WR Davante Adams, LAR (2 Viewers)

NFL Research@NFLResearch
Davante Adams (85 & counting) now has the 5th most receiving TD in a player's first 9 seasons in NFL history...
Only Hall of Famers Jerry Rice, Randy Moss, Marvin Harrison & Terrell Owens had more in such a span

NFL Research@NFLResearch
Davante Adams now has 4 games with 100+ rec yds & 2+ rec TD in 2022...
That's the most such games in a season in @Raiders history

Davante Adams caught 3-of-7 targets for 71 yards in the Raiders' Week 14 loss to the Rams.

Adams' first touch of the game was a spectacular one-handed grab in the face of defensive pass interference from Jalen Ramsey on the opening drive of the game. He would burn Ramsey again down the sideline for a 35-yard grab in the second quarter before being scripted out of increased involvement in the second half as the Raiders clung to a 16-3 lead until just over three minutes remaining in the game, a lead they would eventually relinquish via late-game heroics from Baker Mayfield. The good news for Adams owners is that he saw a target on seven of 20 Carr pass attempts. Adams gets a more difficult matchup in Week 15 as the Raiders host the Patriots.

OK boys, what are we doing here? I feel like the way SFO shuts down the run, they will likely be playing catch up and you might as well pepper your best WR that sheer volume alone will still make Devante a viable option. If there are better options on your roster by all means but some of us don't have that luxury. What is everyone else's perception of Carr's benching for DA?

Feel like you have to play the guy.

Agree. I think you have to play him despite the last couple of weeks.

The Raiders are benching Carr.... not sure what to expect from Adams (not that I knew what to expect with Carr either at this point)

If the Raiders move on from Carr though... I doubt Adams will want to keep playing for them?

So Adams leaves GB to play with his college QB and then they bench him. Sounds like that went well.

Reason # 4097 why the Raiders have been a bottom 5 franchise for almost 2 decades.
That said, as long as Adams doesn’t rebel and want to walk away from the Raiders, they at have a true #1 WR and a very solid WR and TE corpe.

Davante Adams caught 7-of-11 targets for 153 yards and two touchdowns in the Raiders' Week 17 loss to the 49ers.

This was Adams' first game without Carr under center since joining the Raiders. It was also Jarrett Stidham's first career start. Expectations were understandably low, but the duo blew them out of the water. Stidham targeted Adams early and often in this contest, fueling him to a 32 percent target share. The highlight of both players' performances was a 45-yard bomb with less than two minutes left. Stidham gave his receiver a chance to win a contested catch downfield and Adams made a diving catch in front of a San Francisco defender. The grab also gave Adams the single-season receiving record in Raiders franchise history. Adams will close out the 2022 season versus the Chiefs in Week 18. He will remain at the top of the WR1 ranks.

Davante Adams said he wants input on who the Raiders bring in at quarterback in 2023.

Adams also added that he plays to play for the team next season, so fans questioning that can breathe a sigh of relief. It's no secret that Adams joined the Raiders this season to play with Carr, who he was teammates with during their time at Fresno State. Unfortunately for the two best friends, Carr appears to be on the outs with the Raiders after being benched in Week 17 and subsequently declared inactive for the final two weeks of the season. Adams is under contract with the Raiders through 2026, although the team can opt out of his deal with a $15.7 million hit in dead cap after 2024. If he and the Raiders hope to make a deep playoff run during his tenure with the team, the quarterback situation will need a massive upgrade -- especially with Patrick Mahomes and Justin Herbert in the division. While Adams may have a say in who the team brings in next season, the 2023 free agent quarterback class is pretty underwhelming outside of Tom Brady (assuming he returns).

The Athletic's Vic Tafur believes the Raiders trading Davante Adams is "not in the cards right now."

Adams, who has expressed some displeasure about the team's offensive direction and philosophy in recent weeks, has a dead cap hit of $31.4 million if traded this year and $23.6 million if traded in 2024. That makes it highly unlikely the team would deal Adams even if he fetched a first-round draft pick from a potential suitor. The Raiders parted ways with Adams' longtime buddy Derek Carr this offseason, replacing him with Jimmy Garoppolo. "Garoppolo doesn’t have Carr’s arm talent, but it seems Adams wants him to be aggressive rather than check it down to the tight ends and running backs," Tafur said. Jimmy G's shortcomings could be a knock to Adams' fantasy prospects, though he remains a top-five fantasy wideout for 2023.

The Boston Globe’s Ben Volin reports Davante Adams left practice with an apparent leg injury.
Per Volin, Adams took a shot from 49ers LB Oren Burks at the beginning of team drills and was slow to get up. He eventually limped off the field before getting checked out by trainers. Adams eventually left the joint practice. The injury could be nothing, but it’s worth monitoring given Adams’ importance to the Raiders and the fantasy landscape. Should the issues cause him to miss time, Hunter Renfrow and Jakobi Meyers would be in line for notable bumps in target share, though the Raiders’ offense would likely crater without its top receiver.

Raiders coach Josh McDaniels said Davante Adams’ leg injury isn’t “crazy serious.”

This isn’t the most comforting quote from McDaniels, but it looks like Adams will be okay after going down early in Friday’s practice before limping off the field. The Athletic’s Tashan Reed later added that, per a league source, the injury is minor. Adams’ injury will be worth monitoring over the next week or two, but fantasy managers can breathe a sigh of relief for now.

Davante Adams (leg) returned to practice Wednesday.
Raiders coach Josh McDaniel said Adams was “ready to roll” before practice. Adams went down with the leg injury after taking a hard hit from 49ers LB Oren Burks last Friday. Though his reps could still be limited in the coming days, it looks like Adams’ injury will be a non-story going forward. Fantasy managers can continue taking one of the best receivers of the past decade at the one-two turn in drafts.

