WR Marques Colston (ankle) missed practice Thursday, but said he could have participated "if he wanted to push it."

Of course, Colston also said he could have played last week and yet hasn't begun practicing regularly, so take that with a grain of salt. At best, he's looking like a game-time decision. Source: New Orleans Times-Picayune quoted from Rotoworld.com

Sorry Joe, looks like we both were typing this thread at the same time. Great Minds think alike eh? :D

One note, the difference between last week and this, is that he did practice "Last Thursday".The fact he was favoring the injury in light drills just 2 days ago, doesn't sound encouraging. But who knows, perhaps the end result will be the opposite of last week, and he plays this week? I hate GTD's. At least it's an early game.

Please post the latest news here. Please use this as an injury update thread, not a who do I start, or who I am starting thread. Thanks.

WR Horn, WR Colston, Miss Practice, Questionable

Mike Triplett, New Orleans Times-Picayune - [Full Article]

Saints WR Marques Colston and WR Joe Horn both missed the team portion of practice Thursday, and are listed as questionable for Sunday. Colston said he could have practiced if he wanted to push it, but he is trying to keep the ankle rested in the hopes of playing Sunday. LINK

Sounds like they may have done some individual work?

Post anything relevant to their playing status here. All relevant news is appreciated, at this most important time of the Fantasy Season.

Thanks,

Sounds like we are headed for a GTD.

Colston Update - NOLA / Times - Picayune

INJURY UPDATE: Saints receiver Marques Colston did not participate in the team portion of practice Thursday and remains questionable for Sunday's game. Colston, who missed last week's game at Atlanta with a sprained left ankle, said he could have practiced if he wanted to push it, but he is trying to keep the ankle rested in the hopes of playing Sunday.

It's looking like a good play for Devery Henderson! I have Roy Williams, but I don't like his matchup at all vs. New England. I can see Detroit barely having the ball. Henderson has been money with Colston out, let's hope it stays that way. Question, if Horn is out, does that also mean Henderson starts?

Last time Horn was out against PIT Copper got the start in place of him. That was before he fumbled the ball 2-3 times however.

It's a juicy match up too.......Frisco's been playing better but I don't know if they really need him. They have a few guys they can actually throw the ball to. I don't think they'll rush him in here. I have him in a couple leagues but with decent options to go with him so regardless of this matchup I'm going to watch this week. I'd like to see more positive news during the middle of the week before I start someone during a week 13 matchup.

While Joe Horn (questionable, groin) returned to practice Friday, Marques Colston (questionable, ankle) missed at least a portion of the workout.

Horn should start against a Niners secondary that is less than full strength. Colston appears unlikely to play after missing work all week but may again be tried out before game time before his official status is determined. New Orleans plays San Francisco at 1ET on Sunday.

Heard on the NFL Radio that Colston is still quite gimpy. I would not count on him this week.

Thanks guys - great "gets" on the news - especially on the updates from TODAY's practices that sound as if he is not as close as we were originally led to believe

I am with the camp that thinks it is a good idea to wait a week if you can afford to do so.

How much playing time should I expect from Copper this week? Is Henderson now ahead of him on the depth chart?

FYI - Copper had a total of three targets last week, that's if you include the Hail Mary (the only pass he caught last week) as being targeted at him. I was at the game and kept expecting him to be part of the offense since Colston was out and it just didn't happen. Who knows what to expect this week?

CBS Sportline reporting:

Colston misses practice Friday

Marques Colston, WR NO

News: Saints WR Marques Colston missed practice Friday, ending the week without working out. Typically when a player doesn't work out in full on Friday, he doesn't play on Sunday, though Colston is expected to be a gametime decision for Week 13 vs. the 49ers. Colston suffered a high-ankle sprain in Week 11 vs. Cincinnati. Devery Henderson is expected to start in case Colston cannot play.

Analysis: If you own Colston, you should monitor his status on Sunday, but expect bad news. When healthy, Colston has proven to be a No. 1 Fantasy receiver. Henderson has played very well in Colston's absence and should be looked at as a low-end No. 2 Fantasy option if he does start vs. the 49ers in Week 13.

