WR DeAndre Hopkins, BAL (4 Viewers)

So, this trade hasn't actually happened yet, has it? I mean, I still see reports saying "reportedly trading" not "finalized deal".

Is there a possibility this falls through?

Feels like Ochocinco to NE.
Stop it. Ha ha. Ocho himself said he never fully understood the offense. Bill wasn't willing to compromise. The Chiefs will run 10 yards outs and slants to get him the ball. Barring injury I don't see how he doesn't lead that team in targets to finish year. With Mahomes as the QB that's wr3 as a floor.

Mentioned on fantasy radio today.

Hopkins has 1 yard after catch this year so far.

Not saying that extrapolates.

But interesting enough when you look at what Rice was doing with his YAC in this offense.

Your worst post of all time and you post a lot. Ha ha. I'm assuming it's pending physical? Don't know. I'd cry if this fell through and it's been decades since I cried

Rice is night and day to what Hopkins will bring. Hopkins is a step above Juju right now. He's going to bring a big body threat but he's not taking a 5 yard slant for 50.

Hopkins upside will be touchdowns inside the Redzone particularly the 10-20. I can't tell if he's going to be getting 10 catches a game with the way they play. He's probably more like 8-10 targets a game max. And he'll give you 6-70 and a TD maybe. So mid WR2 possible each week.

:lmao:

The trade seems pretty... But is it?

The GM and Coach have a Tuesday call with the owner every week. Callahan said yes when asked if it's safe to assume it didn't go well this week.

Reporters have long been told this is private and she's done this for many years so there was no "pushing" for more here.

Something maybe to note

"However, the wideout isn't itching to move to a contender.

"I love my life," he said. "I love where I am. God put me where I need to be, and He always will. I play football.""

From NFL com
Maybe nuk is running for office?
Or maybe he didn’t actually want to go at first but when offered a chance to win a 🏆 he was in? Or maybe he’s not happy?

Yeah
He won't go anywhere if his mom isn't well cared for. What exactly that entails, idk.

He has "tied loose ends" in Nashville so that should be enough of an indication he's leaving.

I'll go with 3rd in targets at best. Kelce and Worthy beat him out. I just don't see the outcome matching the hype.

Worthy is going to be an occasional big splash guy, but I don't see him as a big target earner - at least not yet. As for Kelce, whether he's just slowing down or they're saving him for the playoffs, he's not dominating the passing game like he used to. Noah Gray is not too far behind Kelce in snap counts and is also getting involved in the passing game more.

Almost by default Hopkins should be stepping into a good amount of targets.

Worthy? He is not a WR. He is a gadget like Hardman, Toney, etc…

I swear. It was the same energy when Kareem Hunt signed. “I don’t see him beating out Steele.” “ I wouldn’t touch this backfield with a ten foot pole.” “It’s going to be so crowded.” “He’s coming off the couch and looked cooked.”

Here we are again. Making excuses for why Hopkins will be behind Worthy in targets. Seriously? Worthy? So far he has been nothing more than a straight line, gadget player. Now all of a sudden he will be number two behind Kelce? Make that make sense for me.

Noticed this too. Makes you wonder what the route tree was for Hopkins in Tennessee. To be THAT low in YAC, it has to be purposeful. Like "catch the ball and go down" sort of strategy.

He's obviously no spring chicken anymore and he's never been notorious for his YAC ability but I don't think he's any worse than Juju in this offense and we already saw what he can do when given the opportunity.

Hopkins is 100x the player that Juju is. I think it's safe to say that. And if that's the case, Hopkins is likely a WR1 for ROS. Whether that involves lots of YAC opportunities or not, I don't think it matters. He immediately becomes the go-to target underneath which is extremely valuable in this offense.

(Sell High!!) - Someone in your league is willing to overpay. Find them.

Edit to add: not saying he won't have value, so I'm not saying to give him away. But someone in your league is dreaming of those double digit catch days back with the Cards. They will back up the truck for you.
I plan to do exactly this on the 2 dynasty squads I own him that will not be making the playoffs. The question is do you try to move right now or wait a few weeks and hope for some solid production?
If you wait, plan on waiting a couple of weeks for him to get acclimated. On the day of the trade the heat around him was intense. It's kind of cooled, and will continue to cool until he has a day.

