WR Davante Adams, LAR (1 Viewer)

I'm going to fall for the trap again and start him. RIP me.
Thanks for posting this Raid...made me go and re-evaluate starting him tonight

Backing out his 4th quarter de-pantsing of the weak Raven pass defense, Adams average stat line:

7.5 targets
4 receptions
53% catch rate
46 yards
0 tds

He's been a warrior for so long, and I expended high draft capital on him, but he's out of my lineup until he forces me to play him again

If you have better/safer options, absolutelyyyyy do so. I however am deciding between starting 2 of Adams/Jayden Reed (Love may be out) and Chase Brown.

I am in a pickle.

Yep. I've been rotating JSN and Shakir as WR3 based on matchup, but I trust both of them more than Davante at this point.

Weird vibe about this game. I can easily see a Jets victory and maybe not that close. Texans are down weapons... assume Gardner follows Dell... they can't pass block and now Haason Reddick is hunting. Unless Joe Mixon can dominate, they could be punting a lot.

Aaron Rogers, primetime "winnable" game, just saw that he needs 2 TD passes to pass some record by Peyton Manning. If they lose, and Adams duds again the NY media will rain down more than ever... NYG lost (again), NY Yankees got bounced... Jets have a chance to be heroes for the week.

I predict Rodgers drinks extra cayenne pepper water this week resulting in burning diarrhea and dizziness. The dizziness leads to a sack fumble returned for a TD. Burning diarrhea leads to some leakage that gets on the ball causing a poop-slip INT returned for another TD. Adams ends up 3 catches for 35 yards and a stink finger.

I was just about to say the exact same thing

This is really weird, because I WAS just going to say that too!

Take that to the bank brohans

Concussion?

ETA - Does it seem like there are more concussions with less hits up high? Players now hitting their heads on the field after getting their legs taken out? Law of unintended consequences? Or is it just that concussions are more apparent and taken more seriously now?

Not sure why he has 4 more targets than GW.
Rodgers loves his bro? Count yourself lucky Lazard isn't in there, Wilson wouldn't even be on the field.
Wilson has 17 PPR points tonight. That’s 101 in the past 5 games. The dude is consistent and underrated at this point.
Wilson is a great WR. And he's just getting started in this league. His growth as a wide receiver from his final year in college to now is amazing.

All I'm saying is, how could Rodgers look Adams in the eye at their candlelight dinners if he didn't feed him the ball?

Adams still has more targets and AR loves him. Plus DA is very talented. However, we all see that GW will not go down without a fight. It does help that AR’s other best bud is on IR.

Adams>Wilson, but its a 2-man passing game. Adams doesn't come out for about a quarter, and he sees 15+ targets. Adams was a drop and a Rodgers misfire from a 30 point week.

ETA: I'd call Adams a high-end WR2, and Wilson a middle of the road WR2.

The Jets O freaking stinks man. Rodgers is such a shell of his former self. 13 targets, AWESOME! But 6 catches for 31 yards? Pitiful.

He's hitting my bench for Reed going forward (Who is scary in his own right too).

2.4 yards per target....oof
That was just a game but this has dropped every year for 5 straight seasons and went really south last year.

Everyone blamed that on the QB and a lot of people argued with me here that he was still elite. That ended in 2022 and I thought was pretty obvious last year.

He can still work out ok in fantasy because of the volume but he sure needs a lot of it. Like he did last year to be merely ok.

He won't ever play on his current contract next year. That's always been known and why he was trying to get the Raiders to redo his contract all off-season. If Rodgers returns I'd imagine they try and work out a restructure. If Rodgers hangs it up they'll likely just cut him and will be interesting to see what his market is and how he responds to that. Maybe will be better then I think and he can come out like Diggs did on a one year deal and I cite him as he looked to be on a similar decline but Davante will be about 2 years older next year then Diggs was this year.

Lastly I'll pile on Adams with one more thing and to be clear I got the guy on a few fantasy teams so hope he can put up stats but if it sounds like I don't like him a lot, that's accurate. Don't really care for him. The guy I saw on that Netflix doc and way he acted to get out of the Raiders was a total turn off. So here is the last pile on. Twice since he joined the Jets they've talked about this lack of energy and I can't help if he's part of that problem? The old player who used to be elite who is not anymore but acts like he still is can be a real turnoff, especially to younger players. I've heard a few times, not sure if it's true but have heard it a few times, that the main Phil Jackson retired was that Kobe was older and had declined but did not realize or accept it and Phil considered that kind of player, the ex-elite who acts like he still is the hardest thing to coach. That's how I view Davante now and wonder if other teams will as well if he sees the open market.

As a Raiders fan…I agree.

I actually was late to start watching that doc (still have a couple of episodes left) but started watching just a few weeks ago when this Adams “injury”/force a trade thing was going down. I’m so glad I watched it cuz I went from “man, the Raiders can’t keep any great players” to “good riddance!” Dude literally says that winning isn’t the only thing for him and that he has certain personal goals and expectations for his performances. The end part of that sentence is fine, but when paired with the first part……dude. winning should be EVERYTHING.

Don’t let the door hit you in the *** on the way out.
And I’m not sad at all that he went to another bottom of the barrel team. Lol

What a wasted redraft pick this year. One could have gotten more production 6-7 rounds later with Waymo (and that’s with 2 duds & a 2 g suspension) or any of a couple dozen WRs drafted after him.

(I didn’t take him but would have if the draft fell a little differently.)

Was on my DND list from the getgo...along with many of the 2nd RD WRs.

I was lower than consensus - wasn’t going to take him unless he fell a full round. IIRC he went 1/2 round later, so never had to choose.

I don’t have a DND list. But effectively, putting someone 10-15 spots lower in your rankings is a DND….unless it becomes a great value.

Don't use a DND list either as I believe most players can become decent value at some point but I'll typically end drafting season with a large amount of early round players I'll never draft in 50 some drafts(BB included) because they never drop enough.

In Adams case the 10-15 spots lower then ADP is pretty much what it took for me to draft Adams and I did. 3x.

In August in the contest I was drafting his ADP was 3.1, WR12.

I took him at 4.3 as WR18, 4.5 as WR20 and the last and earliest was 3.8 as WR17 but that draft was on the Saturday after two games had been played and that impacted some of my normal late third round targets.

I thought, and have said here before the season started, his decline last year was noticeable but I'm also someone who thinks volume cures most things but should have been more of a sign last year that even with that massive volume he was pretty meh. Like he was going almost 3 rounds ahead of PIckens who had pretty much the same amount of yardage on over 70 less targets.

I'm forced to start him as my other options are bleak. The targets alone are there for him to be a major fantasy player, but something/everything just looks off with the Jets.
