Not a Kirk Owner...gotta believe he does get legit $ so that limits his landing spots...if I had to guess:

*Patriots-don't see it happening due to the $ but he would be their #1.

*Texans-if they can develop Mills into a legit starter their rebuilding takes a major step in the right direction so it may be worth it to overpay a little to surround him with some weapons.

*Raiders-could be a nice fit on the other side of Renfrow...gonna be some shootouts in the AFC West

*Falcons-not much happening at WR right now.

 
Jaguars agreed to terms with WR Christian Kirk, formerly of the Cardinals.

The free-spending Jaguars have money to blow, and blow it they will. After already luring RG Brandon Scherff and then handing big-money deals to LB Foyesade Oloukun and DT Foley Fatukasi earlier Monday, Kirk is the latest to take the handouts in Jacksonville. The need is there for the Jaguars, though, as D.J. Chark is a free agent. In Jacksonville, Kirk will pair with Marvin Jones on the outside, assuming Jones remains despite being a product of the old coaching staff. Laviska Shenault will likely be buried under the new staff. Kirk should slot in as Trevor Lawrence's new top wideout.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports Christian Kirk's four-year deal with the Jaguars is worth "up to" $84 million. 

Ay caramba! Mamma mia! It sounds like the base level is a slightly — emphasis on slightly — more reasonable $72 million, but it is still backing up the Brinks truck and making a 25-year-old wideout who has never had a 1,000-yard season one of the highest-paid receivers in the league. It's a function of desperation, and a receiver market picked clean by franchise tags and re-signings. Kirk is downgrading both teams and quarterbacks in Jacksonville, while new coach Doug Pederson never oversaw a 1K campaign by a wideout in Philly. Translation, even if Kirk proves to be a good "real life" add, the fantasy arrow is pointing downward.

When he was healthy in 2020 he was a stud.  Arguably more productive in that one season than Kirk has been his entire career. 

my point was that he’d be cheaper than 84M…..by about 83M.

I did miss that. I read it as 84m for Fuller as well. Yes for 1 million would be a slam dunk.

This sounds like obscene agent math to me. 

Don't get me wrong, I'm here for the dogpile on the Jags owner, but let's maybe not pull out the knives, ya know?

More like 4 years at about 16/per. Still high, but that's free agency for you. And Amari is still 20 mill a year. Frankly, the Browns should be getting roasted for paying that.

 
Hopkins out much of the year, Rookie-WR and an aging vet with nothing to stand in his way and he racked up 100/1400/12Tds right? 

77/980/5...and he got $84M over 4 years, insane.

What is DeVante Adams worth now?

He has a definite market value that last I checked on Spotrac was $25M, you see a guy like Kirk get $21M per season and you gotta think you are worth a significant amount more. You watched the guy who tosses you the ball get $200M, he's not walking on that field under a franchise tag, won't happen. 

And Adams already has money, he got almost $60M last 4 yr deal from Green Bay, that tag is an insult.

What's your point?  The packers arent gonna give him 40 million a year just cause of what Kirk got.  Kirk was a free agent.  Free agents get paid more than they are worth on the open market.

Adams wont hit the open market.

They gave Rodgers $50M, they gonna let Adams sit out or wreck their potential Super Bowl run?

Adams very upfront about it, isn't waiting until Summer time, he let them know there's no way. 

Players can figure out ways to get out of things and maybe he starts feeling wobbly mentally as the season approaches and Green Bay induces some mental anguish over what Adams perceives as unpaid salary and it just forces him to have to take some time away to get right. He'll still draw a paycheck and save his body for when a team wants to really pay him a fair wage.

Fair wages is all he is asking for here, you can understand how he feels.

While I firmly believe the Pack sign Adams to something like a 4 year 110 million dollar deal, I also firmly believe Adams would play on the tag if that was his only option.

He isnt gonna get 40 million a year just cause Kirk got a stupid deal, though its not really an 84 million dollar deal

Big difference with Woods coming off back to back 1200 & 1100 yard seasons when he signed that. Even factoring in a FA premium vs extension, Jags are way overpaying for a guy that hasn't had a single 1K yard season.

Not arguing that it's an overpay. Just saying that it's not as drastic an overpay as people might be thinking. 

At first blush, it's forty million guaranteed over two years. That's too much, but it's a little more reasonable than first reported, and more reasonable in the light of other signings. 

Still probably a bad one, if you ask me.

Amari Cooper is twice the WR Christian Kirk is though. Cooper is a legit #1 WR, albeit not a top-10 guy. Kirk is a #3 WR masquerading as more.

I don't even think he's the best WR currently on the Jaguars, and he's a downgrade from a healthy Chark.

It's pretty drastic IMO. Kirk's never been a WR1, he wasn't even a full time starter for Arizona despite being healthy last year. Every other name on that list posted to Twitter around his was a WR1 and blew away Kirk's numbers. Jags just paid WR1 prices for a WR3 at best.

I roster Chark, and this is debatable. I'm not saying I disagree, but there's debate to be had about it. Chark was quitting on plays his third year with Jax. It was weird to watch. I guess when Minshew is QB'ing and throwing medicine balls like he was, one might quit, but with Chark it was obvious to the naked eye. And he grumbled about his QB. Not a good look, really. Jax might have figured they're just done with him or out of his market range.

Yeah, I'm not going to plant my flag on that contract. At all. I was just posting a contra opinion by a pretty bright dude in Adam Harstad. 

 
My biggest takeaway from this, besides the Jags continuing to prove why bad teams stay bad, is that some team should really offer a 3rd/4th for Laviska Sheanult. He's clearly not a big part of the plans going forward.

Jags just signed Evan Engram for 9 mil too. They are giving Carolina a run for worst front office.

Jags are such a clown show, I fell we should double check that it's not Bobby Engram.

 
Been catching up on my twitter feed which has a few ex NFL front office/coaches and a few of them are saying people inside the NFL think this deal is as ludicrious as it sounds to us. Some saying people in the league are mad at Baalke, other's telling WR's they are trying to sign stuff like this contract was an outlier and not one they are using to set a price. Good luck with that.

It seems like every team is stupid with these mid level WRs. The Patriots aren't exaclty a laughing stock franchise and they are paying  Kendrick Bourne and Nelson agholor almost $20m combined. 

 
Considering nothing can be inked yet, any chance the Jags hear how stupid this is and back out?

Only kidding......sort of
