WR Jalen Coker, CAR (6 Viewers)

That sucks for him. He seems like a hard worker and his talent always pops when he's on the field. FWIW Renfrow actually looked good this preseason and in camp. He's worth a look in deep PPR leagues.

Bump Sanders. Leggette and TMac get more too.
I like the Sanders call cause Leggette sucks.
I dont think Leggete sucks. He was mis-used last year. If he plays the Z, he can shine with Coker gone
His yprr is 1.1 and got worse as the season progressed despite entering the league old for a rookie. Draft capital is the only reason Coker didn't pass him before this summer. This is the risk ran when drafting a wide receiver that didn't break out until they were almost 23 years old

… those stats were produced last year. Agreed? He was out of position.

I’m a Coker head guy. But, I’m not zoomed enough to not understand that leggette can be productive at the Z / Slot

Even if your theory is sound, good wr's don't produce metrics among the lowest in the game in the last decade because he's playing a different wr position. He had the lowest on-target 10+ yards down field drop rate in the league, one of which was a beautiful over the shoulder throw from Bryce that a Saints CB ripped out of his hands for an interception and another was a dropped potential GW TD. Switching positions doesn't change that.

Is he going to play the Z?

I probably won't be able to hold him for 6+ wks. Only have 14 roster spots. Looking at shiny new toys ie. Thornton, Franklin

Coker still worth a stash on I.R.? Will he take Renfro's job when he returns?
Yes - Renfrow's net 15 targets and only turned them into 59 yards (2 scores though). This will be Coker's role - he has more upside and they need to see their youth anyway. Tet is an answer. Sanders might be. Legette is not. And they need to find out about Coker.

I'm likely getting him and Rice back for Week 6. That will be a welcome sight. Nabers went down and Mooney and McLaurin have not been models of health.

Anything to see here? Panthers invested in Tet and they are a bottom 5ish passing offense in both yards and yards/att. Coker had 1 game last year with over 4 recs. in the 11 games he played.

He was slated to start in the slot, which has been a very valuable spot for Bryce - when there’s a competent player there.

If anything, he is the key to this passing offense opening up imo.

They also manufacture touches for him. Panthers seem to be in negative game scripts all the time so they're going to be passing.

Stashing as a Tetairoa handcuff on a 24-man dyno. Open to the possibility that he's FLEX viable playing with him. More than anything, I'm hoping he helps Bryce get back to form.

I picked him up a few weeks ago and stashed him, but I don’t have any expectations for him more than a flex player and bye week filler. The biggest winner here is Bryce Young.

Surprised he's not active this week. I figured 3 straight full practices would be good enough. Hopefully he's looking good and they're just being cautious.

I’d prefer him to sit another week. Quad injuries are no joke - literally the biggest muscle in the leg.

I do have high hopes for Coker this year. That slot role is super valuable in that Panthers “offense” … I do believe he's going to be an incredible asset going forward, PPR of course

Apparently will be activated for week 7. What do we expect against a decent Jets defense? Will he be full go or eased in?
Great questions and I'll jump in on this one

-I have him on almost every roster sitting on my bench, felt the upside of the Carolina Slot position in their offense was valuable enough based on what Coker did down the stretch last year
With Tet McM drawing the attention of most of the better DBs, Coker gets a chance to work his routes on other DBs

Im totally biased since I have a lot of shares but he fits the mold of a lottery ticket that suddenly appears around mid season
Young Qb that is growing and could use more help at Receiver, enter Coker. 6-2/215, he's a good size WR vs other people are circling Washington in Miami if Waddle is traded, he's 5-8, no way he can take on the role of a WR1 and Coker doesn't need to be a WR1, just a decent WR2/3 that can work the slot

Coker has had injury issues so far, he was just starting to get rolling as a rookie and then missed another 3 games where he was inactive
That should have his game logs from last year if anyone wants to peek, it's not going to floor you but you can see the potential

Sauce Gardner is an excellent CB, and he will most likely shadow Tet. The rest of their CBs are trash. So secondary servers can do well against the Jets.

But the Panthers have to be excited about their ground game, plus the Jets offense is a mess, suggesting the Panthers won't be playing from behind, so the Panthers offense could go conservative.

I was puzzled he wasn't activated last week, after 3 straight full practices. I don't know if that's because he didn't look that great last week, or they were extra cautious, or what. But a typical first week of practice for an IR guy, if it goes LP, LP, FP - then he's usually active that weekend. Going FP, FP, FP, then staying inactive - that is very unusual IMO.

I'm itching to start him, but of all the guys I follow for rankings, not one of them ranks him in their top 50 this week. So there is risk. But if I leave him in the IR spot and he goes off anyway, I will have regrets.

as someone who has him everywhere, my really only decisions are to start him or Burden. Would love for him to play that Thielen role from last year. My jets suck so I really want to play him.

The Panthers under this staff have been conservative with players returning back from injury.

Man, I lost Nabers and have been without Mooney and McLaurin pretty much all year, but I get Coker and Rice back and suddenly my team feels viable again. Let’s get Jalen in the big slot and pepper him with targets. Wheels up for the UDFA.

The rest of their CBs are trash

Jets fan here. Stephens is not good. Carter, the normal slot corner/nickel is also bad. But we acquired Brownlee from TN and by all accounts he's really good. So Coker likely gets him. Might be tougher than you think.

Didn’t ask me but to answer: by just living my life and not taking him out of it. That’s how I do it.

Yahoo still lists him as being on IR.

So does sleeper but that will change by game time.

If memory serves, at least on Yahoo, as long as you don't try to make any roster moves and leave said player in the IR spot, it will allow that player to remain even as they play that week. He's in my IR spot and still listed as designated to return from IR (IR-R), and I don't plan to start him or make roster moves, so I will let you know when Yahoo finally "forces" me to move him out of the IR spot.

Only forced if you go to make a transaction with Yahoo, otherwise they can just sit in IR. That is how our league is setup anyway.

It's ESPN. I don't have to move anybody out of IR once their week starts if they are already on IR. But if they no longer have a Q or better designation, then I can't make any roster moves like a waiver claim or trade. I can shuffle my active player roster.
