WR Gabriel Davis, BUF (2 Viewers)

not necessarily the best analogy - there may not have been other options than Gabe whereas you can always stand in blackjack. nobody is making you hit whereas the FF system does require you to start someone. there is literally mathematically 0 risk if the only possible alternative is to start nobody and take a 0 anyway.

True. The analogy wasn't perfect. I was just giving him stuff about it.

Price check on Davis now in dynasty? I see someone people saying they just dropped him, but I think he is worth more than a 3rd which is the line I start dropping people. It seems the mighty has fallen....or the hype has really died down since his 4 TD playoff game. I still think I am interested for a 3rd now, but would struggle to give up a 2nd at this point.

I just gave (full ppr) Gabe, Jaleel McLaughlin, and a mid/late 2nd for Dionte Johnson.

Feel like I’ve raised the floor of my teams scoring.
I love that price for Di Johnson. But I am a big fan of his
DJ went 1 - 17

:lmao: <-- at myself. Never change Fantasy Football, never change

Gabe went 2 for 56 so not great either, but certainly a fair score for him by comparison.

He can be an unpredictable, if not unreliable pass catcher, with a couple of "clanks," one of which resulted in an interception. I believe FBG Matt Waldman has written more than once about how the poor positioning of Davis' hands contributes to his spotty results.

If you knew beforehand Gabe was gonna lead the Bills in receiving on MNF vs the Broncos in Buffalo you'd be clamoring to get him in your lineup.

If you told me Davis was the leading receiver for the Bills Monday, I would have liked my chances. What is going on there? Is Allen broken? Poor scheming?

LOL the consummate Gabe Davis experience today

67 snaps (led all Bills RB/WR/TE)
36 routes run (led all Bills RB/WR/TE)
0 targets

I cannot stress enough how good it felt when I dropped him earlier this season. Haven’t missed him. Good luck if any of you are still brave enough to put him in your lineups.
I sat Gabe for the new better version, Ridley!!

Allen is only allowed to throw to Diggs

Earlier today I was telling someone who was on my FF team and when I saw the name Davis I did a complete blank on who he was. Stephan kept coming to mind but I knew he'd retired. I literally had to google NFL Davis to remember who the heck he was. Worse yet, he's started for me every week. Probably forgot him because every other player I've rostered has missed time or had a season ender so he's just stayed in my lineup producing jack.

He’s only ever been my last flex player on two dynasty leagues. I could take the down weeks for the explosions but multiple goose eggs is just taking the piss. Turn the light off

How does a teams WR two get Zero catches? Even Kararius Toney gets one catch a week and another run for negative yards.
Honestly believe it was a "coaching opportunity" and that the coach in question listened to the sports writers criticism of him benching Cook for the fumble but not Davis for the pass through the wickets that was picked.

It's just as dumb as benching Cook, and IMO looks even worse for letting the media bully him like that.

We'll see for sure if Davis is involved this week. He is their best blocker of all their skill positions - it's even weirder considering his huge game a few weeks ago when he was targeted and productive.

Just a weirdly coached team.

Again - I'm speculating. But there was a *lot* of noise about the Cook benching, and nearly everyone opining on it brought up Davis' bad play that allowed the int without punishment.

Cook should not have been punished since it was his first fumble and kind of an odd play where he landed on a pile of players and wasn't down and created an opportunity for the DB to make a good play and rip the ball out. Also don't think Davis should have been punished but the criticism for why Cook was and not Davis was valid.

Agree, strange coaching. Cook has delivered on his opportunity this year, but they seem intent on limiting him regardless. The red zone usage is crazy bad coaching. If you want to pull him right around the goal line, OK, but they pull him automatically when they get to the 20. Finally left him in last week and he got the receiving TD. More perplexing since Murray is the red zone option and he's 33 and on the downside of his career.

The Bills put too much stock in whether they like a guy. They LOVE Davis. Family guy. Religious. Works his tail off.

But unfortunately he is what he is. A mid round draft flyer who isn’t suitable to play WR2 in the NFL.

I don’t know if the Bills made him an offer but I think his stock dropped a lot this season (NFL salary not fantasy). I hope the Bills don’t over pay for him.

I was high on him but turns out that average or even below average WRs can have great games in a good offence with top QB.

Davis was NOT benched against the Jets. He ran a route on 100% of drop backs. He just wasn't targeted.

I never said he was benched. You can turn off the caps lock.

He wasn’t targeted at all. He was blocking all night.

I think that was a message.

LOVE this answer for multiple reasons.

"Gabe Davis had zero catches in the game but in my mind, he was the player of the game... often times we see stats and it doesn't paint the whole picture of how the game is being played."

-#Bills interim OC Joe Brady
I only wish I got FF points for blocking.i lost my game by 10.1

Davis’ 0 was brutal.
Man, if we got FF points for blocking, Gronk would have been the biggest positional advantage in FF history.

Fair point. Hines Ward, too.

It will be just like Gabe to go off Sunday on a lot of benches
It’s a great matchup, for sure could happen. Not very confident in him though
Great matchup? Philly will have like 40 minutes time of possession with 5 possessions
The one thing that’s been certain this year has been uncertainty.

As soon as I feel like it’s time to crown a team, they go out and get whooped by a team I believed was significantly lesser.

I wouldn’t be at all surprised if that happened here.

I also wouldn’t be surprised if the Eagles handled the Bills.

I’m tempted to swap him in for Bateman.

That this is even a choice tells you how bad my injury luck has been in one league.
I would do that and feel great about it.
For reals. If there’s ever going to be a Gabe Davis blow up game .. its going to be this week.

Focus will be on Diggs.

When you look at both Bateman and Davis .. who’s got the higher upside?

Philly has issues in their secondary and gives up lots of fantasy points to WRs. The numbers don’t lie, assuming you pay attention to numbers 🤷‍♂️
He delivered

Started him in 1 league. Wish I’d started him in both leagues I have him.

Happy fantasy owners got a great week out of him. By my eyes, he also lost them he game in OT screwing up that route. I don't think that gets forgotten by Allen or the staff moving forward.

It wasn't gabes fault or Allen's

It was an option route the eagles brought pressure and Allen had to throw the ball before Gabe chose a side

Allen guessed right Gabe went left

If he had another second he would have been able to see what way Gabe was going

The defender had inside leverage even though he was trailing, I think the error was on Allen as Gabe chose the easier play to go outside.
Yeah and either way it wasn’t some egregious mistake where they’ll punish him like the previous poster insinuated. Especially considering the guy got a game ball last week literally just for his blocking

Problem with Gabe is he’s just inconsistent and the floor is zero but he does pop sometimes when their offense scores points

It was bang bang, the play then Jason Garrett's assessment. But he felt that given that Philly was showing blitz & brought it, Davis should or could've turned his eyes back around sooner. Would've had to make an adjustment, so if this & that, I suppose it would've given them a better chance.

yes and it was also the default route. no change was necessary by either player if Allen had thrown the route. I get that it's easier said than done and I agree with the take that with the all out pressure he should have looked back right away. if so he might not have won, though? IDK.

all I know is that I very begrudgingly started him in one league where I had been trying unsuccessfully all week to trade for another WR to start this week and needed this victory. I was actually torn between Q Johnston, Guyton and Gabe and somehow put Gabe in at the last minute.

glad I didn't move for Godwin like I tried to.

You could see Davis and Diggs talking on the sidelines after.

Diggs asked him something like "Why did you do what you did?"

Davis, with his back to the camera, explained himself and Diggs gave him a look like "Yeah, that was the right choice, you read it right, a tough decision, heat of the moment, etc."
