WR Davante Adams, LAR (1 Viewer)

I have the opportunity to pick up Adams in a keeper league where I could keep him for at least the next 4 years.  What is Adams' long term value with Rodgers probably leaving town next year?  How much of a hit does he take?

He is always open and a stud WR.  Even without Rodgers I have him as a top 12-15 WR moving forward.

He's a UFA after this season. No one has any idea where he'll play next year.

Davante Adams caught 5-of-7 targets for 56 yards in the Packers' Week 1 loss to the Saints.

The Packers couldn't get anything going against a hyper-aggressive New Orleans defense and a low-energy Aaron Rodgers. Both Adams and Marques Valdes-Scantling drew a team-leading seven targets from Rodgers before Jordan Love took over at QB in garbage time. Adams will be fine in the long run. It would be helpful if the Packers can convert a third down next week against the Lions.

Davante Adams caught 8-of-9 targets for 121 yards in the Packers' Week 2 win over the Lions.

The only thing missing was a touchdown, but this was still a big bounce-back for Adams after he went 5-56-0 on seven targets in the opening blowout loss to the Saints last week. With the Lions missing No. 1 CB Jeffrey Okudah (Achilles', I.R.), Adams was working against a cast of no-name, young Lions corners and having his way. Aaron Rodgers threw four touchdowns in this one, but three went to Aaron Jones in the red zone, and the fourth was a 22-yarder to Robert Tonyan. Adams will look for his first touchdown next week in San Francisco.

Davante Adams caught 12-of-18 targets for 132 yards and a touchdown in Week 3 against the 49ers.

The Packers' offense funneled through Adams, who accounted for over half of their passing yards. His touchdown came on a goal-line play fake in the first quarter. Adams also made a pair of key catches on the Packers' game-winning drive. He took a helmet-to-helmet hit from 49ers DB Jimmie Ward but only missed one play. The contract-year receiver has 309 yards through three weeks while averaging 12 targets per game. Adams gets a matchup with the Steelers secondary in Week 4.

Davante Adams caught 4-of-5 targets for 89 yards in the Packers' Week 6 win over the Bears.

Adams' five targets and four catches were new season-lows for Adams, but he actually tied Allen Lazard for the team lead in targets on a day Aaron Rodgers threw just 23 passes. Unfortunately for Adams, he watched Lazard score a one-yard touchdown on a shovel pass and Aaron Jones a 12-yarder in the third quarter. Adams was inches away from a long touchdown of his own but tip-toed out of bounds while trying to tightrope the sideline in the second half on a 41-yard catch-and-run. Adams should light up the Football Team at home in Week 7.

Worst starter in my lineup this week. High quality problem when you have 7 offensive players put up 15+. Got the win so NBD.

Still, kind of underwhelming season YTD. Tied with Mike Williams for WR3 in out format, but other than the two monster games (@SF & @CIN) been kinda meh. Take the good with the bad, you’re never sitting him.

I don't think the Packers have any interest in being the same high-flying Packers of last year. Their defense is playing better because the offense is slow and lethargic and methodical. Packers games rarely shootout it feels. Even the Bengals came was barely below 50.

It's not great news for Packers skill players, even Aaron Jones is struggling. Adams should be fine but IDK about the same TD total this year vs. last.

He's vaccinated so could still play with two negative tests, 24 hours apart.  The Thursday night game makes that really difficult, unlikely, but I guess still possible.  I'm curious what the timing cutoff rules are.  I guess he could potentially test positive tomorrow, but negative on Wednesday and then negative again Thursday and play?  He'd have to travel separately I guess.

Anyone else who is using CBS, any reason why he's not showing an IR designation for being on the COVID list? I had that with a couple of guys this season pretty quickly once news broke. I need the roster spot to make a pick up tonight. I'd figure after 24 hours he'd be eligible to place there.

It isn't for sure...... from the article

Davante Adams is vaccinated, but he actually tested positive for COVID-19 and will not have enough time to record two negative tests before Thursday barring a miraculous recovery

So there is a chance..... he was put on the list Monday....I was hoping we would have heard something yesterday..... all he needs is two negative test within 24 hours.  It could happen

Do the packers even have 4 other wrs?  That's going to hurt GB.  I had them to beat Az but i think i might switch now
Cobb, Amari Rodgers, EQ St. Brown, Malik Taylor...and MVS is thought to be on track to return.

