WR DeAndre Hopkins, BAL (1 Viewer)

Coach said he should be close to full this week and not on a pitch count.
Levis said it would be big to have him back, how he knows the little intricacies he does and to be on same page as him (probably a reference to Ridley and not on same page all the time)

The Coachspeak Index
#Titans HC Brian Callahan on DeAndre Hopkins’ (knee) expected snap count after only playing 17 snaps:

“Likely to be closer to full. Still be mindful of what we’re asking as he gets in shape and starts to feel better and better. But, yeah, I see his role increasing.”

@Bri

Good stash ?
I love Deandre. One of my fave players. He won't leave my FF bench.

He should have had a TD but Sauce held and held. That's like the best one can say this year.

Callahan is not happy with his own offense and tweaking it. He got pressed on saying he's not given Spears and Nuk enough opportunities and then Burks too. (This guy is delightfully open and unlike any coach ever) Sooo during the next interview he explained he's a first year play caller and he has work to do. They scripted plays in spring, more in summer to suit players strengths and he thinks he can tweak it again. He explained last week he had several plays for Hopkins but the drives stopped.
Levis is third in NFL at throwing to (assumed) first read so Callahan didn't throw him under the bus. That definitely has something to do with this though.
Callahan said he and we(players, staff) can also do a better job of helping the tackles block and he can do a better job on quicker route calls to alleviate how long they have to pass protect.

He's a dream of a speaker at coach. He always says just what we're thinking and what we want to hear. Some are starting to suspect evil like he's placating fans but I don't see that. It's all true collectively and how any team would respond.

My prob with the OL is they're dawgs that have to hit someone sometimes. He needs to put Chestnut in and let them get rough and not always cute plays that have them pulling or on their heels pass blocking. Linemen have a certain mentality that he has to feed a little bit at least

Looking answer but changes are coming or adjustments are coming so let's see.
As far as how he looked. Not getting the ball, he looked himself and the Jets often doubled him like they thought so too

I dropped him - just didn't have room for him. Will revisit after his bye in week 5 if he isn't picked up
Tough guy to drop. Everyone's rosters are so different. He just has that feel like he could be a decent wr3 for final few months of season.

Week 5 is a crunch for me and what I've set as a "fish or cut bait" point on Hopkins. So far it's feeling a bit too much like a "Julio Jones Farewell Tour" type season to me.

Weird to see drop posts when he does well.

Callahan still hasn't figured out how to get this offense to go except in spots but Hopkins certainly has some vintage moments last week. A WR can't overcome being pressed well any better than he did on that touchdown. That was sheer determination and crazy hand eye coordination

I'm one of three people on the planet that hung in with Hopkins those first two games. Luv u Hop. Loved seeing his snap count increase. Ppr wr3 moving forward.

Do we think Hopkins is the real WR1 in Tennessee? Because it seems the fantasy community still assumes it's Ridley. But wasn't Ridley brought in to be the 2 to Hopkins' 1?

PPR id take Hopkins as the top dog and standard i value Ridley higher.

Yeah but Nuk hasn't been healthy.
He looked real good but only played about half the snaps.
He was supposedly going to be ready week one whereas he about got his feet wet in week one

I benched him just in time for him to explode back onto the scene.

given the low usage I figured he was still huring and figured it would be at least one more week of badness until he was ready to put up numbers. Turns out I was wrong. he was ready this week.

it wasnt that I didnt believe in the guy, it was more a concern about the injury situation. hes still on my roster.

The dream of Ridley ever being a team's WR1 is over and has been over. He does best as a high end WR2 which is nothing wrong with that. Pitt shoulda signed him along with Pickens would've been a great combo. Maybe Steelers trade for D Hop as well. They need a #2.

More so then his stats we need his snap percentage to continue to increase. It's went up every week to last weeks high of 24 snaps for 45%. We need an 80% this week.

Agree. But we also need QB stability and non-volatility in their game. I would like to see some consistency from Levis

My prediction is that he'll find stability with DHop. They seem to have a connection. Levis did well last year with DHop healthy. Might be why we've seen him struggle to start this season.

