WR Davante Adams, LAR (1 Viewer)

do the Jets take offers for him from the Niners or Tampa Bay now? Has a player ever been traded twice in a single season within weeks of each other.

The Jets schedule gets a lot easier going forward and I think they can still make a run at the playoffs, plus they aren't giving up yet. Maybe they would trade Mike Williams though.

they have 3 games left they are maybe favorites in and 2 are against the dolphins

I would like their chances against the Pats, Colts, and Jags. They could easily beat Arizona as well.

6-4 or even 7-3 is certainly in the realm of possibility for them.

Since 1990, 10 teams with a 2-5 record after their first seven games have made it to the postseason. The good news is that 4 of those 10 were in the last four seasons, NFL adding a 7th seed made it more obtainable. Packers went 2-5 to start last year and made the wildcard, Jaguars the year before that, then Eagles in '21 and Washington in '20

So the Jets brought in Adams to hope to sneak into the playoffs? It’s not like they look like they are capable of winning a playoff game.

Well they didn't bring him in to tank? They have looked better the last two games despite the losses, they have enough talent to potentially make a run still.

This guy talking a lot for not doing anything. Looked slow on MNF with no separation.

Tough to look slow on Monday Night Football when you played on Sunday.

He was getting separation but Rodgers was missing. I’m not here to say that Davante is in his prime or on the upswing, but he’s still a fantasy WR2 and can get open. He’ll especially get open because defenses are going to have to pay attention to Garrett Wilson first and foremost, lest Wilson burn them deep or for huge chunks.

The Jets have had a brutal schedule so far. Yeah, 2-5 is poor, but they’ve been in every game and haven’t played bad football compared to last year’s iteration that somehow started off better than this one. That team wasn’t very good, and I’m just disappointed that a team that was going to take a while got thrown to the wolves so quickly this year.

Not sure who said they were tanking? I dont see the point in adding Adams to a team with a losing record. Smart teams that are true contenders bring in players like Adams, not teams that are average at best.

I'd love to know how that speech was truly accepted by the team because only person I've heard quoted other then Adams/Rodgers was Kinlaw. Easy to see where it may not have gone over well for some factions of the team but also just odd to me and speaks of Adams incredible ego to feel the need to talk about the speech after the fact. How people received it, that the owner had kind words, etc, etc.

Can’t say I saw that really. What I did see was Rodgers being off-target to him multiple times.
I’ll take some production then listen to him talk. While he’s not miserable like Rodgers this is just a lot of talk. Not their fault I guess we have to have the Jets forced upon us every week.

I mean I’d say his resume kind of speaks for itself, no? I think he’s earned the benefit of the doubt for not dropping 100 yards after being with a new team for less than a week.

Lets see it. If this were another team and not the Jets we would never hear about these speeches about swag or whatever he's bringing I guess is my issue.

I have him so hopefully he goes off.

That's part of being in NY. The rest of the country has to listen to this, see them on all the time. Like the Lakers or the Cowboys.

Maybe no, not that much, especially on this team where the resume of Rodgers got him likely making personnel and coaching decisions and then failed to back up his resume with his on the field play and I think a lot of players on the team are sick of it and not exactly sitting around fanboying over these two.

I don't know any of this two be true which is why I posted earlier how much I'd like to know how the speech really went over. My guess is it was a mixed reaction but he'd have had more respect if he had actually performed well in a Jets uniform. And I'm not saying he's performed poorly, not at all saying that.

Bottom line to me I think at least a faction of the locker room is turned off by Rodgers clout and lack of production and I think some of them see Adams as an extension of all that. But again I don't know how thing really went and I'm not discounting that maybe most players they loved his speech and are glad he's taken the reigns as a team leader.

One thing we should probably all agree on, they need some strong leadership.

For sure. Winning will solve a lot of that. All of that, really. I think they have a shot at least 6-4 to close out the season.

Count me in the group that thinks Aaron Rodgers in 2024, is the best QB the Jets have had since 2015 Fitzmagic, and you probably have to go back to mid 2000s Pennington before that. Rodgers isn't the reason the Jets are 2-5 at all in my eyes. He's been fine (not great, but fine) I'd argue the offense has been better than the defense this year, which is giving up big plays left and right, and can't stop the run. That's the real story I think, is that the Jets suddenly have a mediocre defense,

After having the worst offense and best defense in the NFL last season, the Jets have been middle of the pack at both this season. I'm fine with Saleh being fired, it should have happened last offseason, and Rodgers isn't his MVP version, and likely won't be ever again, but he's still solid. Adams probably also won't be his peak GB self, but he's still very good WR, and is as good or better than Garrett Wilson.

9 targets in game 1, and a full snap share. I think Adams is on the WR1/2 borderline going forward.

I don’t want any part of this team. Will trade for pennies on the dollar. No Jets homers in my league unfortunately.
He stinks after making the speech he did this week

They have the blind leading the blind, these coaches are imposters and not even close to Saleh and we are watching it now first hand
After Saleh they are now 0-3, clearly he was not the reason they lost the games, not on Defense
Rodgers was 17/28, 233 yds, yeah a couple TDs but he isn't making them better than most teams they face. he's a fossil from a different era, his game doesn't work now

Maybe Rodgers shouldn't be 1st team HoF, maybe he should wait a season and go in on the 2nd ballot just to irritate him

This acquisition was a circus stunt to sell some jerseys.

It's so far beyond over for the Jets, Rodgers, and Adams is either heading off the cliff soon or already mid-air.

The trade didn’t make sense for a losing team and will look worse as the losses pile up.
Maybe trade him to a team like the Commanders at this point. Get some draft capital back. I don’t even know if it’s possible, but I’m 100% serious.

Yeah, I argued when they made the move that they still had a chance, but their season is clearly over now they should trade him if they can.

Odds getting longer. Only 3 teams in history have started 2-6 and made the playoffs but the good news is JAX managed it in 2022.

Jets play Hou on Thursday Night next. Hou is 6-2 but been shaky in lots of games plus the Jets blew out Hou last year and now they may be without Diggs too.

Davante Adams ranks 59th (of 59) wide receivers in maximum average route speed (12.83 mph) this season, per TruMedia. That’s among all WRs with at least 24 touches.

Route speed? What the hell is even that.
I'm guessing if you don't have it you look slow as ****...which is what this dude looks like.
Can't believe he is slower than Hopkins
He's probably moving faster then at least Hopkins but the reporter who did this used 24 touches as their arbitrary cutoff and Hopkins did not make that cut. Adams is at 25.
