WR Josh Gordon, KC (6 Viewers)

Might start Boykins over him in 1 league. That's my only discrepancy out of every league I own him.

He's starting in every other one.

I think this is a bad week to start him. Jordan Cameron, despite getting less fanfare overall from NFL fans, is still the #1 option on that team, and I say that as a Gordon owner who doesn't have Cameron (well, except a public league I don't really pay much attention to =) ). I don't trust Jason Campbell to produce enough yardage and TDs for both him and Cameron to have a fantasy relevant day. He's going to get smothered vs KC. I'd try to start anyone else over him as long as it's a reasonable matchup.

Yes, because all of these other posts aren't talking about whether he's a good start over other guys....Shark Pool Life Guards strike again!

Exactly, I don't have anyone better on my bench. I am not an "always play your studs" person, but in this case, knowing that several receivers have played very well against them, I am not scared of the matchup...I think this game might be more wide open than expected, 2 teams not familiar with each other (unless you count a slight overlap of Turner and Reid in 2000 I think?
I NEVER apply this to stud WR's. No matter what I play them and I think thats the case here with Gordon.

Did anyone here see campbell's last real start in the NFL? When he was w/ CHI. it was absolutely brutal.

i'm a browns fan, and benching gordon for vjax, decker, and boykin. maybe he sneaks in a long ball for a td, but i think campbell will get sacked about 10x and when not sacked, he'll be checking everything down. hope i'm wrong and CLE looks good in this matchup, but it doesn't look good.

This is kind of the opposite of an average WR playing with a great QB (great opportunity) - a great WR playing with an awful QB can be one of the most frustrating things in FF.

How did Brandon Marshall do with Jason Campbell?

Rotoworld:

Browns OC Norval Turner believes trade rumors could be affecting Josh Gordon's play.
"I would hope not, but I’m realistic to know that it does," Turner said Thursday. "He’s a young guy. He’s not very experienced. He wasn’t the go-to guy as a young player, so this is all a new thing for him. I think when you add those things to it, it can affect him. Obviously, we’re doing our best to focus and let him understand that he’s our guy, and we want him to be as good as he can get." Gordon is coming off his first dud of the season, but Brandon Weeden's play was the culprit. The Browns' switch to Jason Campbell has fantasy owners nervous, but averaging 16.7 yards per catch and 90 yards per game, Gordon is still very much a WR2.

So he's playing poorly in order lower the trading price and improve his chances of getting out of Cleveland?

He's dogging it lately because he has poor character and focus and lost faith in Weeden. If he doesn't click early with Campbell, this weekend and going forward could be really ugly unless he's shipped before Tuesday. Problem is his doggy tape isn't helping stoke negotiations.

Anyone selling Josh Gordon?
:hey:

Thought his value was only going down: obvious dogging last week, ugly QB situation getting worse, Chiefs on tap, and the possibility of him being traded gone after Tuesday. This seemed like the time to get the most value for him, so I sent him packing.

How did Brandon Marshall do with Jason Campbell?
Campbell played a little over half a game against Houston, and Marshall ended up with 8 receptions for 107 yards. Campbell was the starter in the following game against San Francisco, and Marshall had two receptions for 21 yards plus a touchdown.

This is actually somewhat encouraging thanks

Thank you, sir.

I'm going to roll with Gordon as my flex this week. I'm looking at Campbell as an upgrade over Weeden at this point; you could just tell that the entire offense had lost all confidence in their QB last week.

I'm hoping that Campbell is smart enough to get Gordon some looks early in the game. He seems like the type of WR that can start to lose focus if things aren't going his way. Campbell has been around long enough to know that this could be his last look at his NFL career and he should use his best players. If the Browns want to have any success on offense, it will be thru Gordon & Cameron.

Brandon Flowers could be a step slow coming back from his knee injury. All it takes is one big TD in my league and I'll be set at FLEX. Gordon definitely has the size advantage in that matchup

Campbell was brutal last year:

campbell will be "okay." not great, but decent enough to still get the ball to jgordon. The bigger, and more important question, is whether is jgordon will actually come to play instead of screwing around like last week. Go get the ball, kid. Who cares who is throwing it to you, be a professional.

Brutal against HOU and SF?

He still threw 2 TD's in 50 pass attempts though.

Anyone else nervous regarding the trade rumors surrounding Gordon?

I imagine it is a long shot, but is there a chance they work out a trade and he is a late scratch. The trade deadline is Tuesday I believe.

This is what happens when you NEGLECT FACT, try to get cute, and bench your studs...

Hate to say I told ya so.... but, ya

Especially a guy like Gordon. He only needs 1 play to have a good week and he proved it this week. Glad I stuck with him

..... but it's the vaunted KC defense!!!!!!

The KC defense that can't stop #1 WR's

I feel no pity for anyone who benched him. Dumb move

Campbell looks fine, which is the biggest takeaway here.

If he can be poised and effective in one of the toughest places to play, that's great news for Gordon moving forward.

FACTS pointed to a big day against the Packers last week too, but he laid a turd. Someone following that same line of thought to not bench him last week would have been wrong. Talent doesn't always win out, and there were certainly enough factors going against him this week to be gunshy again. Talent came out ahead this week, unlike last week, and it could have gone either way. That's why this is a game of chance.

Anyone can be right after the fact.

Hopefully he'll have more of these games than last week's games going forward, but obviously from last week's results, nothing is ever a guarantee.

Benched him, too. Most advice recommended that was the safe option. At least I have him in a keeper league, so I can continue making the wrong decision for years to come....

Calvin put up a few stinkers too. So has Dez... Demariyus... etc etc

what's you point?

you benched a stud and got burned.

end of story

Me? No. You're mistaken. *I* wasn't going to play him over AJ or Welker anyway. I just wanted to point out the flaw in your FACTS that supposedly are infallible.

The high horse is a very easy ride when you actually see how things have already played out.

You said it yourself...even studs have bad days. I don't see Gordon quite at that level yet. Part of that is due to my team makeup and part of it is uncertainty about his QB situation and heart (after last week).

Point being:There was plenty of logical rationale for owners to go a different direction if they chose to do so today. Painting it as a no-brainer to keep him in is just ignoring the FACTS you seem so high on.

That is all. Thanks.

You would ever bench him, because why? because of one bad game?
