WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba, SEA (1 Viewer)

Lockett at 31 has already missed time this offseason. Tidbits from his production last year:

Lowest yards per reception in the last three years.

Lowest touchdown mark in the last seven years

Longest catch of the year was the lowest in his career.

Derek Brown
Just a reminder...

Shane Waldron turned Jaxon Smith-Njigba into Malachi Corley last year...

52.3% of his target volume were SCREENS

He was 7th in screen targets last year.

Ryan Grubb will do better. JSN 🚀🚀

Was it obvious that Lockett’s arm is in a sling and he’s hurt at the moment? I would have taken this player possibly if I knew that before

Some very promising signs on #Seahawks WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba:

1. Has run 69 routes on 76 Geno dropbacks this season. That's more than Tyler Lockett (62).

2. Still getting a lot of short-area targets, but now mixing in deeper routes. Average depth of target yesterday was 10.6 yards. In 2023 he topped a 10-yard aDOT just four times.

3. Shane Fraudron is no longer his coach.

4. Here are all 16(!!!) of JSN's targets yesterday.

Targets (target share)

Week 1: 2 (8%)
Week 2: 16 (37%)
Week 3: 3 (9%)

You don't suppose this guy is boom-or-bust, do you?

Watched him carefully last night. Could have had a much bigger night, but Geno missed him on a couple. Targets were there (9) and even was targeted in the endzone.

All that said, I don't think a 2nd year breakout is coming. He kinda is what he is. Not sure he's as athletic as everyone thought he'd be.

He's my #5 WR and his days could be numbered if I hit a bye week crunch.

Hate to say it but he just might not be all that good
I’m starting to think that too, and I’m a huge fan and dynasty owner.
In fact, I’m wondering if any of these Ohio state WRs are what we thought they were (Olave, Wilson, JSN, Harrison). I know it’s early still for all of them really, but none are having the impact we thought they would.

Double figures in ppr scoring in 4 of 7 games, with one of those a 23 point effort.
I am not writing him off totally but I am ready to say he's not what he was advertised to be. I was in on him too as an Amon Ra type but the doubts are mounting.
I am hanging on in dynasty. Could get JMason for him (I own CMC) but have passed to this point.

Mason for JSN is too much of a desperation move but that tells me JSN drafetrs are getting very itchy

Draft LSU receivers not OSU. I have 2 OSU and had chance at Nabers and regretting it big time.

Their college has nothing to do with it, unless one of them is Slippery Rock. Terrace Marshall says hello. Before that DJ Chark and Dwayne Bowe. I will say LSU is on a roll lately. OSU hasn’t exactly been shut out and this kid Jeremiah Smith may be special.

Funny my first thought to that comment was Marshall. I do think college matters but it's to a much much smaller degree. Also Jefferson and Chase were fortunate enough to get Cousins and Burrow. What would Wilson look like in a good in a good situation?

Good for WR 28 in my league.
He's WR 37 in my 0.5 PPR league. Fits the bill for a PPR scam player so far this season.
Hate ppr leagues.
You must still be a 1990s and early 2000s guy.
The music was so good :hifive:

That is generation dependent.

When I'm not sure who to believe, I check pff. JSN is at 62.1, Lockett at 74.2. PFF also says this:

>>Seattle’s wide receivers are struggling against zone: Tyler Lockett and Jaxon Smith-Njigba have been inefficient against zone coverages and draw a difficult matchup this week against Buffalo.<<

Using my eyes, I see JSN as a good route runner, but not much down field separation. If he's not good vs zone coverage, I'll start Lockett over some of my other choices.

The matchup is there for JSN.

BUF secondary is much better at defending the perimeter and gives up quite a bit to slot WRs.

Weather going to be iffy too. Would favor shorter passing game.

It's do or die for JSN. If he can't produce here, he's pretty much dropable.

Not really. More "good taste" dependent :shades::pickle:

Good taste is also generation dependent. Depends who you ask. Of course you know this already.

Another week as the lead WR with Metcalf out. Last week was fine in PPR, but we are all still waiting for that true breakout game. Will this week be the one?

Been pretty disappointed with him this year. 1 TD? Has 5 tds for his career. Some guys just can find the end zone while some guys just can't. Hopefully he hits paydirt once this weekend.

Be cool to see him with a QB who isn't Geno

Remember when we used to have the “3rd year breakout” WR.

We have been spoiled.

But I always still give guys 3 years before I decide to possibly cut bait.

Part of the process being a Dynasty league owner. Which guys should I have some patience with.

Jax is a guy I would.

Feels like we don't hear about that 3rd year break out as much because those guys are simply breaking out year 1 or year 2 now. This guy just hasn't been a big part of the offense. Has the potential to be that guy.

Like I said we have been spoiled. But he is a good candidate for a third year breakout.

Welp, he has another opportunity this week.

Not only is DK out, but so is Fant who gobbles up some of the short yardage throws.

Did have 12.9 points last week. A bit meh of course, and never a ceiling game.

Surprised to see 3 of 4 FBGs projection guys having him at 14+ PPR points. I do believe the LAR are pretty tight against the slot.

I honestly don't want to consider him. Have C. Hubbard locked and loaded right now.

His QB is a good passer. But like other good QBs with a bad oline, it's hard to make completions when you're running for your life - thinking of Caleb and CJ in many games this year.

He doesn't look explosive at the NFL level and had lots of drops last year. He'll need volume in order to have a good game. The Rams are 13th OVP, so this may not be the game.
