WR Jaylen Waddle, MIA (1 Viewer)

If Tua is back in 2 weeks, I might be more inclined to get Waddle now for cheap. IDK the Tua case that well, is he coming back? Last I heard he had no issues since his collision with Hamlin. Will he at least wear the Guardian helmet?

I tried to scoop up Hill this week and it makes sense to make an offer to a Waddle owner with a losing record in need of WR help. Waddle on the bye this week and it's the perfect time to take advantage....likely the cheapest you'll get him.

I was offered Waddle for Luke McCaffrey and a 2025 1st but quickly rejected. Waddle has been a big disappointment IMO and I don't see it getting any better until they find a long term replacement for Tua.

Reasonable price for a very talented receiver in his prime, depending on roster I would certainly consider. There are concerns, but this the reasonable price. I tend to side with talent and would probably take that deal unless my 25 1st looks like it has a shot at a top 3 pick.

Is he hurt?
He is now. Nice jinx!

An AWFUL season continues. Smh
My bad. Was looking at stats to see OBJ caught a pass today. Saw that OBJ had 3 catches and noticed Waddle did not even have a target. That’s why I asked. Did not intent to jinx it for anyone.
I couldn't believe the stat box when I checked. I was with you in thinking he got hurt or something. Sad times for us Waddle owners

Edit - Double jinx reverse!

Came in here to have a proper moan about him then a short TD might seriously help my re-draft team this week.

Still… what the hell is going on here ? Not a single target even until late in the 4th quarter. It just doesn’t make any sense

Is this guy droppable for someone like Parker Washington (tbd after today's game) or a backup/handcuff RB at this point of the season?? Serious question.

Highest priced decoy in the NFL and it's not really close. I'm still not sure why the Dolphins paid Hill and Waddle. DUMB
Coaching in the NFL is horrible.
GMs are worse. And scouting may be the worst of all.

Still, Waddle is on your roster. He's elite. Find a way to use him. Dolphins have $110M a year tied up between Tua, Hill and Waddle. Mind-blowing stuff! And you have OBJ, a few plus young WRs, Mostert, Achane, Wright, and more and you find a way to suck on offense? How is McDaniel considered an offensive guru?

This team should look like the greatest show on turf. And that brings me to ownership. If had a team built on speed, wouldn't you clean up one of the sloppiest/slowest fields in the NFL? So much stupidity in Miami. The wheels are going to come off here worse than almost anything we've seen.

Waddle has been an afterthought in this offense since last year. He gets open down the field, but Tua doesn't have the time to get to that read ever. Why McDaniel doesn't design more plays to get in his hands near the line of scrimmage (he was used this way as a rookie) is anyone's guess. He doesn't seem like a good coach and defensive coaches are all over his gameplans.

Pretty insane after they just gave him that new contract.

Seems like Achane has taken that primary role of when Tua dumps the ball off near the line of scrimmage.

No.
Maybe not droppable. Although, I do dig the sabotage drop in the right situations (not for Parker Washington).

But we all know exactly how this will go.

Waddle has one big game left. He's going to do it on your bench because there's no way to trust him right now without any evidence that he's an important part of the offense.
And then you get suckered into putting him back in your lineup the next week, which obviously goes poorly.

You realize what you didn’t list as having talent? The offensive line.

Excuses. Good coaches get it done regardless of the challenges they face. Good coaches adapt to the personnel they have, instead of trying to make their system work come hell or high water. When Tua went down, we found out just how inept this coaching staff really is.

McDaniel has been unable to adjust to the shell coverage teams are using to take away the deep pass. What's worse is he gives off a vibe like he's not even trying. Maybe I'm wrong on that and he's up all night stressing and scheming but he and his two main WR's signed extensions this off-season and everyone seems pretty content living that good Miami life. Not getting any sense of urgency at all from this group. Coach can't seem to make adjustments, WR's don't even seem to care if they don't get the ball. Life is all good.

It is odd because with Hill/Waddles skillset you can use them really all over the field (short/intermediate/deep) and have success. I am not sure what McDaniel is doing, but is sure not being creative in trying to get your playmakers the ball.

I get the same vibe

You gotta understand that Tua is a one read QB. Primary read not there...dump off to safety valve.

I have stated this several times in other "Dolphin" threads. I got to witness what is going on at the Cardinals game.....Waddle was running free everywhere.....did not matter. Tua looks to Hill and will try to either force it in to him or dump it off. Waddle was visibly frustrated all day for not getting enough looks.

This is a targeting problem and a QB who simply does not go to his 2nd and third reads that often...and since his 3rd concussion....has a super quick trigger to simply get it out immediately.

Waddle is not some Stud....but he is a lot better than this.

Has that always been the case or has Tua become a little more quick triggered since the last concussion?

It's even more so now. He is not looking downfield that much...literally everything save for the occasional attempted Hill deep ball is dink and dump.

We are a pop gun offense for the most part.

But we looked very good yesterday in the running game and I was stunned we did not play action much at all because it was there for the taking.

Play calling is subpar. Coaching is really subpar.

Frustrating as a fan I imagine as you seemingly have all the pieces in place for a dominant offense.

I didn't get this feeling before this year...or is this something new, possibly due to concussions (his choice or coaches' choices)?

Yeah we do. Except competent pass protection and competent play calling. McDaniel stinks. He is in way over his head.

Tua is what he is. Highly accurate. But a average to below average NFL arm (can't make every throw...nope) entirely immobile and a piece of glass.

20/20 hindsight….

Trading the 1.5 for Waddle in the off-season was generally seen as a good move for me.

Looking back and seeing the other team draft Brian Thomas Jr at the 1.5….sick to my stomach.

Don’t prove me wrong, Waddle! Get it together!

Thinking of dropping Waddle in a short-bench league for D. Douglas, Q. Johnston, Lockett, McMillan, just someone with life that I can play during J. Reed's bye this week. Sucks, I really like the guy and think he's a great receiver, but he's just not playable (in my mind).

Thoughts, or would you just play Waddle (I also have Hopkins, his playability next week is TBD based on tonight).

its not Waddles fault Tua got a concussion. and that is likely 80% of the problem. I drafted him in one of my leagues (ignoring my own advice to avoid the miami offense due to Tuas concussion issues) and I think its safe to say if Tua was healthy all year long we would be having a completely different conversation about this

Tua is just back from injury. I think it would be a shame to hold waddle for the whole time and then dump him when Tua gets back only to watch him blow up on someone elses roster. at this point if you're in for a dime, you're in for a dollar. might as well hold and see if you get better results now that Tua is in the house.

Yeah... I got a few comments last year saying this guy was on my undraftable list. He is definitely not going to live up to where he was drafted in most leagues. Again.

anyone have the gonads to play him this week? not a bad matchup and have a lot of guys on bye so kinda desperate, but not sure i can do it.