I got 1 more week of increased productivity and Im willing to consider him in the starting lineup

I'm probably doing it this week. Been forced to dart throw my flex spot with CMC still out. It's between DHop, Quentin Johnston, Jacobi Meyers, or Cam Akers (if both Mixon and Pierce are out). Feeling like DHop might be the play if he's healthy.

An update on D Hop? Is he staying or there is a good chance of him being traded?
He loves Nashville and is really into it. You've gotta check out his social media. It's all wow with players you know commenting on the food or him in a cowboy hat or a fancy suit.

His mom is blind and she's his heart. She loves it too and there's so much heart warming stuff with those two.

The Titans owner loves him. She was not at all happy about AJB being traded and I wouldn't even ask her if it's ok if I were the GM. I'd be worried I'd get fired for asking.

I put him as especially highly doubtful to be traded.
Then he tweeted something recently-
"Patience is wisdom"
"I was raised to be loyal and don't take the easy road"
For me, that's fuel to the he's not being traded thought.

The Titans do not think they're far off. This is not one of their usual bad teams

Mahomes has proven he can make mediocre wrs good so I don't think the Chiefs need a huge splash. Just a little one. Hopkins would be perfect and cheap. Wish I'd read about some interest in this..
Well, now that the Bills have traded for Amari Cooper, it makes perfect sense for the Chiefs to go get him. Comparing him to Amari Cooper, there's a lot of similarities.

Hopkins would also be cheaper.

“I love my life. I love where I am,” Hopkins said. “God put me where I need to be, and he always will. I play football.”

Does he have a no trade clause? If not, then it might not be his choice, right?
Idk
I do remember it talked about but not the result. He probably does. He's a devoted son and will not go anywhere without knowing his mom is near and we'll cared for. It's widely known by teams so theoretically it's possible the Chiefs offer a trade and say they've got xyz setup for his mom too but I doubt it.

He's old and not performing well. Teams don't trade for that-at least not much.

He's a calm chill guy that's fun in interviews. He's a probable HOFer that's very popular. A well known good teammate. Still though- teams trade for production and/or youth.

The problem with all these Titans rumors is the Titans GM would be fired. He took over a playoff team in cap trouble. He cleaned house, fired a coach of the year, and this is where they're at. Schwartz had an office at Titans HQ while working for the league. Then he advised two years ago. He let him walk and kept Bowen. Bowen was fine and is doing well with the Giants but Schwartz is a big deal in Nashville and in the organization. After all that...GMs aren't allowed to clean house again two years later. Maybe if like Callahan had them at 6-1 and he earned something but he's got a bad record and seems like another.

He can trade Hopkins and Ridley and whoever else is rumored but I'd bet $ he's gone at the end of the year then.

He can not trade them and he's still gone. If he can get them in position to have a top draft pick then he might have a chance at staying. Right now, his main issue is not having a serviceable NFL QB. If he can fix that with a good draft position then he might have an argument for keeping his job.

What happened today? Was he injured or just covered very well?

@Bri
He played 44 snaps of 73 or 78.
They made a dumb move by benching the ER that had finally done well and their line stunk immediately and all day.
They started sort of careful with runs and quick passes to the TE since Rudolph was always under pressure.

In time, they opened it up some but drives kept ending or getting ugly due to Ridley. He had an end of half catch and I feel like he missed everything else. Maybe ten targets?

The offense never got truly rolling so Nuk didn't get involved. It was very questionable coaching and play calling also.

That is one crappy draft pick for a player who can still contribute today.
I agree but these drafts are deep now, not like 10yrs ago or so and the 4th rounder is no longer a dart throw.. Gm's are getting starting running backs and defensive starters here.. Crazy!

Certainly a noticeable improvement for Hopkins considering the QB shift, and he should get a fair amount of targets. I'm tempering my expectations though - he's no spring chicken and this is not the same wide open Chiefs offense we used to have.

As a Texans fan, nice to see DHop get a chance at a ring. I don't think he's still quite the same player anymore, but probably has enough juice left to make an impact for half a season.