Davante Adams caught 6-of-9 targets for 66 yards in the Raiders’ Week 1 win over the Broncos.

Adams’ longest grab went for only 18 yards as the Raiders were forced to work the short-to-intermediate areas of the field at a high frequency. Whether that was primarily attributable to the opponent or the lack of a legitimate downfield threat remains to be seen, but it is likely this offense could struggle to push opposing teams downfield considering the lack of a viable field stretcher. Adams and the Raiders turn their sights to their Week 2 showdown with the Bills with their first win under their belt.

Raiders HC Josh McDaniels said Davante Adams is “good” after leaving Sunday’s loss to the Bills following a hard hit.

Adams took a helmet-to-helmet shot late in the fourth quarter of Saturday’s loss and didn’t return to the game. Despite how it appeared on camera, McDaniels’ comments would lead us to believe Adams won’t be entering the league’s concussion protocol ahead of Week 3’s matchup against the Steelers. Adams has 150 yards and one touchdown through the first two games of the season, and will be a high-end WR1 if he’s able to go next week.

Hot start last week and then the Bills just shut Davante and the Raiders down.

I own him in one league and thinking about trading for him in another.

I think his arrow points up from here on out.

Devante is the only Raider I (sort of) trust for fantasy right now. This offense is heavily dependent on the running game and for some reason, they can't run the ball at all so far. Something smells rotten in Vegas this year between Josh McDaniels normal odors and most recently, the stench of Chandler Jones' carcass.

Anyone starting him this week? Looks like Bloom has him projected for 0 points and League Dominator has him listed as "injured and bench".

No designation on yahoo. Plus he never went into concussion protocol and mcdaniels said he was good earlier this week. Should be all systems go.

Davante Adams caught 9 of 11 targets for 108 yards & 2 TD on 19 routes against single-high coverages.

Adams has 2 more TD receptions (10) against single-high coverages than any other receiver since joining the Raiders in 2022.

whoops- swing and a miss thinking jimmy g would tank his value. Dude has been dropping 150 and 2 games on the reg in Las Vegas. Don’t think the packers should’ve traded him

I know Justin Jefferson is awesome, but I'll still argue that NFL-wise Davante Adams is the best WR in the NFL.

He doesn't have Jefferson's speed. It's fairly apparent. He never was a speed guy, but maybe a little less so now. Not too much in the way of YAC.

I got Adams for 2/3 of the price of Jefferson in my auction league because enough of my leaguemates thought like this.
I splurged on Jefferson and then got Adams at $28/200 in auction just placing a bid to drive him up not thinking I’d get him.

Loving this pair of WRs as my RB room is sparse (was sparse and some tickets are paying off… I’m looking at you Achane)

Adams is always open and Jimmy peppers him with targets. Can’t ask for much more.

Any chance Vegas trades him in a few weeks or nah? Also for fantasy purposes, is he a guy to target?
I really hope they do.

The good news is that he’s clearly QB-proof so if they don’t his FF value is relatively safe.

He’d be a nice fit in LAC with Williams season ending injury, but it’s the same division.

Chiefs clearly need an alpha, but again - same division.

A packers reunion could be possible, but they have a nice young corps of WR, so I’m skeptical.

He’d look really good in Honolulu Blue, but would the Lions really bring in a WR? Adams / ARSB would be a nightmare to try to stop.

Patriots need an alpha WR, but they also need a QB to throw to him. I doubt this is a fit.

As a 49ers fan I’d love to see it, but Aiyuk, Deebo, CMC, Kittle. There’s only 1 football. Doubt this one happens either.

This is a move the Chargers never make. Would it be awesome? Herbert and Adams? Hell Yes! Is it likely or even remotely possible in the Spanos era? NOPE.

Does the division issue really matter as much when LV knows it's not a contender? They need some draft capital to rebuild. Adams is also 30, so not sure how demanding he can get w contract requests.

I'm not sure the Chiefs would bite for how much it would cost. They've also proven they can win wo a big name. But man, that would be scary.

They'd have to create cap space to trade him but I've got the sense that whether they want to do that or not is by and large up to Adams.

He's been an A+ professional during his time. Not complaining, leading, setting and example of exemplary behavior of a future HOF player for all to follow. That has a lot of value to the Raiders. Just the way I think McDaniels is wired with trying so hard to create his culture I don't think they look to trade him even if they are a non-contender.

But I think if Adams went to them and said he was to old to be in a rebuild and would like to be sent to a contender they would make every effort to oblige if the comp was adequate for the player and the large amount of money they paid out.

Fantasy speaking I don't care. He's fine where he's at.

Not sure about you all but I’m breathing a sigh of relief after yesterday’s injury scare. The way he was holding his shoulder while walking off the field straight to the locker room had me convinced it was a broken collarbone.

Trading Devante this season would result in $23.5 MM dead cap in 2024. The Raiders would need to be blown away by an offer - to the tune of something no team would be willing to part with for a 31-yr-old. Almost zero chance this happens this season.

Next off-season, after June 1, is a much more likely time for DA to get shipped, if it's going to happen.

He got screwed put of an obvious TD yesterday, or else it would have been an even bigger day. Top 3 WR
Still can’t imagine be why the Raiders didn’t challenge that. Fortunately I won by 30 in the only league I have him. Had I lost because of that I’d be livid.
I was so angry, literally screaming at the TV. Luckily I too won but between that and Brian Robinson fumbling on the 1 inch line it was a frustrating day.
