could potentially torpedo my season.

I kind of got conditioned to having him on my teams and passed on surer bets knowing he's been rising up the boards. The truth is Ridley isn't a young guy. He's 29 and been out of the league for two years. I think TLaw and the Jags take the next step and can understand the excitement, but Ridley is a huge mystery box at this point. Sure, we all saw the hype videos in camp and he made some flash plays in preseason, but no one really knows what this dude can do in a full season.

I'm hoping for the best, but in retrospect I made a rookie mistake and got caught up in the hype. It's actually the same mistake I made with Michael Thomas last year, and he never steamed up this high. Fingers crossed.

I think you will be fine.

While the questions about the time away from the game and what shape he is in are legit things to wonder about I have zero concerns about this because I know Ridley loves football and wants to be the best player he can be.

Its not about him just showing out in camp, he has been like this his whole career.

Not sure how y'all got Ridley so late with all the hype. He went pretty early in all my drafts......like 2 or 3 rounds before Kirk. I just didnt see the value. I scooped up Kirk in 3 drafts as a WR 3/4. I'll take that all day long. It's not like he's a bum.....dudes legit coming off his best season as a pro by far.

I took him at 31 and it was my biggest regret of the draft. Devonta went around 25 and then there was kind of a dead zone for WR but I wanted to take one. Next WR were Deebo and Watson.

Anyway I think that’s what pushed him up drafts. He was in the WR dead zone and people were convincing themselves he has potential to make the jump into real WR1 territory.

I don't understand why people were killing him like he wasn't far and away the best receiver Atlanta had and the best one Jacksonville would have... he was away for a year uninjured, it wasn't like he had some horrible injury he had to rehab. I guess recency bias?

Calvin Ridley caught 8-of-11 targets for 101 yards and a touchdown in the Jaguars Week 1 win against the Colts.

Ridley played at a different speed in his Jacksonville debut, regularly finding himself wide open and earning a 34 percent target share. Ridley had just one second half reception as the Colts made defensive adjustments and the Jaguars leaned on the run after taking a lead. He barely stepped out of bounds on a catch and run that looked to be his second touchdown on the day. The runaway No. 1 wideout for Trevor Lawrence, Ridley should be locked into lineups as a top-10 fantasy play in Week 2 against the Chiefs.

Welcome back Mr. Ridley!

He was so close to an even bigger day when he went out of bounds and didn't even need to. Guy gets so much separation, and always has - add in the trust Lawrence so obviously shows in him with those throws into ultra tight windows yesterday....full steam

I'm guessing you feel a little better about it today.

When he plays, he is a really good receiver. But I think people are hesitant to go all-in with any professional athlete that has stepped away from his sport in the past for mental health reasons.

Again anyone would struggle with PTSD and anxiety if they experienced what he and his family went through

His second half usage bothered me a bit, but dang, great start to the year!
Indy basically sold out to stop him after halftime. Which didn't help at all, as it basically left them struggling to stop everyone else. I don't think most teams will do that.

Yeah pretty pumped especially compared to how some other players drafted around there went. I always believed in his potential just felt like 31 was a reach but very happy to be wrong.

That sucked- I guess lots of near misses. Should be ok I suspect that the chiefs sold out to take him away opening up kirks non threatening 10 ypr. Jags better have a counter because this could be troublesome