But yeah...it looks ugly and I certainly would not be betting on GB to win.

Davante Adams (COVID) is not traveling with the team to Arizona and is out for Week 8 against the Cardinals Thursday night.

As expected. Adams was placed on the COVID list Monday, and the short week made it nearly impossible for Adams to gain clearance for Thursday. Allen Lazard is also out after being a close contact of Adams. The hope for the Packers is that Marquez Valdes-Scantling is activated from I.R. in time to face the Cardinals, sliding him in next to Randall Cobb and Equanimeous St. Brown.

Packers activated WR Davante Adams from the reserve/COVID-19 list.

Obviously this will not be a normal week for Adams given Aaron Rodgers' COVID-19 diagnosis, but with how much of the Packers short game revolves around him, it will be hard to sit him in redraft leagues against a leaky Chiefs defense if he plays. LaFleur is "hopeful" that Adams will play on Sunday, but noted there are still some protocols to pass. DFS players may not want to risk a Jordan Love implosion.

Davante Adams (ankle) was removed from the Week 12 injury report.

Adams picked up an ankle injury in last week's loss to the Vikings, limiting him in Wednesday's practice. The Packers took him off the injury report after he closed out the week with two straight full practices. Adams has a shy away matchup with Rams CB Jalen Ramsey in Week 12 but remains a locked-in WR1 for a game with shootout potential.

Davante Adams caught 8-of-9 targets for 104 yards in the Packers' Week 12 win against the Rams.

Adams' biggest play of the day -- a 43-yard grab down the left sideline -- came on a beautifully designed play in which the Packers used pre-snap motion to move shutdown CB Jalen Ramsey away from Adams. Adams led the Packers in receptions and yardage, as per usual, and Marques Valdes-Scantling tied him for the team lead with nine targets. The ankle injury that limited Adams for part of the week didn't seem to bother him at all against LA. The Packers' target hog will return in Week 13 against Chicago following the team's Week 12 bye.

Adams was limited in practice today with a hamstring injury...Anyone know if this is a new injury or if it lingered from before the Packers bye week? Hopefully it's not a serious injury, but soft tissue injuries can linger.

Davante Adams caught 10-of-12 targets for 114 yards and two touchdowns in the Packers' Week 16 win over the Browns.

Adams caught a nine-yard TD in one on one coverage against a rookie cornerback, which seems like something that shouldn't happen, but it did. That TD came on a play where the Browns hit Rodgers with an all-out blitz, which also shouldn't happen, but here we are. Rodgers floated the ball up to Adams for an easy TD. He then found Adams for a one-yard TD on an out route two drives later. Adams also showed off his connection with Rodgers on a ridiculously precisely timed back-shoulder throw and catch. Adams' worst moment of the game came on a dropped pass on 3rd-and-6 near the end of the game. The ball hit Adams in the hands, but he had to fully extend while running full speed. It was a tough catch, but one he usually makes. Adams will remain an elite WR1 against the Vikings in Week 17.

Obviously if you own Adams you are starting him for the 15th time this year (every week except 1 bye + 1 inj)

Weather should only be a concern if the wind is > 17mph or gusts of 25mph or it’s being played in a hurricane

OK, with those caveats out of the way….

2 Degrees at Game Time???!!

Two, as in thirty degrees below freezing.

Wind chill will be around (-8) so we’re still 15 absolute degrees and 40 relative degrees from the coldest game on record (1967 Ice Bowl.)

Oh wow.

I'm facing Cook and Jefferson in one league. Cook should feel great in this coming off Covid.

GB going to smoke them. Rodgers and Adams will go bezerk.

We can take this a more appropriate place (this is the Adams thread) but that take has no basis in reality.

Cook never cedes carries when he’s healthy. Ever. Mattison cedes minimal work to the RB3 when Cook is out.

Zimmer is - by a good margin - the easiest Coach in the league to predict when it comes to RB usage.

