WR DeVante Parker, Retired (1 Viewer)

DeVante Parker (hamstring) was limited in Wednesday's practice.

Preston Williams (knee) was also limited. We'd known Parker was dealing with an injury, but we now know what part of the body. At the end of the day, both Parker and Williams should be out there Sunday against the Patriots, though coach Brian Flores has suggested players who have been dealing with injuries this summer could have their snaps dialed back some this month. Parker is expected to see a whole lot of Stephon Gilmore in this one.

Who is the Dolphins' #3?  Looking to add another WR late in a bestball draft in case Parker or Williams go down. Grant?  Ford?  Other?

I’m a little more worried about his match-up than his hamstring, but the combination has me questioning whether to roll him m out as my WR3 in this one.

he went off against Gilmore the last time they faced each other, but he put up a goose egg time before that.

tough week one match up, hamstring or not.

yeah this is a tough one, not sure what i'm gonna do.

DeVante Parker (hamstring) remained "limited" in Thursday's practice.

As did Preston Williams (knee). We know Williams is going to play, and there does not seem to be any real concern with Parker, but it remains something worth monitoring. Parker should be out there, but it will be against all-world Patriots CB Stephon Gilmore, making him a boom/bust WR3 for the opener.

Dolphins WR DeVante Parker (hamstring) will play Week 1 against New England.

Parker had been limited in recent practices with a hamstring injury. It was clear the Dolphins were being cautious with their presume No. 1 wideout, who this week takes on a Patriots defense he shredded for eight watches and 137 yards in Miami's final game of 2019. The Dolphins are big road underdogs this week, so we could see Ryan Fitzpatrick drop back to pass early and often against the Pats. Parker and Preston Williams will have weekly volume-based upside.

Also hurt, apparently.
Dolphins' Mike Gesicki: Sheds injury tag

By RotoWire Staff

17 mins ago1 min read

Gesicki (glute) does not have an injury designation for Sunday's season opener against the Patriots, Josh Tolentino of The Athletic reports.

Gesicki put forth a full practice Friday after having begun the week with two straight limited sessions. He's set to take the field against New England on Sunday and operate as Miami's top receiving tight end, with Durham Smythe primarily mixing in as a blocker.

Yeah, it is difficult to take injury reports without a preseason with anything but a grain of salt. I’ve seen quite a few players shut their injury tag the last 24 hours. Kind of hoping Parker does too. They said he’s playing, but I think he still has the red cross

Fell to me, really did not want him after being burned 2 years ago, but here we are again.. hoping for the best as he is my WR3

As of now he’s in my lineup.

i may chicken out and put in Crowder before kickoff.
He was a full participant in practice today, I think you're safe.

I'm still kicking myself over last year when Godwin was doubtful all week, and then they declared him a go an hour before game time, and I cautiously didn't play him, and he went off for 39 points. That taught me.

more worried about Gilmore in coverage, but he torched him last time, so...

I feel that. Been there many times. I drafted Parker as my WR3, so imma start him as such.

I might remind folks that a lot of Patriots took the year off due to CV-19, I don't know every name but their defense has taken a hit plus key guys left like the LB who signed with Miami etc...don't think this will look like a typical Mia/NE game, Phins even being hyped as potential playoff team in some circles...I'm not typing that but others like Peter King have gotten their hands on some really good cheeba.

That said, I wouldn't be so quick to write off Parker this weekend.

-Miami has a revamped Secondary and they have potential bookend Corners even though Howard is nursing an injury, also drafted a rookie that is the starting Nickel DB, they have improved their defense in the front 7, it's possible Miami gets the ball in decent starting field position.

-Fitzmagic is well schooled on the Patriots at this point logging Starts for not one, not two but all Three AFC East rivals NYJ, Buf, Mia...he has some understanding of how the Patriots will attack him.

Tighten up your jackets boys and batten down the hatches, rough waters ahead but you got a boat strong enough to navigate thru some of it. Don't be afraid of the past, live in the now.

5/75/TD

4/47 in one half, think most will take that happily and hope for some more as they are trailing 7-3/ Miami offense in general pretty awful, OL cannot run block at all, that's going to be a problem all season or at least for several more weeks/months.

I’m not seeing several weeks anywhere. What was the source of that?
Hamstring injuries are ones that require rest to recover from and the time frame for that varies a lot. Some players come back from them in a week or so and are fine. Others play through it but not as well, especially WRs. Some of these guys seem to perpetually have these kinds of injuries.

Parker has a history of being dehydrated and not taking good care of his health. He has had injuries like this that have caused him to miss multiple games before. Its part of why it took so long for Parker to produce good numbers.

MoP is a life long Dolphins fan and he is likely talking about these common knowledge things rather than anything specific about Parker at this point in time.

Parker was 4 targets 4 receptions 47 yards on  23 offensive snaps 37% before leaving the game. Stands to reason if he would have been healthy throughout he may have doubled that total.

Not sure I should change the thread title or not. He was beating Gillmore again.

Yeah, but they can also be precautionary exit if they tighten up.

He didn’t go to the locker room & I haven’t seen any reports that he’s missing any time. Though they’d be smart to hold him out at least a week.

Im aware that in general they can be difficult,  but they can also be not difficult. As a Parker owner I just wanna make sure I didn’t miss an actual report saying he’s out multiple weeks as we’ve seen with Thomas and Bell.

Yeah the coaches wont report anything until they have to. So its going to be something to watch out for all week.

Start your contingency planning based on Parker missing a game or more to be proactive.

That’s the plan. I’m lucky i have Crowder. The jets suck but he’s a POR vacuum for targets.

Looks like he’s ok. tweaked it - left for precautionary reasons. No multi-week absence. Could play this week.

DeVante Parker WR | MIA

Dolphins' DeVante Parker: Avoids major setback

(54 mins ago) Parker (hamstring) avoided a major setback and could play in Sunday's game versus the Bills, Adam H. Beasley of the Miami Herald reports.

Parker aggravated an existing hamstring injury during the season opener against the Patriots, and he was initially slated to miss some time. However, the 27-year-old receiver is apparantely doing better than expected. The team's top priority is likely to ensure this injury doesn't linger all season, so he'll be closely monitored during the upcoming practice week. We should have a better grasp on Parker's status when the Dolphins release their official practice report Wednesday.

If he plays, he’s in my lineup. But not because I want to, because I have to.
Depends who I get off the wire, but I feel this. If I miss all 3 of Paris Campbell, MVS & Mike Williams, I’m in the same boat. but that also all depends on Miles Sanders status.

Aren’t early season injuries fun? :sadbanana:

The Miami Herald reports DeVante Parker (hamstring) has a “real chance” to play in Week 2 against Buffalo.

Parker missed the second half of Week 1 after aggravating his hamstring injury. He “avoided a major setback” and the Dolphins hope he won’t miss time. Parker is day to day and may not practice much. He looks unlikely to see his regular snaps if he plays.

He's my #1 WR, so I'm pleased by the news, but with Will Fuller's play last week he's on my bench for now.  Can't see him going off against Buffalo (I think they eat FitzMagic for dinner behind that leaky O-line) but stranger things have happened.

Dolphins WR DeVante Parker was limited in practice Thursday.

It's the second straight day of a limited session for Parker, who tweaked his injured hamstring in Week 1 against the Patriots. Parker and Preston Williams could be in for significant target volume this week against the Bills, who come in as six-point favorites. Fantasy managers should monitor Parker's availability. He very well could be on a script snap count if he's able to go against Buffalo.