LOW END NO.2? :lmao: :lmao: He's had 3 games over 100 yds in the last few weeks. He's been lighting it up. He's starting over DJax for me...lmao at "low end No.2".

I would hope that is factoring in the risk of reinjury/being limited. Then again, it's CBS sportsline, so you're probably right. That's likely their full-strength evaluation.

Sorry. I cut a post from the thread that was deleted and pasted the clip that said Time-Picayune was the source. I assumed the Times was the source as it said there. My mistake if I should have credited Rotoworld instead of Times-Picayune.J

Colston is going to be a GTD. The coaches think he can play, but Colston himself hasn't ever had an injury like this and doesn't want to make things worse or make him miss additional time. He will be testing it out prior to kickoff, so you'll know by 1PM if he's a go.

Not verbatim (hence no quote), but that's approximately what he said and I believe I got the sentiment here.

Everyone's watching this guy this week, hoping that he plays at this critical time of year. Like Adam alludes to here, the coaches think that he can play, but Marques doesn't know how he will react to playing under game conditions.

SF is a GREAT matchup with questions throughout the secondary, but unfortunately we are unlikely to know anything before Sunday around noon.

From RTsports player notes:

Dec 1 2006 5:29PM

New Orleans Saints WR Marques Colston (ankle) was limited in practice Friday, Dec. 1, and he will be a game-time decision in Week 13, although he is leaning towards playing. From observing him in practice, and how he has felt this week, he feels he is further along than he was last week. He is listed as questionable on the team's injury report.

The thing I haven't seen mentioned is the variety of sprain he has. Missing this much time, and the fact he spent time in a boot, all screams of "High" ankle sprain. RB and WR are effected most as it limits their ability to cut, and move laterally, and is very easy to aggravate (re-injure). Judging by Colston's comment he doesn't have much confidence in the ankle, so if he does play, could be limited. It's also worth noting that Colston did have this injury before, as a Junior.

Saints :: WR

WR Colston, WR Copper Status Still Uncertain

Jimmy Smith, New Orleans Times-Picayune - [Full Article]

Sensational rookie WR Marques Colston has a sprained left ankle, HC Sean Payton said, and his status for Sunday's game at Atlanta will likely be determined Wednesday after two days of rest and treatment. "I don't know yet; it's too early," Colston said Monday when asked if he could play. "It's a little stiff. I've been getting treatment all day. I've had this before as a college junior. I was out about a week. I'm not sure about this yet.

The latest news I could find backs up what Jeff and crushtang are saying as he will be a GTD...

Colston took in some limited practice drills on Friday but he's pretty much in the same situation as last week. He'll warm up before the game to determine his final status.

At least it's an early game, and we should know his status in time to make adjustments. D. Henderson would be the play again if Colston can't go.

FoxSports.com's John Czarnecki reports the Saints figure to be without Marques Colston (ankle) Sunday vs. San Francisco.

He's still a game-time decision so there's a chance he could be active, just not a good one. Devery Henderson will play plenty of snaps if Colston can't go. Joe Horn (groin) is expected to start opposite Henderson.

Time to get him in the lineup.
no kidding, i'd rather hear H.K.'s opinion on the matter

As a Colston owner I hope he rests another week. Playoffs start next week for most leagues, lets have him back hopefully near 100%.

As a Colston owner, I need a win and points for the playoffs and a bye......Counting today we have 2 more weeks to go before the playoffs....If he's not at risk, let him play, PLEASE

I second this--I have a bye and really need him in week 14. I traded Boldin and Jamal Lewis for Stephen Jackson and Stallworth, as I had McNabb. Now McNabb goes down and Stallworth is not worth crap without him, so I need a healthy Colston for week 14, rest his butt!!

I noticed on the ESPN ticker that it lists Horn and another player as Questionable, but no mention of Colston being OUT or PROB......

WWL (Saint's Radio) also reporting that Colston is "down" for the day which I assume means inactive. I believe their saving him for next weeks showdown with the cowboys.
