What would his intention be quoting Adolph Hitler?  Of all the historical figures in modern history his legacy is about as cut and dry as it gets...especially when it comes to what he did to the Jews.

He states his intention in his apology video. 

And yes he's dumb.

Do you believe that Desean Jackson thinks Hitler was a good person?  (answer honestly, not in a devil's advocate way)

Brees is a good example of this.  I don't think he has any ill will or hate towards the black community, nor is he the least bit racist.  He was dumb for saying what he did when he did.  For not thinking it through.  He apologized and that was that.  (Don't @ me by saying how different the statements were.... I get that.  The point was that ignorance and hate are different things.  I don't think anyone actually believes Djax has an actual opinion of loving Hitler. He won't be cut)

 
Not helping the cause, Larry Johnson (former RB) has basically tweeted that Jackson was right, Jews instill fear in "WHITE AMERICA" and the Bible supports what Desean posted. Not a good look here. I think Desean gets cut soon. 

 
The other thing was that DJax actually posted this 3 times. There was the original post. He obviously got blowback for it so he posted he has note hate for anyone including the Jewish Community. Then he posted it again highlighting the part about how Jews are extorting America and planning for world domination. This is hopefully a big learning moment for a lot of people.

Eagles released an official statement regarding DeSean Jackson's anti-Semitic messages on his Instagram.

"We are continuing to evaluate the circumstances and will take appropriate action" the organization announced in a press release issued Tuesday afternoon. The full statement can be viewed in the link below. Jackson also offered a video apology for the quotes, stating he does "not have hatred towards anyone" and "didn’t realize what this passage was saying." This matter is far from resolved.

Why would he quote a Hitler under any condition let alone when it involves Jews?  I did not get the impression that he was quoting Hitler to show he evil.

You're not being a pain. But Desean Jackson was on this team when Riley Cooper did his thing. If you are not familiar - he was caught on video yelling the worst obscenities at a person of color and did not get cut, did not get suspended and was fined.

Fast forward to our year 2020 and you cut Desean Jackson for sharing a post, with no context. First time offender. The media would not let this slide.

Very aware of Riley Cooper and how that was handled (or mishandled)...that being said things are far different now with regard to these issues/situations and I don’t think the comparison is as relevant as it might have been a year ago...IMO, quoting Hitler with regard to Jews  is about as cut and dry as you get...I see zero room for error with regard to this.

its crazy that he actually believes it.  its even crazier that he went ahead and posted it for the whole world to see.

Because he's dumb.  To take a guys quote, who wasn't even quoting Hitler, and was reposting something, as "he was pro-hitler" is a huge stretch.  The guy is dumb for not thinking through his post (like brees was).... but to imply that he loves hitler is a huge stretch.  I doubt he gets cut, nor should  he. (and yes, I hate Hitler since you likely would assume I don't)

To each their own I suppose. Things are far different now is truly the root of my point. Riley for one, would certainly not be on the team if this happened today. But it already happened and there is a precedent, at least within this team, so that holds weight. Whether you agree or not, that is fine. As mentioned, the GM is Jewish, so it seems HE believes there is some room for error.

So just what exactly was he trying to say?  Cuz what he said was 100% anti-Semitic.  So he can then plead ignorance, and it's no big deal?

He explains what he was 'trying' to say in his video.  I don't even think he knows.  I'm not defending the guy's actions, I just truly believe that Desean Jackson isn't Pro-Hitler and Anti-Jew.

How do you know he is dumb?  He went to Cal-Berkley which is considered a very good school so I would assume at some point during his education he learned about Hitler and his atrocities.  Hitler is one of those figures I didn’t think there was a debate as to whether he was hateful or a bigot...his record speaks for itself, especially when it comes to his feelings and actions towards the Jews.  IMO when you quote Hitler (or think you are) you pretty much know the path you are traveling.

 
Eagles decision on whether to keep DeSean Jackson could come down to whether post is a default under his contract. Jackson is guaranteed $4.8M this year in salary and already received a $2M option bonus. Eagles could try to figure out a way out of guaranteed salary first.

Admittedly, I haven't watched the apology, but the guy was tryin to say something and it was anti-Semitic......why would he post that if he didn't believe it?

Anyone can see what he posted was aggressively against Jewish people.  He's a college educated man.......pleading ignorance, or not being the sharpest tool in the shed holds zero water here.

I'm just curious why he would get a pass, especially in the current climate.

He's not getting "a pass".  He's getting roasted for it.  We can get into what kind of 'education' athletes actually get all we want in another thread.  I don't think he knew exactly what the meaning of what he was posting was.  And again, you take the opposite view and think he loves Hitler.... that's your POV.

This is actually a pretty simple matter. A grown man posted a "quote" from Adolf Hitler that was aggressively anti-Semitic. He apologized. Now we wait and see what his employers will choose to do.

I did...and I see the words ”plan for world domination”, “blackmail America” and “extort America”...I also see the words highlighted and the whole thing beginning with “Hitler said”...

This. It seems to me, from a quick google, "cancel culture" is basically the boycotting of someone/product due to some offensive stuff said/shared/etc. And there are "degrees of offense" to be sure, and I'm sure those are also debatable as well. I bet I could make a list of 50+ active NFL players that have done worse things. Not excusing his actions at all. I suspect there is an element of "overreaction/Faux outrage" regarding all of this as well. Well known political trolls are using this moment to try to make the NFL look bad right now...for various reasons, including political.

I'm not saying it was not without reason. But the fallout of what happened to him after all those stories came out was textbook cancel culture.

I agree but I also I think at this point the phrase "cancel culture" is almost always used with a negative connotation to imply an angry mob is ruining lives without merit. 

 
How do you overreact to a intentionally hateful statement though? I mean his comments aren't just ignorant dumb, they're contradictory. I mean the Iggles kinda effed up handling the Riley Cooper situation from what I remember, but don't bungle this. Fine/suspend him actual game checks, get him into racial sensitivity classes, community service, the works. If he actually resists those efforts, cut him.

The thing I don't get (and maybe it'll happen later) is where is the NFLPA statement or league statement?