It's a gamble, but if he actually does have something left in the tank, you'll end up getting more value for him. But if he reels off a couple of 4 for 40's...

This week shouldn't be an indicator of future games. How much time will he even have to learn?

Often times, the Titans didn't play him on clear rush downs which made many guess he's the prideful type saying his knee isn't hurt but yet it still hurts some. His snap count has gone up a lot but he sat out the last two series due to soreness last game.

I know none of you really care if he's in on running downs but his snap count #s aren't likely to be super high in KC. 60-70 percent would be fine for FF.

Like Amari Cooper in Buffalo, he'll be the X and his job is to win and be a threat outside to limit the defensive looks they'll see. He has to get a few targets a game, minimum, to accomplish that.

Kelce should be able to benefit from defenses having to worry about Nuk

I put my bid on for DHop. Probably way over paid but I didn't want my league mates to get him for free. The only ones who can get him are the ones who have more FAAB than me. And if they pay that, so be it.

IM hurting at wr so i paid. I think hes at least a nice wr2 going forward. could go crazy and be higher. Totally worth the cost

Yea I overpaid. But I got him. Hope he stays healthy. This position for the Chiefs has been cursed this year.

Wondering what a realistic stat line will be for him Sunday. He's probably excited to play for the first time in a couple years but he doesn't know the play book at all.

Hoping for something like 5/65 and maybe a TD.

I'm staying with my Amari Cooper comparison for a week.

People have gone too far with the Reid comments. He's not running short crossers and Reid isn't making plays up for him to outrun DBs.
As Reid also said- we know his career, we know what he can do. You don't trade for him and have him do that. You watch Mahomes love that he can throw it to a covered Hopkins, the my ball mentality comes out, and then you warn Mahomes not to push his luck.

That is wayyyy more realistic than little crossers.
I see Texans fans using a lot of laugh emojis on X and ...people have gone too far with the Reid comments. DeAndre is going to be DeAndre. That's it.

My redraft league uses a rolling waiver list instead of FAAB. Some poor owner dropped him about 4 hours before he was traded. I had the top waiver claim and used it! He will be on my bench this week, but can't wait to see the chemistry he has with Mahomes.

he should benefit.

Nuk will need some time to develop a chemistry with Mahomes, but he can run short or long and get to a pre determined spot on the field and Mahomes can throw a ball that he can jump for. Nuk will get that ball 9 times out of 10 even if fully covered simply because he will out jump whoever is there.

you cannot use a short guy to cover him. has to be a tall guy. and tall guys are not always fast enough.

so there will be opportunities. this week I'd say he will get low yardage, but probably will get a TD.

Amari Cooper type game of 5 for 60 and a TD would not shock anyone. This is not JF throwing him the ball all. Yes, I know JF has better “stats” than Pat this year. Please save that non sense.

Hopkins will be no lower than #2 on the target pecking order. He's averaged just over 9 targets per game over his career, and was just over 8 last year. Even if he dropped down to 6 he'd still be tied with Kelce for the most KC targets.

So we shouldn’t believe Coach Reid’s comments? He’s just blowing smoke up our asses? Is he trying to confuse defenses with the ol’ misdirection? Just trying to get a read on Reid. The only people I tend to believe these days are actual people making decisions. Coaches. Maybe you see it. Is there something extra we’re missing? Got some lineup decisions to make.

I would always defer to the coach.
He's clearly smiling and got a tone in the video so there's two clear points that are different-
1) when he said (which we do) we all know what DeAndre can do
2) when he said he'd replace Rice and juju's role.

I meant to and never got around to watching the whole video.

For me, if he had said "Rice and Juju's spot" it would all fit. Since he chose the word role now we're debating if DeAndre would play differently than he has his whole career?

With semantics I try to go to the source and judge for myself. I haven't found the time. So my default is DeAndre will play as he always has.

Let me twist this-
Henry's coach is all smiley when he says Henry will fill a pass catching third down back role. Do you think he is catching five passes and only five carries?

I did the same. Dropped him for Bateman just hours before he signed with KC. Had not started him all year .