Here are the 15 coldest games in Lambeau history.

https://www.jsonline.com/story/weather/2019/12/13/some-coldest-nfl-games-have-been-green-bay/4412924002/

Here is Rodgers line in the coldest five during his career:

  • minus 1 degree v Giants 1/20/2008 DNP Favre's last game Packers lose NFCCG 20-23
  • 3 degrees v Texans 12/7/2008 19/30/295 2-1 Packers lose 21-24
  • 5 degrees v 49ers 1/5/2014 17/26/177 1-0 Packers lose WC 20-23
  • 9 degrees v Falcons 12/8/2013 DNP on IR Packers win 22-21
  • 10 degrees v Vikings 12/23/2017 DNP on IR Packers lose 0-16
_______________

Not much to go on here as Rodgers only has two starts in games at 10 degrees or colder. It won't completely cripple the offense of the passing game, but it's definitely a different experience catching footballs that feel like rocks.

I'm sure Adams and Jefferson will have respectable games, but doubtful Cousins or Rodgers exceed their season averages.

As I said when we started this rabbit trail, if you own Adams, you start him every week he's active. /discussion

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports the Packers are likely to place the franchise tag on Davante Adams in 2022.

Adams is a free agent at the end of the year and has wanted to be the league's highest-paid wide receiver for some time. With 28 touchdowns and over 2,700 receiving yards in the past two years, there's no doubt that he deserves the hefty contract he's asking for. The Packers are projected to be tens of millions of dollars over the cap next year but Aaron Rodgers' status with the team could change things. Even if Rodgers and the Packers part ways, the team appears set on keeping its star receiver.

Seems fair to say that Adams' value will drop like a stone if he doesn't have Rodgers throwing to him next year, whether in GB or elsewhere. He'll still put up solid numbers, but I'd probably let someone else take that chance unless he becomes a big draft value.
So if he stays and it's Jordan Love where do you put him in the WR ranks?  WR2  (top 24) or worse?

What if he signs somewhere else?  Say, Philadelphia? or Raiders? or Jax?  That runs the gambit between terrible to decent QB play.  Where does that drop him to?

Good questions. I don't have a lot of faith in Love, but if he's still the main guy and they don't bring in anyone else, it's hard to push him down below low end WR1 or high end WR2. It remains to be seen how much Rodgers made him who he is, but Adams seems too good regardless.

If he went to the Raiders or Philly, I'd probably also put him at the same low end WR1/high WR2 given the competition for targets in both of those offenses. IMO, Jacksonville could be an ideal spot for maintaining his value, as I think he'd be an enormous safety valve for Lawrence, who can only improve.

Seems like it would make sense to unload load Adams to the highest bidder if they do the same with Rodgers. The latter at this point is feeling like a decently high probability. I am not a Jordan Love believer. I think the Packers overplayed that hand after it worked so well during the Favre transition.

Packers WR Davante Adams is “looking for a contract near $30 million per year.”

It was already reported Adams wants to be the league’s highest paid receiver. The $30 million average per year would place Adams ahead of the DeAndre Hopkins ($27M APR) and Julio Jones ($22M APR) deals. The Packers, who are $40 million over the salary cap, aren’t expected to offer more than $25 million annually, making a long-term deal unlikely this offseason. With Aaron Rodgers signed through 2022, the most cost-effective way of Green Bay keeping its offense together is to franchise Adams, which would count just $22 million against the cap.

If he wants 30…good luck to him.  Live the guy…such an incredibly gifted player…but anyone paying him that is likely going to be hurting at other positions.

GB couldn’t do that even with a friendly restructuring of Rodgers deal.  Thats what happens when you pay top dollar to the LT and nice contracts to running back Aaron Jones.  Plus having guys like Rashan Gary, Elgton Jenkins, and Jaire Alexander coming up in the next few years.  Already will be hard to keep all of them.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel's Tom Silverstein reports "there have been no discussions" between the Packers and Davante Adams in regards to a contract extension.

The window for teams to franchise tag players opened today and closes in two weeks. Adams is reportedly looking for $30 million a year. With Green Bay currently projected to be over the salary cap limit in 2022, a massive deal for Adams is looking increasingly unlikely. The expectation is that they franchise tag Adams and take the $22 million cap hit that goes along with the tag. This will still force them to make tough decisions across the rest of their roster but it keeps the league's best receiver in town and will be a crucial step toward luring Aaron Rodgers back for another year.
